- We try and fail to mount a smog pump supercharger on our 110cc off road go kart named Pugly, so we decide to pit it up against our 140cc 4 speed mini ATV while exploring the woods of North Carolina.

Just drill a hole through the sidecover put a spacer so a pulley is outside then you can keep the charging system

i just love the way these two guys just click or gel together,i believe if a big backer got behind them they could quit their day jobs and concentrating only on the show could have a huge show, like road kill for the average Joe,im not into cars,and ive never been in a go-cart, but i love watching these two guys content,its very very underated

Just run off another pulley put on the rear axle. Good show guys. I'm an old man who would require a prostate exam after that R R track run.
Using a smog pump works very well on small engines but to get the best boost out of them you need to stretch the spring on the inside. You should be able to get 4 to 6 pounds of boost out of it. Most smog pumps only put out 2 to 3 pounds of pressure. You could also put a pulley on the axel and drive the pump that way. I hope this helps

Different sized pulleys control the boost on those its not set in stone.

I would love to ride the 140cc ATV because it kinda brings back nostalgia of when I started riding my ATV at 5 years old. I definitely would have rather had your ATV than mine when I grew older. I'm not sure how many cc's it was, maybe around the 100-110 range. It had a 3 speed auto gearbox and an electric start. It could go pretty fast but the gearbox was tuned so it couldn't go up hills very easily or at all but it could get up to speed once you got it going.
I've never had an ATV before, or driven one. What am I doing?
I would go for Pugly, the ATV looks like its just too easy, but a go kart off road takes effort= more fun in my opinion... cool video guys
so about the scooter shop... what about building a cart with 2 scooter motors for drive wheels? the little 50cc mopeds basically have the entire engine/driveline/suspension built into the swing arm. just mount 2 to the back of a cart

Great video. I'd ride both, if I had to choose, I'd ride the ATV. And for the person commenting on riding along side the RR tracks, young kids will do what they want anyway. We all did stupid things when we were kids. It looked to me that the RR tracks were out of service anyway, no one can actually say. Thanks for a great video. I watch them all.

Run the Smog pump of the back axle, you will only get boost when rolling but you can gear it the way you want. You can do the same to an alternator.

You should see how the 16hp 5 speed turns out. If all goes well, you should put one of those on pugly. You’d lose reverse but with a long travel suspension, pugly would be one mean dune jumper.
I mis riding my quad it's ben almost 2 years I bought a house and priorities came first but nothing like cracking the gas and hauling ass, I've had the same quad for 20 years you guys make me want to ride so bad!!!!!!

You can mount the smog pump on the top frame of the engine cradle. You can use the output shaft add a second sprocket to it and one to the pump. It would increase the air output as well as put out more air the faster you go, just like a real supercharger.
Hey what kinda kart is pugly? I just came across one for a good price that looks a lot like it with I think a 196cc.
Love the vids!!! If u plan on doing engine swaps, search places like Craigslist for old used 2 stroke dirt bikes. There is no comparison between a utility engine and a MX engine. Might even save some money, I bought a '94 YZ125 for $150 and it ran great! Keep up the good work! God Bless!!!

I'd have to say piggy with the 140.. sounds like a freaking blast
Depending on what rim backspacing you run on the front you can't go much bigger than 23s without them rubbing the frame when turning. I have put 24s on the front of my sons with 2+5 rims backspacing but it makes the front so wide it looks goofy and makes it hard to drive around in the woods. The 4+3 I have on it now with 23s do rub when you really crank it turning but is just about right.
When I brought my sons buggy home it had 20 track atv tires on the front and 18 in lawn mower tires on the rear (factory was 20/22). When I changed it to 23/24s it made a world of difference.
With the 670 build you guys should do fuel injection and turbo charge it or do that with the dragster

You can pretty easily up the power on Pugsley.. Up the compression by machining the head, port&polish, fit the biggest possible carb (24mm I think), do a PROPER exhaust with bigger pipe.. You can also just bore the cylinder and get a bigger "stock" piston to up the cc's. I think 57mm is the biggest for that engine. Just look up/ask on CRF/pitbike forums, they've done it all.

i have a question for you guys. how do yall get your karts for so cheap? i look online and ask everywhere and i cant seem to get a kart for under 500 and thats just nuts for a used kart. im not putting half a car payment for a used kart.

I was thinking, do you have a local machine shop or machinist that you might know? You could take the nut off of the flywheel and have someone fabricate one that would essentially lengthen the shaft. Bore a hole through the flywheel cover and add the pulley for your smog pump supercharger.

I think I'd take the ATV just for the simple fact it's easier to shift your weight around for manueverabilty
When you're sitting in pugly that's it.
Maybe you can lean to the left or right or forward or back but your weight doesn't really move much from center

Where did you get the frame for pugly
You could take the charging rotor off and mount a small pulley onto it, with bolts going through the holes in them to hold them together. Reinstall it. Then leave the cover off and attach the smog pump.
I have a 150cc dune buggy like Pugly, my motor blew up so I put a 440cc snowmobile engine in it! I believe that would be a great motor for yours

Chevy V8 water pump pulley turned around backwards should fit inside there and have enough reach to drive the smog pump. you would have a 1:1 ratio approximately.
