- Renowned Lionel train collector Don Hagar performs an in-depth survey of the pre war Lionel “Hudson” locomotives. With valuable insights and historical facts, this is a must see film for any and all collectors of this classic toy train.
This guy knows more about these trains than I know about myself.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sir : you have the only doctorate of Lionel Hudson knowledge ! My hat is off to you for your grammar and diction as well !
Great presentation! It brought back many memories of the Hudson that my uncle bought for me in the early 1960's for $15! It was the only Lionel loco that could simultaneously pull all 22 boxcars that I owned. I could also make the train longer but with even a 4' diameter circle, if you didn't place the heaviest cars in the front of the train, the cars would tip over on the curve! I have to thank my uncle in many ways, as selling the loco in the early 70's allowed me to get into O Scale 2 rail, that lead to the purchase of a Niagara, which I have to this day. My present project is a custom made 4-12-2, with all flanged drivers! I am estimating at least a 7' radius curve for this monster!
Fantastic details. Thanks for posting!
Just found your channel, very cool. I love that 5344 Hudson.
This is an excellent video analysis of the production changes and traits to look at. Much appreciated.
Terrific video. You are right, it took me 20 years to acquire my first prewar scale Hudson. Fortunately, I was able to acquire another a few months later. Pure luck. Mine are ‘37 and ‘39. Honestly, I like the ‘37 and think it’s superior to the ‘39. Thanks for posting. Very informative.
Wonderful video , looks like you have a nice shop set up .
Thank you so much for posting the full video. More easily accessible info about these locomotives is always welcome in my book.
Thank You I appreciate you sharing your knowledge on the Lionel Hudson.
Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge.
I had a ? 1952 Lionel Rock Island Lines train, since I lived in Moline, IL. Ran that set like crazy! Great Video!
Don Hagar's presentation on the scale and semi-scale prewar Hudson is priceless. Are these two videos available on DVD?
thanks for teaching about Lionel trains I had to subscribe to your channel cos learning is very important. thanks
My uncle was a dealer service center. He had a couple of these if not more .. He sold 2 of them for 10,000 a piece. I'm glad I listened to this man he told me what to buy and when.
Can the train dealer meet me in the alley? I need a hit of Conrail!
Great info…thanks!
Very informative and helpful.
If you want to run your Hudson you can increase the cow catcher gap above the center rail by modifying a replacement cow catcher without modifying the frame. Suggest not modifying an original cow catcher, keep it orgional at all costs.
Brilliant ❤
Hudson step downs were totally different for their time.
I do hope to own one of these someday. Atm im restoring a 226e which is another a great locomotive.
Is zinc pest the same as intergranular corrosion ?
I wonder if post war(after '45) Lionel parts would work on Pre war Lionel Hudson's?
I love my new LionChief Hudson. It cost $650 which compared to Hudsons of the 90’s is a bargain.
How about putting electrical tape under the bottom of the cow catcher to avoid it shorting on the center rail? I’m guessing that could bother some purists. I’m lucky enough to have seen a grey Hudson with round tender in November 2022. It was amongst a fascinating varied collection which all by itself could be a museum.
You don't put electrical tape on the bottom of a $4,000 engine.

You wouldn’t. I would.
I have one the tender is falling apart. I’m looking for a tender.
Those earlier ones are nicer. We have a Hudson, but the detail isn't as nice.

Trains with three rails? Nah.
I bet ur fun
@@colestrains1 A laugh a minute.
oh cmom man it's fun
@@joeyBirskovich 3 rails = 3 times more realism😉
That and the outrageous cost for anything Lionel is why I went to American Flyer. I can get a AF Hudson for less than $200. 2 rail track too.
