Great video. And yeah, of course I wait hours.... even days, and sometimes all night, for Steamboat. Well worth it.

Que lugar tan asombroso, parece como de otro planeta ¡quiero ir!. Ojalá la gente que lo visite no tire basura a los géiseres y sigan preservando el parque.

Good video. We are just back from Yellowstone and we lucked out. We were out of the park before the heavy rainfall and flooding shut the park.
Norris is my favorite part of the park. It's the weirdest and the coolest.
We saw the stream part of the stream boat geyser (looks like the streaming continues far longer after eruption) and it was simply stunning!
    Thanks for your videos.

Yes, I would wait for hours to see Steamboat erupt. I plan on doing just that on my 2 week trip to Yellowstone this October. I usually skip the walks to the geysers due to mobility issues but will make an exception here. Thank you for the information, I have noted it in my trip plans.

went here last summer and was fortunate enough to see the beginning of a steamboat eruption, instantly made it my favorite geyser basin

Great vid! I was fortunate to work as a NPS volunteer at the basin last year. Parking can be a major bummer but visiting before 10 and after 4 usually works well. The place is awsome!

Great info as always. Not sure I would want to wait 7 to 8 hours for a geyser 😉

Thanks again, not sure I'd wait around that long, there is so much to see. Have to ask, it seems like I'm hearing the park isn't very RV friendly, just wondering cause that how we are going. Thanks for sharing, you are very knowledgeable and it's going to make our trip way better.

      @WereintheRockies  3 роки тому

Do you already have reservations? I wouldn’t say it’s not RV friendly. You’ll be fine. There are some roads you can’t drive on with an RV though

Thanks again for a great video. I think I would wait around 7 or 8 hours if Steamboat was guaranteed to erupt. Unfortunately, no guarantee. 👍😕

Thanks for watching James! I agree with you, which is why I haven't seen it erupt yet. LOL. But man, that would be cool.

Hi guys, Need your help. We will be renting an Rv and will be in yellowstone for 5 days and 2 days in Mt Rushmore before that. Any tips for Rv in first 2 weeks of May? we are loving your videos and really want to thank you for doing it.

    • @WereintheRockies

      Awesome trip!! Thanks for watching!!
RV Tips: 1. Take a look at the map and look at the roads that are off-limits to RVs (there are quite a few side roads that don't allow RVs in Yellowstone). 2. Get up really early, then rest/take a nap in your RV in the middle of the day when it's the busiest. 3. Be flexible because some parking lots are small and don't have a lot of RV parking sites, so you may have to move on. 4. If you need a game plan for what to see and when, check out our website: www.wereintherockies.com. Plus we're making an audio guide.
We love Mt Rushmore!!! The Black Hills are incredible. Make sure to spend plenty of time at Custer State Park.

We were lucky to see Steamboat erupt. And now we have $500 bill to fix the finish on our car. Don’t park in the parking lot if it’s erupting!

1:25 This is inaccurate, Steamboat erupts very infrequently almost once every 1 to 2 months.

20 eruptions in 2021 not every 5 days. If you are counting small eruptions you need to be more specific. Major eruptions are different then small eruptions .
