I'd note that I think the big thing about it is that we have to decide at *exactly* what point we want to cut off the representation. And... WEll... A player race that is Water Soluble is kinda just not the kind of thing that 5e can support. Also that if you want Squid Stuff, your main option is actual aquatic races.
Hey man, sorry this isn't fun for you anymore, I'm still enjoying it and it always brings joy to my face. Wishing you well, hope you go through what you are going through.
Phil, we love and appreciate these videos, especially knowing how much your interest ( and ours) in the D&D property has waned after the... foibles... that WotC have engaged in this year. Nobody will get saucy if you want to shift focus to another system. Personally, I'd be super jazzed to see you tackle something as different from D&D as possible, like Exalted or Shadowrun. Just know that we'll keep coming back for new videos, whatever they're about.
It's sad watching people you admire stop enjoying the thing you admired them for. I'm gonna join the Patreon. So Tulok can make more things to watch. But not to ask Tulok for more Building Character. The ride is over. It was a good ride. You da bomb, bro.
Sad to hear youre not enjoying making these vids as much anymore, hope you can find creative passion again, either for these or for something new. I've been enjoying the MTG jokes and references a lot, very interested in what kind if MTG content you'd make
I was always hoping to see what you'd do for Inkling. Honestly, in the meantime I always thought a reflavored Plasmoid with the Artillerist Artificer (mostly for guns, less for squid) would be a good fit. Honestly though, I really like that you tried to go for a more direct interpretation of an Inkling's skills and abilities. It definitely was a challenge, but I think you did the best you could given how different the kinds of games are. Love your videos as always. Thanks for making it!
I'm not going to say "Crazy Druid Obsessed With Turning Everything Purple" is the best idea that ever came out of this series, but it's definitely up there.
It seems like your heart isn't really in this anymore which is understandable, but it is still great to see when a new episode comes out. Don't feel like you have to put anything else out, but if you want to finish off any other series I'll keep being excited to see them pop up in my feed.
Tulok, love your content but if you're not enjoying it anymore then I'd rather you do something you enjoy than please me. Please do what you need to be happy
Not to worry; an actual Splatoon appreciator here, and I can help improve this build with some more spells. Flame Blade - Inkbrush. Hey, the ink could also be really hot. As in temperature-wise. Speak with Animals - There are a lot of different animals in Splatoon, most of them marine life. This is probably how the Inklings understand them all. Enlarge/Reduce - You ever hide in your team's ink, see an opponent, swim under them, pop up behind them, and attack? Yeah, that's what this is. Fire Shield - This makes for a good Bubbler, even if it only protects against fire or cold damage depending on what kind of "fire shield" you use. Investiture of Flame - This goes well with Investiture of Ice so you can splat both hot and cold. Regenerate - In case you lose a tentacle and wanna grow it back. Squid fact! Fire Storm - This could make for a great Inkstrike nuke. Sunburst - Another good choice for Inkstrike. Man, I'm good at this. Tulok, you should pass this series on to me for when I'm not doing my let's plays and whatnot. Maybe I could build Kirby since you probably never will.
Never met a Land Druid enjoyer, but I think most of us here are Tulok enjoyers. Am looking forward to seeing what you might make on here beyond BC because it is more fun when you're enjoying this channel. I know one of the fans has a spreadsheet going, but am curious who and how many Smash characters there are left. Am also vaguely curious if you might remake one of your Kingdom Hearts characters as the final character. You said last build, these tend to be more work than worth it, so I get it if these just stop one day without a last harrah.
@@Shalakor Yeah, I always thought it was the Wizard Druid, but Ranger Druid is way more accurate for it features. Unlike Ranger that has gotten multiple updates over the years, this subclass never got any tune ups.
@@TheMARStudios Yeah, the extra spell slots on one short rest are nice, but it's basically the Wizard Druid insofar as being somewhat equivalent to playing a Wizard with no subclass.
Does it still count as a parasocial relationship if the youtuber is practically posting cries for help? I'm sure. he can make different videos and I'd watch them. I like him more than D&D, but I like that too.
I feel like the spell Tasha's Caustic Brew would have really made this build come to life. Could multiclass Artificer for it, then go a little deeper for Artillerist and create ink cannons that blast
We love you, boss. We love that you enjoyed this. The byproduct of you enjoying this has been the channel and the series. The sauce is your genuine joy in this process. I'd rather you focus on that.
Man it sounds like you're super over this series already. I'm sorry to hear that, because I do enjoy watching your vids even though I don't play the game anymore. Appreciate all the work you've put in over the past few years.
I'm sorry you're having less fun with these builds but hot DANG this energy is amazing and I am glad you brought it to this video. This is truly nailing the absurdity of making a D&D version of a fighting game version of a character from a shooter/platformer.
Today, we have learned that *sometimes,* the weird build that shouldn't work in D&D, doesn't work in D&D. The fact that this is surprising, is itself rather surprising.
I'm actually playing a Spraypaint themed bard for a game, and I did a deep dive to splatoon for a few ideas when I made him. Not one to one mind you, made him a creation bard to paint things into reality, but I'm eager to see where Tulok goes with this
The ground that was inked by the Inkling actually can slow down the enemies who step into it. AOE splat bombs are a good option and do force damage and bludgeoning damage since the Splat Bombs act as explosions. And a Special Weapon which is the inkzooka will deal massive damage and ink the ground in the direction it was fired at and can do blast radius effect. Not to mention, the multiple of Splatoon weapons as well.
Awwww. I wanted one last character to try out. I wanted to play as Ultron if I could find a decent build for him. Nevertheless I wish you the best of luck on your next ventures and I subscribed for more!
I’m getting the feeling that you don’t like regular Druids too much. Lmao. I love your building character videos, they give me lots of ideas for my own characters and what to give them, as well as showing me combos and spells/abilities I hadn’t thought about. I pray the burnout isn’t too harsh, but if it is I hope it isn’t too hard to deal with. Thanks for the awesome videos.
I'm honestly surprised that poison and acid spells weren't utilised in this build for coloured liquid damage. I'm not saying it would have made it amazing, but poison spray and primal savagery (for the melee attacks like the roller) are on the default druid list, and spells like acid splash, chromatic orb, Tasha's caustic brew, vitriolic sphere, and prismatic spray would be thematic if you could get them and help with combat. Also using one of the disgarded feats to get an ink elemental familiar from the Strixhaven book would be interesting.
Still pulling for Eglentine Price (Bednobs and Broomsticks), Prince Voltron (Flash Gordon), Sir Dragonet, King Arthur's jester (Iddyls of the King/le Morte d'arthur), Mary Poppins, Councilor Troi (ST:tNG), Septimus Pretorius (Bride of Frankenstein), Winifred Sanderson (Hocus Pocus), and the Reverend Doctor Syn (The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh).
I'm sending this to my brother, who was big into Splatoon and is an inkling main in competitive smash. Long story short I was actually sleeping on how good he was at competitive smash and I feel like I need to make it up to him somehow.
I'm playing around with the idea of making a version of Santa Claus from Violent Night for the fun of it. Part Creation Bard and part Battle Master Fighter (tentatively).
We are back to the wonderful and colorful wonders of the Nintendo post apocalyptic worlds! Where the agents of order can be busy in debates friendship, fashion, and the best greetings method but still make room to save the day (just like Tangle the lemur! Although with a little less number of limbs a build to see the value of one single awesome appendage could be neat, Sir Tulok please?) The inklings are a carefree species of cephalopods who's evolutionary process was accelerated by the old humans of Alterna, an effect that would affect many of the marine life, touching them with human thoughts and allowing them to eventually make settlements for their own, where competitive warfare and drip is the biggest concerns of it's habitants thanks to the efforts of the agents of the Squidbeak Splatoon, who keep the peace of Inkopolis
Also, while I know this is a bit of a struggle, I not only appreciate the effort you put in all the same, but love the sarcasm and criticism thrown at D&D in this one.
Yeah, I love these videos, but not at his expense like this. It's like if I had to watch the child slave labor that goes into the clothes I grab off the clearance rack Marshall's. What a drag. Get well soon Tulok.
Hey! I'm back! Sorry, but I was a bit burnt out on dnd for a bit, but now I'm back with my algorithm boosting comment. I've been all over and can't find any links to the PDFs for the character sheets. I've been subbed to the patreon for what feels like a year. Now I can't find it. Did he remove it or just made it impossibly hard to find?
Yeah, more building character. Relish each of these, even though you should already have a good model for w/e D&D character you're creating, because Tulok has jokes.
One thing I'm tempted to note about Area Denial is... doesn't druid get at least a couple of spells to pull enemies out of the sky? Although admittedly I definitely think the issue with this is just Land Druid holding the build back. ALSO would be tempted to argue a version of this using Spores Druid. Symbiotic trait as Ink Armor, Spreading Spores as a splat bomb or toxic mist equivalent... Heck, considering Splatoon 3's lore about liquid crystals with peoples' memories in them you could even justify the weird obsession with Paint and Ink and the idea that whatever you are you're caught in a symbiotic relationship with.
Hey can you make a character and build for Karas the prophecy or maybe give me a idea i am trying maybe like a paladin and rogue but i don't know if you can give me any idea

Phil, please. Don't force yourself to make these if you don't enjoy them anymore.
He shouldn't make content at all anymore if he's gonna be a god damn suck up for leftist drivel on Twitter
Before anyone complains about aquatic adaptation, inklings swim in the ink even if they are water soluble

I feel like we're coming to the point of watching a super villain origin in the making.
Glad to hear you at least want to finish the Smash roster. Weird builds that really shouldn't work in d&d are always the most fun ones
Meanwhile I’m waiting for Ike and Terry
Come for the Inkling build, stay for the Circle of the Land slander. 😂
As a Splatoon fan, I see this a complete win.

Made it a simic hybrid, but didn't mention the Simic 5th level adaptation that lets you attach squid tentacle to your head.
It’s almost like this series is barely worth continuing anymore because it’s not fun nor profitable, so he’s not giving it a 100% any more eh?

There are 40 on the play list, this would make 41 so a fair few to go to get to 89, depends how different clone characters are to their original.

I hope you never stop making these videos
9:18 i think you can get garfield to supermans level if you give him toonforce/bend reality cuz funny feats
I believe in my heart that Garfield could kill Superman if Lasagne was on the line.
Even with a character which does not lend itself well to D&D, it was a an entertaining build. These videos are always a highlight to my day.

I was literally planning to retire a character, so this is 100% up my alley
I've really been enjoying the Elden Ring videos!
Nirvana was my top most listened to artist this year on Spotify, I very much appreciate the Terroritorial Pissing references.

what was that opening song?
"I'm Just a Kid" by Simple Plan (same guys who did the theme to What's New Scooby-Doo)
