One of the biggest lies in aquascaping is the planting process is relaxing. My blood pressure skyrockets when they don't stay in the soil or come loose from rocks etc
If you have a little experience and good tools and good soil, it is a no-brainer really, a really good flow experience. Don't give up, find enjoyment in it. :) I feel you though. LOL
My two week old tank has got grass floating around and stuck all over everything. I planted it as properly as I could before I filled the tank with water. Its a nightmare!
This is an excellent tutorial but if I can be so humble as to make a request? I know Green Aqua has a few hardscaping tutorials but I feel like it is a skill with fine details and considerations that can be difficult to develop. Can you please create a hardscaping and "Vision to execution" tutorial series for people like me who just struggle to get the foundations right? Pretty please :)
Welcome to the channel, thanks for the first comment. :) Actually, Tommy has done a hardscape tutorial just last week, you might want to check that out. Also, we spend a considerable amount of time building hardscapes in the different videos, all these can be of a good reference to you - perhaps. But yeah, will do more, I love this topic.
its not maybe as the same level of production as green aqua, but maybe check Pakne Kenzho channel for more complex hardscaping video. not really detailed, but you can see quite the way he scape his tank. its in indonesian though.. buy maybe worth considering..
Before I became disabled, I was a crazed terrestrial gardener…even asked to be a Master Gardner by the state I live in here in the US…not dissimilar from planting in water, but different, of course. I can’t wait for Spring to come and start gardening again. Mini landscape design is so amazing!
I have my green tea and I really need to get me one of those super cool t-shirts that you are modeling so well 🤩 ... Now if only I could only come to Europe 😭🤣♥️ It's amazing what a difference having the right tools especially tweezers can make. Unfortunately mine are an inexpensive brand off of Amazon that don't hold the grip as well as the quality tools that you are using!! It's definitely worth it to invest in quality! I really enjoyed your demonstration on your technique on how you properly prepared and plant the plants! You always teach me so much! Another wonderful tutorial! I hope you and everyone at Green Aqua is having a wonderful and blessed weekend 🙏🌿🐟🌿💚💖
I found my passion for aquascaping after my tank was allready established , i enjoy the challenge of growing plants in my low tech want to be high tech set up haha good light no co2 . Now im looking at setting up a small tank with aquasoil and try my hand at co2 . This channel is confidnce in a video thank you guys what a beautiful world it is
@duneaz It's wonderful to hear how our videos have helped spark your interest in aquascaping! Setting up a small tank with aquasoil and experimenting with CO2 sounds like a fantastic next step. If you have any specific questions as you get started, don't hesitate to ask. We're here to help you create your underwater masterpiece! 👍
thank you very much for your work, the soul that you put into creating content. Although I am from Russia, but thanks to you, I now have 4 aquariums and am preparing to launch a 300 liter one. Every week (almost) for the mood and for immersion in the process, I turn on your channel. Every time I listen to your videos, I learn something new. I really really want to see Japanese masters in action on your channel. Ps now I drink tea every time I clean aquariums thanks xD sorry for bad english from russia with love
Great video. Thank you. For new Aquascapers the classification of plants with foreground/background etc. must be confusing especially when aquascapers are discussing perspective when they might use taller larger leafed plants in the foreground and smaller, small leafed plants in the background. The more you think about it the current classification of plants is so outdated and unhelpful. Would it be useful for all of the major producers to arrive at a new and more logical system? Having giving it some thought I propose the following: 1. A letter indicating the type of plant. S = stem, C = carpeting, F = floating, E = epiphyte, M = moss. Following the first letter comes 3 other letters indicating the height, spread and leaf size. Although T could be used to indicate tall I would suggest for all of the following categories to stick with small, medium and large. Simpler I think. So you are left with something like S/T/M/M. If these 4 letters were them colour coded green for easy, yellow for medium and red for hard or high tech/high energy you then have a lot of information in the same amount of space as ‘foreground/background’ etc. It would need producers and stores to display a ‘key’ but after sometime I could see something like this being adopted. You could also add up to 3 arrows underneath to indicate speed of growth. One long arrow = slow growing. 2 arrows = average growth and 3 arrows = fast growing. Any thoughts?
Great video as always guys! Just an idea for you guys, maybe do a trimming video? Like how do you guys trim different type of plants? The common stem plants are quite straightforward but what about plants like Hygrophila Pinnatifida? Or long leafed plants like Vallisneria. Or epiphytes such as nana petite and buce. Thanks a lot!
Good tutorial! I feel like this is just the tip of the iceberg for planting tricks in the art of aquascaping. I bet there are so many more techniques to master. Tying moss to wood is one of the hardest things to do well and I see you cut out parts of the whole process. I know it’s worth a video by itself to be able to do it properly and easily. Ty for this video! Appreciate you sharing the knowledge!
Please make a video about aquarium backgrounds. For example, what are the methods for creating a background with glow effect, what kind solutions already have on market. This topic is not discussed enough on UA-cam.
Trimming the plant helps the plant use energy for roots first and then the top. The great thing about water plants is that it’s relatively easy to start new plants from cuttings.
Great tutorial. Thank you. Sometimes I wish you were closer so I could just ask a question or two. Time difference makes for a problem when doing time sensitive scape. I am going to experiment next week on a new set up for a tank. I will let you know how it goes lol. Thanks for teaching us I do appreciate it.
Great stuff! Great production value, with a simple style that is very informative. Wonderful work - particularly for an aquascaping beginner. Thank you.
Beautiful video. This is really one of my favourite video. I wish I was the first to watch this video😀 I wish you guys make your regular videos a little longer. When you plant some new kind of plants you can explain how they are planted. Example: I don't know how to replant the cuttings of staurogyne repens, blyxa japonica, pogostemon helferi. These plant are bushy and we cannot easily hold it with tweezers.
very informative and useful.. balazs sir always come with special video. much needed this video. today aquascaping is so famous , best video to guide new hobbyists. thanks legend for best video..
When you do the “top off” with the stem plant will it propagate and start rooting?? Or you will remove later? I’m a newbie and love your channel! I’ve learned a lot and just scaped my first tank today. Love from Los Angeles 💕
We ship to almost all European countries, including some that have custom procedures. However, we can't currently provide the same quality of service for other countries / continents. Maybe with time... Thanks for your comment!
@@GreenAquaShop ....yah actually my point was for the countries of other continents like Asia etc....anyhow i wish that it will be started soon....great channel indeed..
I love planting but because of the root structure planting cryptocoryne can be annoying sometimes. From this video I learned how to improve my technique. Also i use a combination of jbl Manado and fertilised substrate which is called AquaBasis+ but all my plants like it.
just did my first tank, planting was a nightmare. The plants do go in so easily like you everyone do on youtube, you gotta stab them. Gladly the tank came along nicely, hopefully the next will be better
Tipp:you could sell heterandria formosa, they are a good fish for nano tanks. They are rare to find in fish shops tho(they dont spawn that fast maybe thats why)
I would love to see a video that has only the plants that don't need substrate. Which one attaches best to wood or stones One just on mosses and how to officially attach to which hardware please I love your channel!
Thank you teacher 😅. I hate to plant Morte Carlo, I don't like Rotala Super Red n Rotala Mini when they grow many roots on the stem itself look super ugly. However I love these three plants 😭
Ceramic substrates (baked clay) are the most difficult to plant I'd say. Not mentioned in the video, but they have their fans. Their main advantage is a double-edged sword: They are porous and light. This means lot of space for nitrification bacteria and easy rooting, despite not having any nutrients on their own. Also parts of it would float for days, they cannot be used in hardscape except the foreground (the substrate lies flat) and planting tweezers are a must. I think they are also cheaper than aquarium (top) soils.
A great planting tutorial... currently I'm having lot of issues with HC :( As soon as it starts to perling, plants try to float ... I guess I will need to replant all my patchs :(

My biggest disappointment when I started this hobby 😅it all looks so calm and relaxing easy on video, but damn, I nearly stopped right there and then
My two week old tank has got grass floating around and stuck all over everything.
I planted it as properly as I could before I filled the tank with water.
Its a nightmare!
and block the filter
Finally someone addressed how to plant floating plants. Great info!
