      I would say the B translation is the better one, because when you ask someone where did he/she go on vacation, you already know that going on vacation is something special for that person, and it doesn't really matter where he/she went to or the fact that he/she goes there every year. ///// By the way, your videos are awesome, I'm learning more from you that from my Chinese textbook. My regards from Argentina. 謝謝你!

    This is the BEST explanation so far. Even though, us Vietnamese have some equivalent words which can help us get this quickly, but most teachers explain this in a too-much textbook way. All the problems are solved in this video. AMAZING man, keep it up!

    My God! 😰 I mean... Wow... I begin to be interested in Chinese mandarin language nowadays... Sometimes I think, it's ok, I can do it... Sometimes I just wonder and see with frightened eyes and am about to give up... Don't misunderstand me, it's a great video but my vocabulary is very poor yet so I need more time to understand the explanations and the example sentences. And yet, after 2-3 weeks of learning it's understandable for me. You are great, Andy, thank you!

    what if i say it with out 了 as the past tense sentence before where you said 比如说:他上个月去上海。and i say it in the same way like, 他昨天上中文课。to make the same meaning like {他昨天上中文课了} are these two sentences all correct?

    For the 2 questions at the end of your video, I think both are correct, depending on the case.
    1. 你假期去了哪里?
    Asking a plain question - Where did you go during your vacation/holidays?
    2. 你假期去哪里了?
    Asking a specific question - Which special place did you go during your vacation/holidays?

    What an excellent video. Thank you so much! Now, it would be great to have a separate video on when you DON'T use le. You touch on it, but it seems there are so many more examples of when to omit le where I would have expected it to be used. For example, in the negative, in the negative/positive question, when using yi qi (together) , as in "we're going to leave together," etc.

      "我们要一起走?" Do you expect a 了 in the end?

    • @briantomoconnor
      @briantomoconnor 3 роки тому

      @@AskAndy No I would not, because I read that you don't use le with yīqǐ. Is that true? If so, that's a good example of another case when not use le.
      But…
      If you use le here…
      Wǒ yào zǒu le? (I'm going to leave?)
      or here...
      Guò yī huì r wǒ yào zǒu le. (I'm going to leave later.)
      … why don't you use it here?:
      Jiù wǒ yī gè rén zǒu. (I will leave alone. / I am leaving alone.)
      Aren't they both in the "Be about to" pattern?
      Is it because if you only have Jiù and not yào, it doesn't fit into the "Be about to" pattern?

    • @AskAndy
      @AskAndy  3 роки тому +2

      Good question.
      Actually we can use le with yiqi but there's an implied meaning:
      e.g. Tamen yiqi zou le.
      They left together ( The implied meaning for that le is: They didn't plan to leave together but they did so that's a change of state)

    • @AskAndy
      @AskAndy  3 роки тому +1

      Jiu wo yi ge ren zou.
      Lit. Just me alone leave.
      That jiu isn't part of the BE ABOUT TO pattern

    Howdy Mr. Andy, once again I have a problem, I have looked for the right way to say next and last, but I have seen that, for instance 2 months ago some use shàng or qián, and so is the same problem with next, in your example I could see displayed míng (which I use for days) but, can I use it for months, and years? Because I saw a video where the woman picked xià and hòu for :( Idk if I could convey my doubt, I have not the characters but those are some of I found from other youtube video sources
