'Ohne Dich' is my favourite Rammstein song, the video is a real tear jerker. Just make sure to read the English lyrics too as it really enhances the song.
@@Greatmeasures I do kinda feel like you'd have to have watched at least a few of the other music videos they've done prior to that, just so you get a bit more understanding of what's going on in the Ohne Dich video; they reference them a lot throughout. The quality of Rammstein videos is on a completely different level and then Til’s voice is undeniable! My wife doesn’t like metal, but she can’t take her eyes off these videos. I saw them live in 2010 or something when they first came back to NA and there will never be a live show that compares.
I've been going to concerts since the beginning of 2001 and in my personal experience nothing comes close to a Rammstein show, and this by all means is no criticism of the shows I'm comparing them to, they're just that good! Rammstein 'Ohne Dich'. Serious song, no heart eating. Beautiful melody.. sad video. Hopefully he'll have something to say about the chord progressions 👍
I love your guys dynamic. And the fact you always try to work out the composition of the song as well as trying to understand the meaning. Fan-freaking-tastic... then as I'm writing this you discuss seeing colors from different chords... I have a mild form of synesthesia from time to time and it makes music so much more beautiful
Hearing Judson talk about color association with different notes or chords, that is a thing called synesthesia. I would highly recommend visiting some Devin Townsend, as he also has synesthesia and sees shapes and colors with music and how it all fits together. For some suggestions, Higher or Deep Peace( both live at Plovdiv), Grace (from the Retinal Circus), or honestly the entire Ziltoid Live at the Royal Albert Hall concert :) The thing with Devin is he has done it all, and a big deep dive into his works is something I think Judson could really connect with a lot of.
Mutter, the title track. Read the lyrics translated, the clip is great, though I dislike that they shorten it. Just like in this one they cut out the small guitar 'solo' during the break, but it really heightens the buildup. But yeah, 100%, go for the song Mutter (Mother), imo. Seeman is a pretty song from their debut (exceptionally big part for the bass player), whereas as people mentioned, Ohne Dich is a nice Ballad from their later work. If you want a trajectory particularly in Till's singing and more melodic stuff of theirs. Huge Bonus tip for any fan: Meshuggah's "cover" of Benzin (requested by Rammstein for their Benzin single). Meshuggah wrote a completely new song and put Till's original lyrics over it. So yes folks, there's a Meshuggah Song with Till's German vocals. It's amazing.
I didn't think you lads would review Rammstein, but I'm totally glad you did. These guys sit in my top 5 all time favourite bands and I agree with Judson, I like the original 'Mein Hertz Brennt' too.
these 2 songs are great. The original one, for me anyways, is more akin a catharsis or an overcoming of/from trauma or a massive struggle. The piano version on the other hand I interpret more as a telling of a monster that has no choice but to be one, yet has no desire to and struggles with its destiny (which seems to fit the, presumably, secondary reference the song makes to a dark story by ETA Hoffmann from the 19th century, also called the Sandmann) and what you tried to get at near the end there - yes, we Germans love our compound words :D (when you have Legos [words], why not use them ;) )
Mega fan here (Rammstein and Great Measures). A few recommendations for the channel: Spiel Mit Mir Angst (video) Adieu (video) Sonne (a live version preferably) Ohne Dich Mein Teil (also live) Deutschland (Video) They have some bangers!
"The Office" reference, now I like you even more 😁😂. There are so many good songs to listen to by Rammstein "Deutschland" is an amazing song with incredibly good video, "Du Hast" Live In Paris is a must if you ask me, "Sonne" is also a classic and "Ohne Dich" is just beautiful and emotional, you cant`t go wrong with any of them.
It annoys me when people do the piano version as their first reaction, so props for doing both. I like the piano version but I feel that the original album version should be checked out first, I just love those strings which make the song what it is imo - and it's far better imo.
It reminds me about "Ich hasse kinder" (I hate children) by Lindemann (Till's solo project, produced by dud from band "Pain"), I recommend you to check it out.
I always find myself really enjoying your analysis of each piece as someone who's not coming from a classical music background... especially for a group like Rammstein! Would you please react to any of Buck-Tick's discography? Atsushi Sakurai, their lead singer, has recently passed away and I would love to see a tribute reaction in his memory if you were up to it. He was a legend in the Japanese rock/vkei scene, and I think you'll find their music really interesting. Their drummer and their bassist are brothers. They've been around as a band since 1983, I think? so they've quite a large amount of music out there. Particularly, if you were going to react to any specific songs, my recommendations are Kuchizuke, die, Taiyou ni Korosareta, and Coyote. There are many live performances available on UA-cam, and I find that those have much more life to them than their studio tracks. Atsushi and Imai also had an awesome side project called Schwein with Raymond Watts (PIG) and Sascha from KMFDM you might want to check out. Cheers!!
So happy to see you react to some Rammstein! Yes, please please do react to the song Deutschland, and the official music video. I noticed how jutson (sorry if my spelling is trash) referenced d minor as well as a minor as being red. Do you have synesthesia where you visualize notes as colors? Just curious, but love your content.
that is cool, never made the connection. i wonder if the prevalence of synesthesia is higher among artists. I know quite a few people who think in "colors" for their work, i.e. their music, which they then translate also in the colors for the album for example. I dont know if that is just a stylistic choice or if they also see their music in those colors. Examples would include, but not limited to bands like Blood Incantation, Morbid Angel, Obscura and The Ruins Of Beverast in metal. they all have a color scheme going on, the albums tend to be different in terms of concept and or also musical development and so on...
Would be interested to see you guys take a look at something by Wolves at the Gate. "A Voice in the Violence" or "Eulogies" would be a great blace to start
Funny fact the First Video was never ready....First came a a spanish regiseur....make many cool Pictures...but incompatibel fir Videos. Later itcame a German filmworker known by Rammstein, and rescued the Film Project. For me the Second Video ist the best....all bad feeling transport per voice from Till and Piano.
Okeeee, i expected so much from an artist and classic expert but then...nothing.😅 It was like waiting for santa claus to come but he doesn't. I was waiting to hear something about the piano or the violins...where the hell was the reaction and the analyses. Don't get me wrong, the artist seems nice, but also like a real artist haha. He seemed to be somewhere missing and drunk or high when you asked him about the song. 😅
Mein Hertz Brent is more or less a stylized version of the Boogie Man story. The German story is about a black elf that eats mean children and steals sad children's tears.
Wow, Judsong knows Franz Kafka. Why doesn't this surprise me at all?!? ;-) We had to read his works at school in Germany. It wasn't my taste...but Rammstein even more so!!! Keep up your great work Richard and Judsong. P.S. You know, that the city Ramstein in Germany has the largest US Airport outside the US ? ;-)
@@judsongIt´s the Ramstein Air Base - 8500 US Soldiers are based there and living with their family in the regoin around. You need a guide for your Germany-trip ? Let me know ;-)
The hard rolling "R" is normally not used in german(of course differs in region, like people from siegerland that have that accent. Thats why we call them the texans from germany. Normal germans speak highgerman that is most familiar to northern german accent. Teached in school all in germany). Many mistake it for a Hitler accent imitation, but it was used in old Theater as a style element. Even Hitler used it as a style element, because the harder pronouncation draws more attention and sounds powerful.
It also draws inspiration from the opera "The Sandman" (2017), which was based off of E.T.A. Hoffman's (The Nutcracker author) short story of the same name published in 1816. "Deutschland" is an epic song and video.
@@fineflavour4493 Right, the original version came out in 2001 while the re-release on the album "Mutter" (mother) came out in 2012. Though the story may be based on the short story of Hoffman which came out in 1816 :)
In the Desert By Stephen Crane In the desert I saw a creature, naked, bestial, Who, squatting upon the ground, Held his heart in his hands, And ate of it. I said, “Is it good, friend?” “It is bitter-bitter,” he answered; “But I like it “Because it is bitter, “And because it is my heart.”
Hahaha, Judson obviously liked it musically, but couldn't understand the lyrics, and was completely unprepared for the video's intense visuals.. it's funny seeing him kinda groovin to the music while sporting a look that ran the gamut of either utter disgust, shock, and just generally being uncomfortable depending on what was being shown at the time lol.. I felt the same way myself! 🤘👍🖖
Why are your voices in false direction? Richards voice is on the right side and Judgesons on the left side....very weird oO BUT I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! Greetings
Aaargh! Du Hast does not mean you hate. It means you have. Just listen to the rest of that lyric. Du haßt would be you hate. Double s. Also it's Rammstein (so sht on the st) not Ramms Tein.
Ok. This is the fourth time this reaction channel has come up on my YT feed, and I just gotta ask this, sorry if it comes across as an a-hole comment: “does the classical musician actually play classical music seriously?”. Really, cause all the intro vids i’ve seen so far is what i’d play lazily after a few beers, and i am not a piano player at all, but self-taught, just for the hell of it

I think he will appreciate the live session of Global Warming by Gojira
Would be interested to see you guys take a look at something by Wolves at the Gate. "A Voice in the Violence" or "Eulogies" would be a great blace to start
Funny fact the First Video was never ready....First came a a spanish regiseur....make many cool Pictures...but incompatibel fir Videos. Later itcame a German filmworker known by Rammstein, and rescued the Film Project.
For me the Second Video ist the best....all bad feeling transport per voice from Till and Piano.
I also like the Original song more than the piano version
'Mutter'... the irony.
Please react to: Rammstein - Deutschland. Pffical music video. The ending credits, the piano is amazing. You will love it!
Mein Hertz Brent is more or less a stylized version of the Boogie Man story. The German story is about a black elf that eats mean children and steals sad children's tears.
Wow, Judsong knows Franz Kafka. Why doesn't this surprise me at all?!? ;-)
We had to read his works at school in Germany. It wasn't my taste...but Rammstein even more so!!!
Keep up your great work Richard and Judsong.
P.S. You know, that the city Ramstein in Germany has the largest US Airport outside the US ? ;-)
Did not know that about the airport. I gotta go Germany
Have you done the Apocalyptica cover of the Rammstein song Seemann?
"The German language sounds so cool". That was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
Have I mentioned a band named savatage would be cool to hear what you both have to say about them
dream theater - dance of eternity

Would be awesome if you could react to Zeit.
It also draws inspiration from the opera "The Sandman" (2017), which was based off of E.T.A. Hoffman's (The Nutcracker author) short story of the same name published in 1816. "Deutschland" is an epic song and video.
if that opera is from 2017, the song can't be inspired by it.
@@fineflavour4493 Right, the original version came out in 2001 while the re-release on the album "Mutter" (mother) came out in 2012. Though the story may be based on the short story of Hoffman which came out in 1816 :)
@@fineflavour4493 Yeah I realized I had stated the wrong opera after I went to bed.
In the Desert
By Stephen Crane
In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, “Is it good, friend?”
“It is bitter-bitter,” he answered;
“But I like it
“Because it is bitter,
“And because it is my heart.”
Thats awesome and make led zeppelin - Kashmir or any led zeppelin song
in te 2nd take till is channeling heath ledgers' joker

1:42 I am a Rammstein enthusiast and Judson is correct, Du Hast is from the late 90's.
19:12 Not "|BRENNT-SSSSS" it's BrennTTTTT, you said it correctly at the beginning of the video.
Why are your voices in false direction? Richards voice is on the right side and Judgesons on the left side....very weird oO BUT I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! Greetings
I’m waiting for the third Rust In Peace song!…😅
Iced earth - dantes inferno 😢
Du hast means you have- not you hate😊you hate would have another s in the word- hasst - Hass ,hate..
I just wanted to warn you about the rabbit hole. Some people have beat me to it, so definitely "Ohne Dich" if you want to cry. Do it! I dare you!
It’s nice song, but best rammstein songs in the early albums.
Fuck! Without solo!!!
react to Avenged sevenfold's Life's but a dream... pls
React to Slipknot- Vermillion Pt.2
D minor is the saddest key of all - Nigel Tufnel
My favourite Rammstein song is actually "Deutschland" which is the german pronunciation of germany. Im actually a german myself.
Hello from Mississippi, USA. 🤘
Really, cause all the intro vids i’ve seen so far is what i’d play lazily after a few beers, and i am not a piano player at all, but self-taught, just for the hell of it
Please, please do Perpetual Burn by Jason Becker it's a masterpiece. You already listened to Altitudes and Air. Please, please, please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
