  • "Only the wisest and stupidest of men never change" Confucius
"Every step starts with a step" Karl Pilkington
Without change, things stay the same and ultimately will stagnate and die. A few clips to highlight Karl's outlook, with clips are mainly from the old XFM shows, with a few rarer clips and some podcast interviews (Balance, Distraction Pieces, Elevenses, Pot Twist, Series Linked). Hope you enjoy it and take care.

I think Karl is right in a way. The XFM shows/podcasts are a time-capsule that we will always have. Maybe they could do one final show though, for charity and the fans...

The intro is beautiful put. I know we want it all SO bad. I have no doubt that it’d be amazing no matter what but it must be a lot of pressure from the fans to come through. He said it well then, even the way he explained it, shows he’s grown

Ah mate, the beginning here is exactly why I think it will be absolutely BRILLIANT to have a one off coming back together.
I think it would be brilliantly cathartic to see them responding publicly to Karl ‘all grown up’ now.
I’d be all for every second of it.
Also, Karl, you more than held your own then, you just didn’t know you were - now you do, and that would simply just bring another dynamic do it.
    Do. It.

Karl still doesn’t understand how fascinating he is. Saying that that show wouldn’t be funny because they’re all in different places - Karl - what makes it funny is the way your brain works. Your brain is so different than most people - and when you pair that with intelligent comedians, it’s gold! Just be you homie and the success will be there.

I'm a huge fan of the podcasts but I 100% agree with Karl that they shouldn't do new ones as they wouldn't be able to recreate the situation as it was then, Karl is nowhere near as naïve as he was back in the xfm days. I think its better for TV/radio shows to end on a high rather than be dragged out until their audiences lose interest.

torn with the guys getting back together. its true that the dynamic would be different. it was pretty candid and raw which you can't fake... BUT when karl did idiot abroad (the peak R/S/K experience) the podcasts were ultra successful, they were all much better off, and the trio was better than ever. i sometimes think ricky and steve took it too far w/ idiot abroad / bucket list. I think he has some resentment and doesn't want to be contracted to film w/ them anymore because of the compromising situations he was in

The thing to do is - find a third formula, after XFM\Podcast formula and Idiot Abroad formula. Like a news quiz or something. Although character is precarious. E.g. Steve Merchant had that Rodney Trotter thing going on, that requires youth etc. A sequel *can* work but it just has to be adaptive.

I look at them as school kids, Ricky the popular one, Steve the skinny odd looking one who is always trying to impress his mate the popular one but he has a jealous sinister side... Karl the slower one who looks to the other two for recognition and approval and he's easily pleased with a kind heart simple but a good guy deep down... Ricky likes to be top of the pile and still manages it more or less.... Steve is a weird one, kind of reminds me of a fully grown incel, he has a really nasty evil side and I'd expect him of all three to become the serial killer... He's always trying to impress Ricky and mostly by having a go at Karl... Quite a trio

@@iscreamfitness My dad is from Liverpool but he's very similar to Karl in many ways. He is in fact bald and round-headed. But he did use to go on holiday to a caravan park in Wales a lot and at one point there was a cow in the garden.
