"I only wish you weren't my friend, then I could hurt you in the end."
What a line.
This was the opening line to my ex-wife when she left. Fast forward 10 years and we're together again! Lessons learned and greener pastures past, we were destined to be together.🤘
This song has a TON of great lines, my personal favorites are "If i can change, i hope i never know" and "It took the death of hope to let you go"
Pretty deep for a 14 year old yeah.
@@Kenlac92 you got the pfp of one
'Angels lie to keep control' gives me shivers
Beautiful piece. Another one that might be good to Judson's taste is Vermilion Pt.2. It would be nice to hear his opinion about that piece, before letting him listen and melting his brain to stuff like Disasterpiece, People = Sh*t or Duality 😂
My only thing about doing Vermilion Pt. 2 would be to have him listen to Vermilion first in a longer form video where he listens to them back to back. Pt 1(Vermilion) and Pt 2. are very different but the same song at the same time. It would be cool to get his insight on how they shape up against each other. From the perspective of a drummer, it's very clear to me that Pt 2. is meant to be more deliberately played/sung a certain way to draw heavier on the lyrics of the song. Vermilion to me seems to focus more on Paul, Clown, and Joey more than Pt 2. which HEAVILY was focused on Corey' vocals and the lyrics.
@@soulessshadow5356 wish came true lmao
@@TheOneAndOnlyCumGuzzler Yes it did!! I am so damn excited, I'm watching the video now :D
Coreys song about a relationship (of his) gone wrong
He initially thought it too 'soft' for Slipknot and was going to take it to his other band Stonesour, but was convinced by bassist Paul Grey to develop it for them
Lyrically very dark, musically beautiful
Tragically Paul died of an OD a year after the album came out - Corey does this song in his solo shows accoustic as a tribute to Paul, but the band still play it live - I saw them at Download 2023 in June and it was part of the set
Slipknot is predominatley angry energetic metal, but as you will discover hopefully its got elements of rap, hip hop, rock, metal, thrash, punk and even the odd bit of pop music!
I know very few people who don't like Snuff. If not for the music, for the lyrics. Very deep and profound. Although Corey's solo acoustic performance is probably the best version. He was still dealing with the death of one of his band mates, Paul Gray, when he did it, and you could feel the emotion in his voice.
Gets me in the feels every time i watch it...
Yeah it's about a past relationship and from what I understand this was one of the last songs they recorded with Paul Gray and why he always dedicates it to him and has another personal meaning to him. There's a couple acoustic live versions that are incredible.
It made me happy to find out even corey knows he nailed it that night
Listen to the acoustic version by Corey alone while touring with another one of his bands CMFT. Isaw a recent interview on a podcast. It's about the end of a six year relationship that toxic. He later dedicated it to one of the band members that passed who really liked the song, and was the reason it made it to the album.
Bruh, that yeehaw interpretation of "snuff" in the beginning cracked me up lol. I live in ga and have to say it was spot on lol.
😂😂
If you played this song for someone that didn’t already know there is no way in hell they would guess it was Slipknot! 😄 but it is a great song by any measure 🤘🏻.
So as 20+ Year slipknot fan, From what ive heard and seen was the song was about a past relationship but has multiple layers of meaning for Corey. This is the first song he wrote that made him feel like an actual member of slipknot. He wasn't really sure about it or even bringing it to the band. But he showed Paul (who passed away) and he really pushed corey and supported him to bring it to the band and get it done. So Not only is it about the past partner but it also has the feelings and emotions of the memories of his really good friend supporting him and pushing him to get it done. I may have missed a thing or two but im sure a fellow Maggot will add or correct me if i got something wrong.
Great info! Thanks for this. 🤘
These are some of the best reviews. The piano is my favorite instrument but I am a giant metal head. So to see these two combined is priceless. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see what else you guys react to.
Thanks for watching! 🤘
You got him on that one Richard! Up next some Blister Exist, or Opium for the People.
"Protect your neck, son" 💀 I am *dead*.
People out here saying he needs to work on his camera presence are wild - Judson is inarguably hilarious.
Edge of FUCKING Sanity!
That's my youth band man
Yes, it is a beautiful song.
When he said “horror film” I just pictured you introducing a lil’ *Ice Nine Kills* 🔪🩸😹🫶🏻
Found your channel today and can't stop watching... love to see some full piano covers by you... Respect from Australia..
The song was co-written with Paul Grey, and lyrically was about addiction ruining a relationship, as Corey was newly divorced, and Paul was having relationship issues with his wife, also centered around addiction. During the touring cycle for the album, Paul OD'd on a cocktail of prescription pain pills, Fentanyl, and Heroin. Due to the song being largely therapeutic for Corey and Paul being a brother in commiseration, who co-wrote the song and acted as his shoulder to lean on and earpiece to vent, it hit Corey especially hard. He hasn't performed the song live without crying since. When Paul died, I listened to the song on repeat and cried, too, so... no shade.
Definitely gives the song more meaning. Thanks for sharing this
Corey Taylor is a legend! Would love to see you guys listen to Through the Glass by Stone Sour (Corey's other band)
Great suggestion! 🤘
bother is another great song from stone sour too @@Greatmeasures
it's always a great compliment for the musician when someone after listening is immediately playing the song on the instrument
I only just discovered you guys but I am in love already. 🖤
This deserves more views
4:20 lol this guy is cracking me up
As someone who grew up in a less than healthy home, I had an addiction of sorts to chaos, to my own unpredictable emotional Russian roulette of suffering, so even though I never got into hard drugs or anything, I had some tumultuous experiences with VERY toxic relationships, where I gaslit my own self into being both solely at fault and victim, and as a fellow individual with Bipolar and ADHD, I can more than empathize with that raw feeling of unfiltered, unprocessed, overwhelming emotion, even if not to the same extent.
I can relate to being the victim and at fault so much. Sounds like you’re doing much better, simply based on your self awareness and where things needed to change. Stay strong, my friend.
Seems like a True G
Magician/Musician.He listens to understanding and appreciate the music open minded
One of my fav's
Dave Matthews Band is a real interesting one. Love the content guys. This fine cut wintergreen song is one of my favorites😂😂✌🏼🤘🏻
Love hearing the piano playing of whay he just heard.
Did not expect Slipknot but it's a pleasant surprise for sure
Favorite channel.
Do Eyeless next.
You can't see California without Marlon Brando's Eyes."
Fun stuff.
I like that idea 🤘
Oh man I'd LOVE to see his reaction to a band called Protest The Hero. They have a tendency to do long piano-solo intros and outros to their songs, as well as the sheer insanity of how they use their instruments.
If you do decide to go for it at any point, I'd suggest C'Est La Vie, From The Sky, Hair-Trigger or Tilting Against Windmills. They're a bit out there but musically so bloody talented.
R.I.P Paul Gray
Edge of Sanity your best shirt, how about a Crimson reaction ? ;)
You should do something by Randy Rhoads like Revelation (mother earth) or Mr. Crowley :)
Another great video you guys!! Can I make a suggestion/request from you guys for your videos? I was wondering, if it wasn't too much trouble, could Judson do a whole version of the song on piano he reacts to at the end of the reaction? OR maybe if no time for that, make a whole other video of doing whole versions of the songs he's heard. I LOVE hearing just piano and would LOVE to hear him play the whole thing and see him "tickle the ivories" more! Thanks guys!!!🫶🏼❤️🤘🏻
I’m trying to encourage him to do some full covers. Hopefully he’ll decide to in the future. 🤞
@@Greatmeasures YES!! I hope he does! He's so talented!
Funny how the very next song on the album is one of the most brutal songs in their discography xD
Thinking about doing some Godspeed You! Black Emperor? Maybe the song Sleep or Moya
That’s a killer t-shirt Richard!!
Thank you! 🤘
And Just like that Slipknot on a Piano and im all for it.
Genuine not over the top reactions. Excellent. I mean Through the fire and flames is obvious but has to be done. An alternative favourite for me would be David Keenan Altar Wine live. Check it out 👍
Thank you! I definitely want to get to the Dragonforce song soon.
hey guys, congratulations for the videos, it's really fun. it would be cool to react to the Soothsayer - Buckethead , greetings from Brazil
Thanks for the recommendation! 🤘
Which side is left and right on headphones?
1. The L on the earphone is the left sound channel. Wear the left ear. R is for the right channel, wear the right ear.
Hello guys from Scotland 🏴 Just found you, because I’m a massive fan of REN, and am so glad I did ☺️ loving your reactions 👏 Could I ask you both to look at a female singer called Yebba singing Evergreen (the music video where she’s singing in a church). I’d love to get your reaction her singing? Thanks guys, Raine 🤍✌️
We’ll check her out! Thanks!
20 seconds is along time “Richard”. That would a great tshirt.
Oh also, if you could take a look at a live performance by Paulo Nutini performing Iron Sky live at Abbey Road studios with an orchestra. Maybe you would like it, I thought it was fantastic and something different 🎶 Thanks again, Raine 🤍✌️🏴
Yes! I actually have Paolo on our list to get to at some point. Thanks!
@@Greatmeasures Excellent, I,look forward to watching it with yourself Richard and Judson 😊 🤍✌️🏴
Very great breakdown, Slipknot is one of my favorites, and this song is very different from the rest of their stuff, if I were to recommend something heavier from them, that (at least in my unprofessional opinion) has some great composition integrity, I'd listen to Solway Firth, I'd love to see a breakdown of that
Thanks for the recommendation! 🤘
vermilion next 😁, maybe Before i forget also .
Im from iowa. Not much to do. Thats why im here watching your reaction to the only band from iowa 😂
would you mind changing the channel intro? have some mercy on us Tinnitus / Hyperacusis sufferers
Yes, we’ll look into that. Apologies
You're about to blow up.... I can tell. Remember I said it😁😁😁
We’ll hold you to it. 😉
I SECOND THAT!!
Yes. I'm glad I'm here for the expansion and explosion
Pro-tip, reqind the song ten seconds to catch the sonic wave again.
"my name is XXX this is YYY" - german saying: Der Esel nennt sich immer zu erst.
He should really check some other type music like The Weeknd “after hours” album or somethin. Ye it would be nice if he would react to a full albums (if he can of course)
Really enjoing and thank you! ❤
We’re going to branch out to other genres. Just trying to figure out which direction to.
How about some old-school guns n roses? I just feeling you guys yesterday and subscribed...liked you both🎤💯🙏✌️
Thank you! He probably knows a good bit of Guns N’ Roses, but maybe you could recommend a deeper cut that he maybe hasn’t heard. 🤘
Check out badflower ghost
Please reaction a The Outlaw Torn Metallica live sinfonica 1999, saludos desde Argentina los sigo siempre👫🇦🇷🇺🇸
Great song
TESTAMENT. There are many…..
Now do Vermilion part 1 :-)
Play Killpop or The Devil in I
By Slipknot
Please react to The Stage by Avenged Sevenfold! Much love from the Bay Area.
Please show this man some Evergrey
Great song, but richard you should say judson, that this song was the only ballad, really soft song of slipknot. imo verllion pt.2 too, but then it's almost heavieness. My fav. song, wich is a powerballad like snuff, is vermillion. It'would me make happy, if you react to this. \m/
We’ll do it soon. Thanks!
make him listen to Bother and Through glass by Stone Sour
Both vermillion parts would be great, see if you can connect the dots the story tells.
Randy Rhondes was a classical trained guitarist. Might give yall something to analyze. Dee is his instrumentatal but anything on Ozzy's first album is good.
I love Edge of Sanity, especially "Unorthodox"! Such an underrated album.
Key: F#m
Am, E(m), F, (C) Verse.
G Am x3 G F Chorus.
Few other bits but thats the majority of the song.
Thanks! 🤘
Can yall set up another channel with piano covers, please
We’re working on making this happen.
you should listen to yen, its another different style song for slipknot
You should react to Sanitarium by Metallica
You shoulda showed him the video lol
Should have watched the video
You guys really need to see the actual video... Completely changes the song for you.
Love your channel but I have to inform you that what you are thinking of is chaw, chewing tobacco. Snuff is powdered tobacco leaves that are meant to be inhaled. It’s not very popular anymore probably because of the cancer and all that. Love the channel.
Could y’all react to some Avenged Sevenfold in the future? Love the videos so far!
Yes! Coming soon!
Protect ya neck.
😂😂
Please sir may I have some more ?
🤘
Have you heard other Slipknot songs? How much do you know about modern music?
I don’t know the full answer to this, but I will find out. I know he’s a fan of Phish, The Grateful Dead, bands like that. He’s also a fan of grunge and 90’s alternative bands. He referenced Smashing Pumpkins in the South of Heaven video and he’s been in a few bands that would do covers from time to time. I think I remember him telling me they did a show one time where they covered an entire Radiohead album. I could be wrong about that though. As far as Slipknot goes, I think the extent of his knowledge is “the band that wears masks and screams”. Highly doubt he’s ever heard one of their songs. Definitely not voluntarily if he has. 😂 I’ll ask him. He knows a lot of band names, but there’s not much metal that he’s actually listened to.
The song is about his ex, but the bass player paul grey helped him write it, and he passed away before this album came out. So it has a dual meaning to Corey.
Creapy guys slipknot yes, and so are Dimmu Borgir. Not many react chanels are reacting to them, or Children of bodom. I think Celine will love them both
😂 Celine is very open minded
Why did the light just turn off around 14:03? 👻
Technical difficulties… or the house is haunted. 👀
Protect your neck!
Sad song.
I thought we were friends 😂
REN!! more REN!!!
the tale of jenny and screech (FULL)
Thank you for not doing the live version! I love live music, but you can't beat the original here.
That’s exactly why I went with this one. Thank you for confirming that I made the right choice. 🤘
Ok so y’all buddies, Co workers, band mates or in-laws?
Good friends. Met a little over four years ago and bonded over music
Is that place haunted
Just saying there's also Snuff as in snuffing a candle.
Pick one
The song is about taking your life. They had a band member that was in the band that took his own life.
Incorrect.
check out system of a down...u have 2
Yes yes and yes.. one of the best shows I experienced
I feel romantic energy between these 2, am I trippen?
The is about a abuseive 10 year relationship with his ex wife its distoryed him he wrote the song as a catharsis to deal with the traum
stop doing drugs
Who hurt you?
