First time I ever heard from Steven, was with this same song, somewhere in time around 2015, to this day, still one of my favorite artists, and it surely brings back some dusted memories
This could've easily been a Porcupine Tree Album. Out of all of Steven Wilson's solo work, The Raven That Refused to Sing is by far the closest he has sound to Porcupine Tree without being Porcupine Tree
I just suffered through the Dick Clark new year celebration, ringing in 2024 with my wife and daughter. The “music” was absolute hot garbage. I left the room during some Megan Stallion nonsense and had to get on UA-cam to remind myself that real music was still out there. Artists like these guys with actual tools and a pallet to paint with real color and texture. God it felt good to hear.
@@nyrckr Love Marco - immediately identifiable as him playing - but not that same subtlety nor capable (or willing perhaps) to ever hold a solid rythme for more than 2 bars at a time. Just a little too flighty for me but works to prefection in this type of track.
That's an E-Bow. They've been around a long time. That cord is just a cord that keeps it dangling rom hi mic' stand so he can quickly grab it when needed.
Very Genesis. Gret song. Don't like the Suhr guitar tone. Steve Hackett played a Les Paul. It sounded right on with Genesis. This guitar tone was thin.
Well.. i mean it's always about taste etc... but to be honest, he kind of fucked up the guitar solo didn't he? it doesn't sound like what he was going for to my ears
This is perhaps the greatest musical work to date of the 21st Century.
Don't be silly.
@@therepublicofcynica You are a jerk - and are likely already aware of that.
Agreed.
Best musical work of the century.
@@therepublicofcynica Your channel subscription list is silly.
One of my all time favorite records! It has the soul of the greatest prog rock records of the 70ties, but breaths something new and different.
Marco Minnemann, drummer extraordinaire
I know this is sacrilegious in the PT/SW community but I prefer his drumming style ever so slightly to Gavin's.
With the bass virtuoso Nick Beggs !!!! ♥️♥️♥️
And great Adam Holtzman on keyboards...!
fuk the king
,i play foot ball with his head
...a masterpiece !
Yes indeed. Rock, Jazz and Gentle Giant vocals. What a mixture!
They are all so insanely good its hard to single out someone.
Easy, the drums

I just realised that of everyone on this stage, only Marco isn’t on The Harmony Codex, over a decade later. 😊
Saw them in Los Angeles! By far the best live show of 2012!
King crimson influence , which is a good thing :-)
King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull, Rush, Genesis, Gentle Giant, and more! It's a grand tour of sweet 70's prog!
Hace mucho tiempo que no escuche una banda con un sonido tan puro progresivo
Bravo!
Fantastic!

I was there!
Saw this tour in NYC, it was better than the album. That band is off the hook and should be studied by all musicians
This one anyway.
This should be the modern prog standard. Why nobody doing things like this nowadays?
Minnemann is God!
Drums hold to Harrison on a technical scale.
Marco is definitely at the elite Gavin level of techinique. Definitely reminds of Zappa at points. Return to Forever, also
Marco is the most Creative !

Almost..
@@johnv4866 Marco is at another level in terms of technical ability.
Agreed! Still trying to find a clip of that psychedelic intro Adam played in LA...
outstanding
Épico
Transition at 8:36 reminded me of the Court of the Crimson King
Nice choice on the Hughes and Kettner amp!
at 1:32, what is in the guitarist's left hand and also what is that thin black cable rising up from his left hand? thanks

Whos the bass player?
Nick Beggs
9:18 whats this chord?
Sounds like a Db flat 5
It's weird but professional......
nick beggs mvp
Put some damn shoes on baw!
lol - naaahh aint ever gonna happen - bless im!
How is that bass player not in jail?
Bro played Kaneshiro's palace in Persona 5 and was like: THIS IS IT!
I understood that reference!
great song and great performance!!!....but have look at 3:34...she is a beautiful mexican girl !!!
3:34
