Go to you shield menu drop the shield on the ground, hold the master sword and go to your runes/abilities menu and choose fuse, then fuse the shield tp your master sword with your attack button.

It’s crazy to think that at the beginning of the game when Ganon took links arm that we would come full circle at the end and he goes out of his way to say to link that this time he would be taking so much more than his arm in this climatic final battle had me in absolute shock, couldn’t believe it
I have at least 270 hours on this game, every shrink, every battery, and every sages will done. And yet I did not know you can hit the flying gloom things back towards Ganondorf
do you not remember how common Dead Man's Volley is in the Ganon fights? practically every Ganon fight after the OG has had a Dead Man's Volley attack: Ganondorf and Phantom Ganon from OoT, Ganon from Four Swords Adventure, Phantom Ganon from Wind Waker, Possessed (by Ganon) Zelda from Twilight Princess, etc.
To add to that, the shield looks more like some kind of magic addon to it as opposed to just being a shield on a sword. Gives the Master Sword a slightly more magical look to it that way.
In my opinion it should be optional to parry with a Sword as well with the difference to a shield being that you cannot parry everything and you have to take a blow if you miss the Timing instead of just blocking with your shield
I really wish there was just a pure weapon parry mechanic. Especially considering that this version of link doesn’t often carry a shield at all in many of the cut scenes. If link is the best swordsman in the land that should be natural for him.
