How to Play Kain in Dungeons & Dragons (Soul Reaver Build for D&D 5e)

- Today we have a build for Kain from the Legacy of Kain series in Dungeons & Dragons. This brings the power of Soul Reaver into D&D 5e.

The original Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen was my favorite game ever, back in the day. I got a demo on a demo-disc that came with a magazine, played it to *death,* to the point where I can *still* quote the opening lines verbatim, decades later. Eventually got the full game, and played THAT to death. None of the sequels ever recaptured that magic for me, not even when they finally put Kain himself back in the driver's seat with Blood Omen 2... maybe no surprise, seeing as only the first game was produced by the original devs at Silicon Knight - not that they exactly covered themselves in glory *after* that point, I suppose!

Honestly Kain would be a fantastic villain or rival NPC for the party to play against. He definitely has the speeches for it.
Raziel: Shall I show you the same mercy you showed the rest of the Circle, then? You blithely murdered them to restore their Pillars, yet your hand faltered when it came to the final sacrifice.
What makes you exempt, Kain? You're merely the last man standing.
Why condemn me for simply carrying out what you hadn't the courage to do yourself?
Kain: Let's drop the moral posturing, shall we? We both know there's no altruism in this pursuit.
Your reckless indignation led you here - I counted on it. There's no shame in it, Raziel - revenge is motivation enough.

Would it just be this build, but with Soul Knife Rogue instead of the Warlock levels?
I appreciate that the LoK build integrates the most important element from the 3d games: moving around 5ft cubes.

This is a fascinating concept to me. It's real interesting how some games make powers more or less useful than others. Need to do more research on this honestly.
I'm so happy to see this get some love. This series needs or rem make. Or at least a remaster, it is such a good series. I really hope you do Raziel as well

I know its not the same, but RainaAudron made an AI upscale for the dream cast emulator, its pretty good
@raeje Yeah seriously. Amy Hennig may be mostly known for the Uncharted series, but I'll always associate her with LoK first.
Anytime some talks about Legacy of Kain, my Heart of Darkness grows a size. D&D is a great place to draw inspiration from it as well!

One of if not THE best written action game series ever created. The time cross-crossing drama is on par with some of the best fantasy books.
Also one of the best if not the best, and in my opinion, actually is the best vampire game ever made. Vampire is the masquerade is okay. But it's so open world that it is hard to really go through the story line in my opinion.
Love this! Can’t wait to see my dads reaction (he introduced me to the Legacy of Kain series when I was a kid). Also can’t wait for Raziel to come around. 😁
Completing the duo of protagonists of this series is a great milestone! Surely Sir Tulok will celebrate it with a Tangle the lemur build soon(tm). But in the meantime fighting fate itself should be entertaining

I am playing Raziel in a CoS game that has been going for 6 years now. Strahd is his Kane.

Coincindally my character that i play is called Kain, cause i'm a LoK fan since day 1 when i firs played Blood Omen.
Even tho its NOT a 1:1 character.
He's a Mix of Kain, and Guts and he's a Dark Knight (Vengeance paladin/Hexblade) Tiefling.

Half expected a bamboozle, making him an Undead instead of Hexblade for more vampire flavor but ya can't beat how good it feels to be SAD.
Always been vaguely aware of the Legacy of Cain series, so is neat vicariously learn things about it through this.

A Dhampir Sorlock named Kain who's got the 2 most edgiest subclasses for Warlock and Sorcerer. This game probably came out in the 90's when people thought being real edgy was super cool, and they're right, Kain seems pretty cool.

Eh...you really can't have one without the other. Raziel was made into what he became because of Kain throwing him into the Lake of the Damned after all.
@@jeremiahbristow7609 yeah but I was a little brother at the time who'd never heard of the first game, didn't care about stories, and wanted to watch my brother do the cool pull down front of shirt and eat soul thing. raziel is emblazoned in my earlier memories. kain is like..."who's kain?"
