That guitar tone is on point
Stellar playing, you are Truly gifted. Grew up in Florida, and Skynyrd was a MUST!
I spent a few years in Jacksonville and was lucky enough to jam with Artimus and Leon a few times.
Man! I miss Lynyrd Skynyrd!
They will live forever through us Brother.
That's exactly the right guitar for this music. Very nice playing also.
One of my favorite songs of Skynyrd and one of my all time favorite solos of any band. This song flies a bit under the radar to some of Skynyrd's most massive hits, so thank you for doing such an amazing job covering/teaching/highlighting it!
Im a drummer of nearly 50 years, but when it comes to guitar, some guitars used in specific arrangements are indelibly marked in my music mind and memory. This AC gem is certainly one of em. And it ONLY sounds right on a Gibson Bird. Thank you for this man \m/
The absolute best skynyrd lessons on the net. You do the greatest band of all time true justice. I've been playing the needle and the spoon wrong for 20 years.
I've been a huge Skynyrd fan since the 70's. I by far play more of their music on guitar than any other band. The combination of Gary, Allen and Ed King on guitar with Ronnie on vocals is a special place in time that is very dear to me so needless to say I was excited to find your videos!! Your lesson videos are awesome!! Please keep them coming brother!! Great tone!!
Don't forget Steve Gaines who really got a stagnant Skynard pumped up again!
Awesome job brother. Unlike that fuckin' poser Ronnie who said in Hartford, CT that he'd never play his brothers music!!!
@@Anthem728 ?
did you mean Johnny ?
Yes. Duh. My bad
FINALLY somebody who is accurate with the great Lynyrd Skynyrd band........nice job on your video's :)
Jeff Reed It’s actually not accurate.
how you fool, tell us now @sleep sleepy
caomhan kelly sure, i’ll send you a soundcloud link
why, i listen to this song everyday on Spotify, I am not asking for a link I am asking how this lesson is un-accurate
caomhan kelly I’m trying to tell you that this guy doesn’t play the intro right, like many others.
That tone is literally identical. Nice job! That Plexi sounds amazing.
Dude?! You're killing it!!!! I've learned so much from this video. Thanks for doing all the leg work. Fantastic job!!!!!
You Sir, are the first one on here to Ever show it in slow,so people could at least grasp it! Thank you so very much for that. You realize that some of us are just learning and need that! I'm following fir sure. Keep them coming and I hope you will continue your slowed down approach, can ask fir better.you are the best!! Thank you again!!
Great job Brother! I’ve been a die hard Skynyrd fan since I was a small kid. I’m 50 and it just keeps being better every time I hear their music. Again great job
I hadn’t tried to figure out the harmonics for all these years. Thanks, great job!
So glad I found your channel, and thank you for Keeping Lynard Skynards music alive and well, anyone wanting to learn Skynard guitar riffs should watch your channel.
Allen Collins was a beast
Oh yes he surely was!!
ABSOLUTELY
So was Steve gaines!
@@tattooed1979 yes he was
One of the best...gaines was that fuckin dude tho
Thanks for the video. Love the Firebird! Awesome!
I’m 50 years old, have played guitar since I was 12, learned to cover everything I know through various means (tabs; by listening to it over-and-over again and figuring it out (i.e., by ear); and family friends who play guitar). I enjoy your channel (and similar) because y’all hacked those previously-mentioned harder ways I learned to cover my favorites.
I Also agree with the last commenter - all of your tones are on point. Great job with that and the tutorial.
The only thing I would suggest to make your channel the “Go To” channel for tutorials is to slow down the “lesson” and spend time explaining each individual riff in detail, mixed in with a slower version of the played riff, mixed in with real-time playing of each riff.
I think you are right there at the cusp of being the one-stop channel for replacing printed tabs for all time. I think what you’re missing is the middle part. You play it slow, give it some detail (assuming anyone watching is advanced enough to fill in the blanks), but I believe you might be wrong for at least half of that audience…take a little extra time to flesh out those middle nuances.
Then finish off with a real-time; tempo-driven cover.
Dude, you’re right there on the threshold of millions of subscribers. Take the time and break it down.
But what do I know?
Always loved this song and wanted to play it! - this is a great insight - thanks!
Very well done, and that guitar is awesome!
Waiting for your next video... I really like how you do everything. Please do some more.
Thanks!!
This was extremely well done. Thank you!
Thanks brother, you saved me about 4 hours of me working that out. I appreciate that!
Excellent! . . Definitely a complex solo.
Rossington & Collins always knock me out!! Also King 👑/ Gaines !!!!

Thanks saved me some woodshedding time! Excellent!
Man wow awesome second to none gear far out !!! Amazing Firebird and Marshall amp .... wow that’s some playing man .... I love it thank you
Love these videos. You are going to build up quite the fanbase, both for your instructional videos and for the band. Would love to see Every Mother's Son if you guys have that in your repertoire.
Absolutely Awesome
Love Skynyrd, Love your sound !
Thanks so much for sharing this! You really nailed it too it sounds exactly the same

You get a good clean Skynyrd sound. Nice job.
Fantastic tutorial! I’m starting to work on this song, your efforts in this video are appreciated 🤝🏼
That was awesome
This guy is a fucking bad ass.
Great job 🎸
That’s Awesome!!!
your passion for their music and your craft are obvious
Great! Never seen anyone do a lesson on the outro before
1. Allen Collins - god
2. Gary Rossington - god
3. Steve Gaines - god
4. Leon Wilkesen - god
5. Billy Powell - god
6. Artimus Pyle - god
7. Ronnie Van Zant - god
These guys are all gods. Greatest band that ever existed for their time.
Damn I love firebirds!!!!
I had a 72 reissue between Allen and Johnny Winter,I was,but I was a fool and sold it.
Wow, very impressive, thanks for posting this video.
I've clicked on the magic red button for you just now. Please return the favor by adding me as well. Thanks
Thanks for sharing! I was searching to see if how I figured it out was correct (wasn't! lol) and found a lot of attempts that were either improvised or not accurate. This is the most accurate-to-it I've heard if it's not perfectly dead on. I think maybe the hammer on might not be exactly how Skynrd played it but it sounds great that way even if it is improv or a oopst!
Man i like the way you hold the pick and place your frit hand cool observation..RocknRollflat5
Bad ass bro !!!
Love that firebird omg
Sweet thanks man
Thank you brother
Awesome, thank you, I've been faking this song for so many years
Spot on.
Love it. Your slow is fast for me but I can follow instuctions. Great job on your video.
Remember, you can slow the video to 50%, and his slow plus UA-cam slow equals
Note. By. Note.
Nice tute, btw- thanks! And VERY nice Firebird!
This dude does Skynyrd better than anyone I've seen.
I wanted to find the nuances of this song but I picked this video simply for the thumbnail showing a Firebird into a Marshall. I wasn’t disappointed. 🤘😎👍
This one was awesome to see and hear...question...on the live versions, it seemed that Allen got some kind of volume boost on the second verse of the outro guitar solo...it really punches thru...what could this have been?
OUTSTANDING video!! I've seen SO many guitarists screw this one up over the years, it's nice to see someone doing it right!!! Now time for me to practice some more!!
This is great! I have been trying to play all those Skynyrd songs, but haven´t been able to do it. Now i can play those. Thanks a lot!
Your tone is awesome! What Marshall you have? Is it 1987 or 1986 model? Is the thing on the top of the amp some kind of power brake?
Great! I subbed!
could you explain in the begging which notes you are playing in slow speed please step by step the intro please thank you
Muito boa a aula
Nice!
Nice !!!!!
badassary
Thanks bro
just love your Firebird!
gonna learn this song from you, then upload it as a cover haha
Love that guitar. Is that a firebird?
I’ve seen video, maybe Winterland, where Gary plays those harmonics on the 12th down to the 7th fret.
I need an I Need You video, please and thank you
Great amp.
Can you make a tutorial for "I need you" please ??
Your Skynyrd cover are legendary bro. Do you know the chord voicings for I Need You? I absolutely love that song.
Great playing & lesson. Can you tell me how low your action is on the Firebird? I've got a new one & it's a work in progress. It had a pro setup but the action was still high enough my fingers slid under the strings on bends.
It's pretty low but I can still play slide without fretting out. I guess the high E string clearance at the 12th fret is about 1/16
Thank you.
tone is spot on. if you watch all their live videos they all have peavey amps. which is suprising but im sure in the recording studio they used fenders and marshals
Hell yeah. He's nailing that tone with that Plexi.
I love Skynyrd but Gary or Allen snagged this main riff from Johnny Winters ‘Prodigal Son’.
Allen was a JW fan and even played the Gibson Firebird before switching to the Explorer.
Great job on Needle and the Spoon. Outstanding!!!
Dude ! You should.be playing w the skynrd band ... holy crap ... good job
Is that a power soak on top of the plexi? If so what brand. I have a 81’ Hiwatt that could use one. Thanks. Great video’s also. Made me pickup my guitars again.
It's a Power Station made by Fryette. Works great with my HiWatt, too. Yes it is like a power soak but it has a tube amp inside that reamps the sound without changing the tone.
is that a blues breaker peeking out, or a 18w? looks original, yes?
Badass. That is all.
firebird dude rocks
Dude. You're fucking good man! Any plans on coming to Denver with your band?
I just visited CO for the first time last fall. Great place and my favorite town was Ouray. At the moment, we've only traveled as far as AZ but would love to make it out to CO. Let us know if there are any spots in your area that would be good for what we do.
ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD. Please come down south!!
is that a REAL 18w? I have a 1967 (model 1974 1x12)
What speakers are in your cab? sounds great!
That's a 1973 cabinet with 25 watt Celestion Greenbacks. The cab once belonged to Derek St Holmes from Ted Nugent's band.
ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD Avatar has a new speaker it's a Greenback/ GH30 mix 25 watts just ordered 4:-) hope it does the trick.. You have good good tone!
where's the chairman that's in the intro to that's what I'm trying to find
Can u please do Mississippi kid skynyrd???????
Opens with, "Things going on "
what distortion pedal are you using thanks
No pedal. That’s just the amp cranked up through the Fryette attenuator.
What are the specs on the amp? Vintage? Reissue? Cab?
1974 Amp with a 1973 cabinet. Both all original. 25 watt greenbacks in the cab.
Sounds awesome what r the amp settings
Presence 6, Bass 10, Mid 10, Treble 4, Volume I around 7...a bit more for solos
@@RyanWilliamsMusicthank u!!
