- In this video we see footage of shocks in action under the car while going over a bumpy roadway, a highway, stop and go traffic, and speed bumps. I compare the original shocks that are 14 years old and have 125,000 miles on them with brand new Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks to see the difference.

Car videos take on a whole new level of professionalism here, I'm very impressed.
95TurboSol Thanks bud! That means a lot!
ChrisFix Second. I was was watching some clips from "pros" who had a professional studio to work in, a model perfect fake shop, a beautiful spotless engine to "work" on for their tutorial, and after their wonderfully presented speech and great body posture and eye contact, I wish I had spent the time watching a Tom and Jerry cartoon. Likewise some other pro dude swapping out an automatic transmission with a brand new six speed stick shift went through the motions, and filled in the gaps with "figure it out on your own", and "you're SOL"
Great video, Where do u stay in USA??? Informative, I am from India I want to diploma in car mechanism...
No joke. Love 'em
@@chrisfix I have a question, why are the rear shocks on a truck or any solid axle vehicle on opposite sides, one is on the back right and the other is in front of the axle on the front left... 4:45
Who puts a stop sign on a merge lane for a highway?
In California we have stop lights now... They "help" congestion.
+Leon Jones I hate those. What used to take me 7 min to get from the 10 to the 210 via the 605 now takes me 30min
Big Hueso Yeah and the lights don't really do much, but when I had a 97 4 cylinder car I couldn't get up past 35 on the on ramp... Which was annoying.. That and now I see all sorts of people blowing through them..

you can tell a lot of work went into editing the video. Really appreciate the amount of work put into the video. Keep it up chris
+earthcry Thanks a lot! Yea, I put 20+hrs of just editing into all of my videos!
That's what set you way above the other you-toubers. Good looking out for the viewers. I don't have the urge to skip your videos because they're to the points and short!
ChrisFix do you have to lift your truck to change the shocks?
Why does people dislike such great useful videos like this one !!
Thanks for correcting that it really notified me of something.
gee, i can't imagine, Why does you think?
Butterfingers, that's why
Because people want attention
Because they were looking to fix bike shocks
One of the best UA-cam channels, I’m learning mechanics and you’re videos honestly help so much and they’re fun to watch. Thanks!
I appreciate the paint on the rear axel man.
+momma1taught1me1good Yea, it makes it so much easier to work on my truck when I clean then paint everything. Glad you liked it!
+ChrisFix what do you use to clean? Just a degreaser? Or did you sand it down at all.
+Parker Phinney I will be doing a video on the process so stay tuned!
Did you felt the bumps more with the old shocks as if the bumps were hitting you ?
Don't stop posting more of these 'how your car works' videos, Chris. Seriously, I learn something new every time. Awesome job man.
Thanks for taking the time to show us the side by side comparison between the old and worn out shocks and the new ones. You still make the best automotive videos on youtube; no one compares to the quality, content, and jam packed information as your videos do :)
Your videos are incredible man.
I truly mean this when I say this, please, keep this up. Not only is this educational, but also pretty entertaining!
Keep up the good work!!!
As a Auto/diesel Technician 38 years this video is right up there with others I have shown people through the years as what shocks that are bad what they do when compared to a new shock. It also shows how much harder other components work due to bad shocks. Thumbs up to the time to make to video to.
Thanks a lot!
this is deserving of a subscription
Thanks and welcome aboard!
Thank you for doing what nobody else has done before... Great piece of investigative reporting... Great job.
ChrisFix, you never cease to amaze me with your in depth an enjoyable presentations of the seemingly mundane. Thank you!
didn't see anyone write this sooooo ,that was shocking :o
+Odhran Fearnon haha
ohhhh ty that sounds like fun
ah punssss
What I admire about you chris, is that most big UA-camrs (not including you) do not pay attention to the comment section. I believe it is a very vital part of keeping and maintaining a good UA-cam community. You in the other hand do the opposit. I notice you will still pay attention to the older videos constantly and see what valued viewers have to say. Keep up the superior work Chris!
I spend 4 hours every day trying to answer as many questions and comments as I can. You guys are what keeps me going and I appreciate the support!
ChrisFix Wow! Props the dedication!
You have expressed my exact thought too.
You are the best. I just called over my son to show him this video. He is taking up engineering in school and wanted him to understand the vibration/dampening in action. When he saw this video he said, oh I know this guy (Chris Fix), he is really good. I said I know. Thanks for all your videos. Has saved me money with doing my own repairs. For example, I do most repairs myself but didn't want to take any chances with the brakes (fear of the unknown). Seeing your videos gave me the confidence to do it myself. Peace!
I love the youtube comment section so much, sometimes you can learn more from the comments than some videos.
New subscriber: This channel is surprisingly informative and easy to follow along to. 100% would recommend, keep up the great work Chris!
Amazing how much detail you show in each video. Hats off to you. Keep it up brother. Learning a lot of mistakes i have done and ignored in the past.
Hey Chris I love your videos I love working on cars but I don't consider myself a mechanic. Thanks to your videos my 06 civic got shocks, power steering fluid, brake fluid, head cover gasket, and so much more replaced. I watch other Chanel's like Scotty Kilmer and ETCG but your videos explain everything easy to understand and they're not long and boring. Just want to say thanks and keep up the good work. :)
***** ETCG does make long ones
***** And i love scotty. he does a a live car talk tomorrow at 10 am
Scotty is a funny guy and very knowledgeable of course, but some of his videos doesn't explain well the process. He goes too quick and I believe he assumes his audience some of the process, therefore he just skipped some steps or just verbally explain them.
Yeah! ChrisFix is better!!
i LOVE side by side comparison.
Great material. Very instructional and simply explained. Best channel for people who wanna learn about cars and actually see it at work. Kudos!
Your videos are the highest quality on here. I'm a tech myself and enjoy watching automotive-related videos. The content and narration are top notch! Thanks for all you do Chris.
Thanks a lot!
I was looking for a video exactly like this one! Thank you for the upload!
That GTR THOUGH
Woooord!!
Dominicandante1 Gaming Thank God for you not saying "That GTR doe"
jet052673 No, thank Dominicandante1 Gaming for not saying that.
WAS ABOUT TO SAY THE SAME THING
What about it ?
Excellent work, currently trying to work out some shock / leaf spring issues with my truck. this video gives me a great example of what is going on under my vehicle.
Great video Chris, the cameras mounted under the truck were fantastic! Great before vs after footage 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love your videos bro! Been a subscriber for 1 month barely and so far I probably spent some time watching all of your videos. I learned so much! Thanks for this amazing channel!
Thanks a lot man. Glad you subbed and welcome aboard! I'm also glad you are enjoying the videos!
A very well made video!
I'm not particularly interested in cars per say however your production is very focused on what you're trying to show and is why I subscribed.
Thanks a lot! I am glad you enjoyed the video and even though you arent into cars I think you will enjoy the videos I produce!
I now realize ... this is all shot in diferent times.. e.g. showing both old and new shocks at the same time must have been in the middle of your build. and then cuts to where you remove the tire but then the shock is still at the car.
e.g you show us what happens without shocks... but there you allready painted the diff. that means you knew in the beginning of the vid that you will need that shot and camera angle. Also you talk smooth over in just one take... thats just amazing.
Its so seamless... the script and the editing is way beyond what some one normaly would expect.
Great Job!
Great work Chris. The visuals and camera angles give out great info.
Man what you call a bumpy road I'd call pretty damn smooth.
Thanks for the video. Now I know how badly my car feels it when I hit an unpainted speed bump by accident
Same here lmao
Imagine going on a bumpy dirt road that’s had a few rounds after the rain
Monroe is really pushing their brand on youtubers. I like it.
BucketList Wonder how much are high performance shocks are
The ones I want for my truck are built for heavy duty off-road racing they go for 3.8k made by icon vehicle dynamics.
BucketList I honestly wouldn't mind it if Munroe threw me a set of free shock absorbers with the only clause being 'Make a YT video about them'.
+TestECull id make 2 or 3 YT videos for a set of stock replacement shocks from any brand....free is free and i don't race my pickup, it's just daily transportation
Thank you Chrisfix! I think about this video whenever I drive over any kind bump or dip on the road and think, "what if something breaks that chisfix hasn't covered?!" lol. I love this channel
Really, really good video! Thanks for taking the time to make it and sharing it. I'd definitely donate a dollar or two to keep you making these quick and useful auto DYI videos. :)
Absolutely love these kind of videos, no dogswhit, no useless talks, straight to the point. Also great as educational material. Good job
Another quality Chris fix video like always.
I have a 95 Ranger, and it's basically the same truck, i feel so lucky because I am learning a lot more about my truck so far, i hope you keep doing videos like that.
Thanks bro.
I have to comment, excellent video. clear voice, proper before and after comparison, frame by frame explanation. thanks for the video.
Damn it's crazy how much a coat of black paint changes the way the suspension looks. Great video and interesting to see the movement especially the drivetrain twist.
Lmao😂👍🏻
The Curious Noob Spray BOMB!
The Curious Noob I know right? That is why I do it (plus I hate rust). Thanks a lot bud!
Nice video, and educational. It also illustrates how much automotive technology is taken for granted. There's nothing like seeing things work in real life to make you appreciate them.
+Gary Hatch Thanks a lot! I had to put my phone away when I was filming and live streaming the footage because I really wanted to see what was going on as the camera recorded and I drove lol.
Dude your videos and explainations are awesome and easy to understand and to give a try to do it yourself. Thanks a lot and keep on the good stuff...
Even after 6 years this is still a very nice video, thanks, love your channel!

You are really experienced man and your videos are amazing.
Keep up the good work..
Greetings from Saudi Arabia...
Thanks, Chris, for showing how important shocks are in this video. 2013 Fusion Energi with 225,000 miles and not a single worn suspension part because the shocks/struts have been replaced when due!!!
Great video man! Now I get to see how the suspension work..I mean..I do know what it does but never see it in action..keep up the good work! 👍
Just found your channel. Had to sub. These are some of the best automotive vids out there please keep them coming
3:48 le wilde GTR appears !
+sermerlin1 Thought the exact same thing, lol.
Cant get over the twist on that axle. Hard to believe there arent more stories of leaf spring breaking due to that twist. Thanks for that. Good vid.
Really awesome comparison with side by side footage Chris!
Great video! In addition, i suggest you add a small leaf to stiffen the leaf pack to get rid of that axle wrap. I had put a set of very light duty add-a-leaf to my tacoma and it took care of the axle wrap as you pointed out in the video. But that's just a suggestion, since it did stiffen the rear end up a bit.. But if you're after more control, that would be beneficial. I got no lift out of it, but surely more control.
Really, really well done Chris. The time you take to do these videos and the quality work you put into them is impressive to say the least.
Excellent video! The side by sides were great
GTR!!!! Great feature💯🔰🇯🇵
Great video btw. I remember when you had lil subscribers, but look at you now mahn, congrats. Pls keep it up. I learn alot here.
Really interesting videos.. didnt think about it till now. Thanks Chris Fix.. pls upload mire videos on car repairing in emergency situations of breakdown.
Good idea
@@chrisfixawesome idea, if you do this, mention the 'bang on ur gas tank to get your fuel pump working' trick.. it recently saved my butt
Tommy what trick?
I don't get why everyone is hyped to see a GTR it's everywhere... and not to mention it would have been better if you could put all attention to Chris when he's explaining what the shocks are doing in various conditions....
If you live near me they are EVERYWHERE.
***** they are not very popular over here only have seen like 15
Great video man. Thanks for all the excellent work you produce
I love your videos, they help me out a lot with my car. I appreciate your hard work in these videos, I learn a lot. Semper
Anyone else notice the big rock sticking out of the hole near the top of the shock absorber? xD
Jupp
Yeah, wanted to reach through the screen and pull it out of there. My OCD kicked in so hard 😫
Subscribed solely for this video, as an engineer I greatly appreciate that you took the time to qualitatively analyze your findings in a visual way.
+CinicalProduction Thanks a lot. I am glad you enjoyed the video! Welcome aboard!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Very informative.
This is the first video i have ever watched on this chanel one year ago and it got me hooked ^ ^
Awesome! Thanks for the support since then!
Thanks Chris for putting all the time and effort into the video something most of us take for granted. I've been procrastinating this shock replacement job but you kind of made it look fun. Well, not fun fun, but not so bad.
Really good editing
+Rangles The Great Thanks a lot!
That's amazing man, I never ever thought that I might see a video like this one.
I don't even care about lot about cars, but your videos are so well made they are just very interesting to watch. happy to be subscribed to your channel
Woah.. he took that tire out in ease... he didn't even unbolt it, wow!
Troll Police If only it was that easy an switch between winter/summer tires....😂
Johan Öhgren see z
isnt there a spring along with the shocks? wheres his spring?
The springs for his truck are those long bars that flex and that are holding the rear axle as he shows in the beginning. It's just a different setup.
@Ryan Debono um yeah lol
This was a really cool video, not something you usually see.
I just changed the shocks on my own B3000. The ride is amazing now! I can look at this video of how smooth the ride is now over & over
Another high quality video. Thank you. Glad I found the channel.
i have so much homework to do and i dont even own a car. why am i watching this
+Nataly RAW LOL, that is exactly what happens on UA-cam and reddit, you end up watching things that you never would have on your own, wasting time, HOURS can go by! Fun and interesting though :)
+Nataly RAW Maybe you learned something new at least. Since most people drive cars every day and many people have no clue what is really going on when they drive, this is great to know and see!
Same lol
very nice guy. nice videos keep it up chris keep doing more videos like these
+Randy pimentel Thanks a lot Randy!
+ChrisFix your awesome haha...im guessing your making videos to fund more videos.. you have awesome content super detailed and gives alot of great info THANKS
+WoWkiddymage i love how you incorporate new points of view... by putting a camera under the car to show how much the shocks actaully do for your car... and same with other videos, from clean vs old coolant, taking apart of old filter, and especially the side by side comparison of the filters of flow testing... all this work you put into videos shows man... again awesome vids
he got some excellent videos

Awesome! It is simple! Glad the video was helpful!
One of the best videos, perfect video quality and easy to understand.
My dad always says that a good suspension allows you to go faster even with a stock engine. I admire him so much because that tip help me alot in the race track
Awesome! He is right! Good suspension, brakes, and tires.
Mmm i did not improve my tires.....

nice observations chris do you have a guide on painting the parts underneath the cars?
Thanks! I really need to make one of those videos! !
honestly just clean the underside real nice. find any rust and brush it off clean, then paint
