      Go get your pecs sore, then do pull ups. That's the easiest way to tell if there is co-activation.
      If you're fancy do an EMG study.
      Pecs may not be the main movers here but I see where he is coming from. Since that muscle is involved in a wider array of shoulder movements, overcrowding fibers in the muscle itself, it is actually quite likely pecs will start to fire when the pull ups get heavy after a few reps.
      And don't forget a few muscles in the body change function the more flexion a joint has reached.

    pull ups for chest 😬

    • @mizu9811
      @mizu9811 Рік тому +3

      Muscles that work antagonistically are still targeted either way. That's why some people get sore traps/scapula from starting off calisthenics with doing high volume of push ups with under-developed upper backs. Of course the load is less than doing chest-focused exercises. Now plus as he explained with pulling arm in, so it's a suitable supplement because hopefully you're training back anyways....

    I can’t do pull-ups. Even when I was younger, leaner, and in pretty good shape, I could never do either pull-ups or chin ups. Maybe it’s a leverage thing, because I’m 6’6” with fairly long arms and a large body frame, I don’t know. I wish I had found a way to do them, knowing how effective they are.

    If ur training calisthenics then u need divide ur routine in push pull and legs cuz all calisthenics exercise target more than one muscle at the same time. For example dips target both tricep and chest and the same goes for push ups.

      The muscle is attached to the sternum and where it stops doesn’t change and the guy in the video is a great example. He has decent chest development but it doesn't fill the gap. Same with biceps. Luimarco for example could never have arms like Sergio Oliva. They will never go past his tendon. Same with all other muscles.
