Hi there, this is an excellent video, so first of all - thank you! Secondly, I wondered if you can answer a question I have regarding 啊. When you use this "at the end of questions when there’s a need to emphasize your surprising sound or curiosity", must there be a 'question word' in the sentence? In your three examples, you use '怎么', '谁', and '哪里'. But could you replace 吗 with 啊 to have the same effect?

You can slow it down yourself on UA-cam. Click settings on the video and go to Playback speed. You should really get used to fast talking. What she's doing in this video is nothing near what you'll see when you get out there with this language. Chinese speak REALLY fast, and oftentimes much faster than she's speaking.
Best video on this extremely important topic that is not natural for foreign speakers to learn.

Hiya, a good question indeed:) yes, you can replace '吗' as well. e.g. 你不上学啊nǐ bú shàngxué a？= You're not going to school (sounding surprised)?
