what if i say it with out 了 as the past tense sentence before where you said 比如说:他上个月去上海。and i say it in the same way like, 他昨天上中文课。to make the same meaning like {他昨天上中文课了} are these two sentences all correct?
Nothing wrong with the sentences if they are in a paragraph because Chinese is a contextual language. But it doesn't make the same meaning like 他昨天上中文课了

For the 2 questions at the end of your video, I think both are correct, depending on the case. 1. 你假期去了哪里? Asking a plain question - Where did you go during your vacation/holidays? 2. 你假期去哪里了? Asking a specific question - Which special place did you go during your vacation/holidays?

What an excellent video. Thank you so much! Now, it would be great to have a separate video on when you DON'T use le. You touch on it, but it seems there are so many more examples of when to omit le where I would have expected it to be used. For example, in the negative, in the negative/positive question, when using yi qi (together) , as in "we're going to leave together," etc.
@@AskAndy No I would not, because I read that you don't use le with yīqǐ. Is that true? If so, that's a good example of another case when not use le. But… If you use le here… Wǒ yào zǒu le? (I'm going to leave?) or here... Guò yī huì r wǒ yào zǒu le. (I'm going to leave later.) … why don't you use it here?: Jiù wǒ yī gè rén zǒu. (I will leave alone. / I am leaving alone.) Aren't they both in the "Be about to" pattern? Is it because if you only have Jiù and not yào, it doesn't fit into the "Be about to" pattern?
Good question. Actually we can use le with yiqi but there's an implied meaning: e.g. Tamen yiqi zou le. They left together ( The implied meaning for that le is: They didn't plan to leave together but they did so that's a change of state)

Howdy Mr. Andy, once again I have a problem, I have looked for the right way to say next and last, but I have seen that, for instance 2 months ago some use shàng or qián, and so is the same problem with next, in your example I could see displayed míng (which I use for days) but, can I use it for months, and years? Because I saw a video where the woman picked xià and hòu for :( Idk if I could convey my doubt, I have not the characters but those are some of I found from other youtube video sources

Hey andy 👋🏻
I have a question about traditional and simplified Chinese, are they just different when we are going to write ! Or there are much more differences between them when we speak !
They are two different versions of Chinese characters and have nothing to do with speaking
B is the usual one, because going on a holiday is something special, so not something one does every day.

Yuuu you’re really good teacher
What an excellent video. Thank you so much! Now, it would be great to have a separate video on when you DON'T use le. You touch on it, but it seems there are so many more examples of when to omit le where I would have expected it to be used. For example, in the negative, in the negative/positive question, when using yi qi (together) , as in "we're going to leave together," etc.
Thank you for your good feedback😊
"我们要一起走?" Do you expect a 了 in the end?
@@AskAndy No I would not, because I read that you don't use le with yīqǐ. Is that true? If so, that's a good example of another case when not use le.
But…
If you use le here…
Wǒ yào zǒu le? (I'm going to leave?)
or here...
Guò yī huì r wǒ yào zǒu le. (I'm going to leave later.)
… why don't you use it here?:
Jiù wǒ yī gè rén zǒu. (I will leave alone. / I am leaving alone.)
Aren't they both in the "Be about to" pattern?
Is it because if you only have Jiù and not yào, it doesn't fit into the "Be about to" pattern?
Good question.
Actually we can use le with yiqi but there's an implied meaning:
e.g. Tamen yiqi zou le.
They left together ( The implied meaning for that le is: They didn't plan to leave together but they did so that's a change of state)
Jiu wo yi ge ren zou.
Lit. Just me alone leave.
That jiu isn't part of the BE ABOUT TO pattern
I translate le as already , makes things easier on me
Answer
Ni jiaqi qu nali le
, correct?
Correct!
Excellent thanks

This is a long video which took me ages to design and select good examples to make the complicated topic easier for you guys to understand.
What's more, my son had chickenpox and stayed home for 2 weeks plus my Camtasia had a bug after the update which took me around a week to repair.

Thank you!
Ni weishenme gaoxing jile? Is this correct?
Correct.
It is very well worked out and understandable. I am glad that I found the channel, but then translating the whole thing into German again is a challenge because nothing can be translated from either English or Chinese, but I'm doing my best so that the Germans can also use this here. Thanks Andy
No problem
They should be grateful to you for your hard work.
Obrigado!
Thank you for your support, my dear friend!

So, I've read in, "Essential mandarin chinese Grammar"
Amazing the 了 possibilities. I need to have them learned for my sake
😊👍
Is it all about ' 了 ' yes ?
For 了 le, yes but 了 has the other pronunciation "liao"
Next month 下个月 Xia ge yue
Next week 下个星期Xia ge xingqi/ 下周 Xiazhou
Next year 明年Mingnian
Last month 上个月 Shang ge yue
Last week 上个星期 Shang ge xingqi / 上周 Shang zhou
Last year 去年 qu nian

This is so interesting lesson. Thanks sir Andy.
Good to know you find the lesson interesting. :)
How to use 了le is a tricky question. Lots of learners asked me about that because they are confused by their teachers' explanation.
I hope I haved made it clear to you.
With pleasure :)
Do you have a video on how to use 把?
It is my next video lesson😊
Thank you for making the 把 video. I've been waiting for it and so excited to watch it today. 谢谢
