As a Chinese, I have never thought about the differences between 不 and 没。It's like the grammar rules are built in in my mind. It good and very interesting to look at my own native language from a second language learners' perspective.
I have been studying Chinese with a Chinese teacher for a year and a half, but I have to tell you that your videos help me a lot to improve my Chinese. 谢谢老师, 我很喜欢你的课.
Thanks for making this video. Even if I can't remember all 8 rules, it's good to know there are rules. Sometimes Chinese seems random, so it's nice to see there are rules.
I had no idea there were this many differences between 沒 and 不. I will definitely keep this in mind! It was also great to learn a little more ab future and past tense!! 谢谢您老师 :)
I really benefit from these comparison videos! 不 vs 没,理解 vs 了解 ... I hope you will make more of these! maybe 认为 vs 以为 or 觉得。 my Chinese is not good yet but thanks to you at least I feel like I'm improving ♥
Thank you so much. Very appreciate your sharing. I have a question to ask you for a favor: what the differences between 对, 知道 and 明白? Thank you in advance.
Can you please make a video about the difference between: ba, ne and ma. Like for example, if I ask you "you are chinese, right?" Do I say "Ni shi Zhōngguó rén, ma?" or "Ni shi Zhōngguó rén, ne?" or "Ni shi Zhōngguó rén, ba?". What if I instead ask you "You are not chinese, right?". Do I say "Ni bu shi Zhōngguó rén, ma?", or "Ni bu shi Zhōngguó rén, ne?" or "Ni bu shi Zhōngguó rén, ba?". Thank you for being such a good teacher.
@@yiminchinese So you are saying these statements are correct, "Ni shi Zhōngguó rén, ma?", "Ni shi Zhōngguó rén, ba?", "Ni bu shi Zhōngguó rén, ma?", "Ni bu shi Zhōngguó rén, ba?".
Sooo, am I getting this correctly re Rule #5, that bù implies that "you refused" to answer the call and méi is just "you didn't" answer the call... correct?
Dear Yimin, could you please elaborate on the verb "gei", because I regularly get confused and cannot figure out who is actually the one giving snd who is the one something is given to when I hear "gei ni/gei wo/ni gei wo/gei wo ni..." Many thanks in advance 😊
I have heard a lot of actors say "mei shi " in dramas. It's normally translated to "it's nothing" after someone asked if they're OK. Is it right to use it?
1. Why didn't you answer the call? Is 你为什么不接电话? 2. Why don't you answer the call? Is the same 你为什么不接电话? How do we differentiate - by context or otherwise?

😋
Natives learn the language through their mother's milk that is why for a native things are just too normal.
It's because you acquire your mother tongue but don't learn it more grammatically just like learners of that language.
Such a clear explanation and great examples to follow! 谢谢 老师。
Your comment makes me so happy Stephen, xiexie 😊

hi my friend, the character of "mei shi" you are talking is "没事”, so it's another "shi" , not the "shi 是” we talk in the video.

1. Why didn't you answer the call? Is 你为什么不接电话?
2. Why don't you answer the call? Is the same 你为什么不接电话?
How do we differentiate - by context or otherwise?
yes , by context, your first example, the context would be like you see that your friend´s phone ringing, but he turned it off. so you ask 你为什么不接电话 😊
Nicely done.
