Love Saint Etienne. My favorite band! I’m with you that it took multiple listens to get into it. They have a proper “pop” album coming out this summer too.
Listening to it for the first time as I type, Interesting stuff. I might possibly prefer it without the vocals/spoken word. In a wierd way it makes me think of parts of Burial's 'Untrue' in that it has a sort of liminal quality. Nice to hear your thoughts on Jockey S. A fantastic monthly . Disco Pogo is ok, but they've gone for that luxury model where its 3 issues a years for £15.00 each. For me theres simply not enough content of interest to justify me paying that price. The latest issue is the first I havent bought. I was a huge fan of Muzik Magazine during the insane UK dance years 1995-1998. The sheer volume of reviews & content in that magazine was insane. Theres a site that scans every issue, they reviewed about 300 singles each issue & 100 albums. Crazy days.
There is a beautiful Aphex Twin portfolio/profile in the most recent issue of the Berlin based culture magazine, 032c.
Cool. Used to listen to all their albums back in the day and liked most of it. I’m in to ambient for sure so I’ll go check this new one out.

Check out Random: A Tribute to Gary Numan. It has some great cover tracks, including a version of "Stormtrooper in Drag" by Saint Etienne.
I have it! Great comp.

The vocals are growing on me as the album progresses. I'm really enjoying this.
