this scene is a great scene but deleting it was a good thing. brings a harsh reality of widows of fallen firefighters and it is very tragic. wonderful scene though of course.
Agreed. It gave too much away with obvious foreshadowing. Anyone who watches movies knows 9 times out of 10 when a character says they're going to be alright, they end up dead. It's like (pick any) a war movie, the guy who starts talking about home or pulls out a picture of his family winds up dead.
@@chsims7032 I mean you didn't get that foreshadowing in that scene with Stephen's wife after they hooked up and said she didn't want him around Sean cause it confused him and she started crying talking the chances Stephen takes on the job?? That obvious foreshadowing vs this subtle version?
Probably the same guy who died because of Marty's cuts because of his taskforce closing firehouses. Remember when Bull confronted Marty after the garment factory fire? Bull:"Task force? Three guys have died already this year because of the cuts made by your FUCKIN' TASK FORCE!"
They should have included this scene and eliminated the entire pathetic Hollywood romance angle. THAT'S what ruins more movies. Let The Hallmark Channel corner that market, please.....
If it's a action movie leave out the sex crap and keep it all action if I wanna see sex I'll watch a porn flick it seems like every movie just has to have a romance scene in it it doesn't mean people aren't going to watch it because there's no sex in it people still will.
This scene does more than show what it's like after a fireman dies. It shows why Axe did what he did.
I don't know if people could've heard it,but Axe did say "I did it for Family" when confronted by Brian and Bull.
It also foreshadows what happens to Helen later.
"They killed your friends for money. What the fuck would you do?"
Axe:"You ever wonder why you're stuck a fuckin lieutenant for life?"
Bull:"No."
I swear that's my second favorite line. Right behind "Look at him. That's my brother, goddammit."
This scene with Mike's widow probably(of all the scenes in this film fantasy) speaks the most of what the fire service can REALLY be like!
They should have included this one - it picked up on the family culture of firefighting really well.

“They were killing our friends for money. What eff would you do?”
This scene has been in several versions seen on tv.
Really?
Yes I seen back draft on televy one time and this seen was in it
When I first saw this movie on tv with this scene I was like Backdraft 2 lol.
We're gonna be okay, Axe...
They had to delete this scene because they had given too much away and we would have figured it out before the dramatic ending

Makes sense.

The USA network used to play this movie all the time. This and tremors.
This is a beautiful and sad movie
Never knew about this thanks
This scene, at least for the first minute, reminds me of a moment in Twister (1996).
Do what?
They would show this when they played it on USA network
Not true, I have a DVD where this scene is included. I agree, glad it didn't corrupt the rest of my collection.
Why wife was glad when I was out of her life
Damn. 😔 Why?😟
Chicago actress Amy Morton
I don't get this scene, is that not bulls wife, who died?

Sorry but this is not a deleted scene this was actually in the movie

That scene wasn't deleted.
No deleted scenes are. If they were we couldn't watch them.
What's the scene between them in the movie.
+James Viveros The scene where Stephen is going to sleep and then cuts to the scenes set to "The Show Goes On"
@@1f5sda I see thanks
+James Viveros You're welcome!
glad they deleted this scene
Jason Bourne Why?:(
@@dennisdrozdov1424 probably because it make Axe's criminal behavior less surprising and forshadowed Bull and Axe would die at the end.
@@aaronhusar24 Well, if that's the case, this scene probably should have never been made and put on air
