    I think every microphone that you compared it to sounded better. It seemed like every time you spoke into it it was just on the edge of sizzling

    • @mudeth
      @mudeth 3 роки тому +6

      Agree, but I think that's the point of this mic. To push as much mid presence as possible. Personally I feel the 835 and D5 do a better job at achieving this, but this could be useful for duller voices in a live situation maybe. Pricing doesn't make sense to me though. I think the Beyerdynamic is a much better all-rounder.

    • @rome8180
      @rome8180 5 місяців тому +1

      I can see the comment about the sizzle, but to my ears a lot of the other mics had too much low end. I'm always thinking about how things are going to work in a mix. I like the fact that this mic isn't heavy with low mids. That may sound great out of context, but this mic sounds like you wouldn't have to do anything to make it sit in a mix. It already has the curve you'd want.

    Wow, that's a bright dynamic mic - it'll cut through a loud band. I'd personally go with the MD435 instead for the studio or broadcast.

    Amazing how the M88 sounds almost identical to the U87.
    The Beyerdynamic M88-TG is the best dynamic microphone in this test to my ear, and probably in the top 3 dynamic mics money can buy.
    Also, the SM58 did very well in this test in my opinion, no wonder it has been a staple for over 50 years now.

    Thank you for this video. Loved it! Got the md 445/435 and a beyer tg v70 & m88. I’ve never had a dynamic mic like the 445. It does sound like a condenser mic and has a very ‘direct’ in your ears kind of high resolution sound. Recorded vocals and it sounded ‘close’ and ‘intimate’ and yet forceful/powerful. The md 435 on the other hand sounds more smooth with a little more bass to me. The beyer m88 comes second place to the 445 in terms of sound quality. However, the m88 has a little more gain before feedback than the sennheisers.

    Have the MM445 capsule. Getting ready to purchase the wired MD445 version. Been using the MMD945 capsule for awhile, good sound. The MM445 mic capsule steps it up, and is amazing for cutting through the mix of a band. Yes, it has high end presence up front. Built in quality extra treble, without struggling with feedback. With a little eq, add some bass if you need it, then your golden. Rejects feedback A+. Quality of the sound is amazing A+. Crystal clear singing through it A+. Many compliments hearing the voice cutting through with a professional sound. No blanket on this sound. Worth the money. Have tried and own many mics, some lower end, mid end, high end mics. Decades of experience. If your using this for spoken word, as this video mentions, this mic is not the best for that. This gentlemen on the video is 100% correct.

      Hi Edmund, can you please provide your review on feedback rejection from this MM445? I’m looking to see I’m if it’s worth the upgrade to reduce feedback rejection as much as I could and heard this mm445 is a top notch in this area. I currently own sennheiser e965 but sometime I can’t turn up too loud due to feedback.

    Every time you compare a mic to the sE V7 it sounds like a better and better choice to me, so smooth. Could you compare the V7 and V7X at some point, maybe on the second channel? I can't decide between them even after Anton Browne's video.

  • @rome8180

    I really like the sound of this mic. It almost sounds like you applied EQ to it. I have a Shure SM7B, which is awesome, but I do find I need to brighten it up most of the time. It has kind of a "bandpassed" sound that works really well in the mix but often feels a little closed-off or muffled. This seems more lively and open.

    I'm really loving the sound of this microphone. I tend to lean towards condenser microphones because I hate how bland, dull, and boring a lot of dynamic microphones sound to me, but this microphone is an exception with its bright and lively tone.
    Other Sennheiser mics at the $100-200 price range have a more "regulated" sounding tone that I would probably prefer especially given the price range, but I can definitely see the appeal to the MD445

    Hi, Interesting review, I would like a comparison of this system with the beta58.
    I am looking for a wireless system for my small heavy-metal band. They are extremely expensive, so I was between the beta58 and the 945, but seeing this one now I have doubts, especially about the coupling in small stages. Do you strongly recommend one over the other?

    The profile for this mike did come over as "excessive" in the HF. Could be useful; for when the speakers for the PA do not have much to offer in that area. An EQ compensation could be applied for when recording a single voice. I find that the Shure Beta 58A works for me

  • @filmdevices3916

    I was looking for a great mic in the $400-500 range for lead vocals. The 445 sounds pretty much at the bottom of the heap to me. I no longer think I need to pay $400 to get a great mic. The winner price to performance ratio for me is the E935. This comparison confirmed the E935's I own are hard to beat and I am just going to buy more of them.

    This review makes me glad that I own a KSM8. The Beyerdynamics also did well to my ear. The Sennheisers are just way to bright for my taste, and honestly don't complement bandrew's voice very well.
    Obviously the Lewitt and Neumann condensers are hard to beat for smoothness, but they're not really aimed at the same sort of "stage" applications.

    Not a bad option but I think overpriced, $200-300 would be more believable IMO. Myself, I did like it on the acoustic quite a lot and I don't know, kind of have a take it or leave it for singing generally as I thought it sounded too thin. But some people like that sound and it certainly is very clear and articulate.

    While it's good to compare the un-EQ'd sound, I think it's also valuable to 3 or 4 band parametric EQ each for a more consistent sound. Can the high end be cut & bass boosted to balance the sound (for different applications) or does the mic make that impossible to overcome?
