Wow. I mean fucking wow. That shit is badass bro! I'm a beginner lap slide player. I will be practicing my ass off after hearing those awesome licks. I've played "regular" guitar for 25 years so the transition to lap slide is challenging. Thanks for the video man!
Thank you! Practicing your ass off is the right way to get good at anything. Try a couple of different tunings to find one that fits you and make sure you get a good bar.
Today is my birthday and I am 64... my gift is a Lapsteel...from my mother and mother in law...my slideguitar is in open E and the Lapsteel is in open D...strings are 18/60! I need „input“ and love this sound...thank you and greetings from Düsseldorf 🙈🎸💥🤘🎶😎
@@Tone.Corner Well, happy birthday! Open E and open D of course are the same tuning but a whole tone apart so you can translate whatever knowledge you have from your guitar to your lap steel. If you want to you could also change the tuning on you lap steel to open E if you prefer that. I use open D on my Gibson lap steel - which you can see and hear in my most recent videos - and the strings are 13-20-24w-34-48-62. The scale length of your lap steel will of course influence what gauges are preferable. There are many good videos on UA-cam where can learn lap steel, I have stolen quite a few things from them.
Dickerson was the forerunner to magnatone amplifiers, and occasional guitars.... they're less common and not as well known as supro lap steels, but this one sounds real good in your amp and pedal rig.
Are you kidding me? Under 1000 views? I will make it my mission to spread the word. Considering how much crap there is on here from so called pro musicians it astounds me that REAL talent like this is missed. Well done my friend, keep on wailin' the blues.
I don't really know what pickup it has because it is literally built in to the instrument, you can't see it at all. It's under the pearloid. But I like the way it sounds, loud and raw.
As it says in the video description it's a Dickerson Student. If I remember correctly Dickerson is the same as Magnatone. You can probably find these for around 300-400 USD.
Thanks for watching! Make sure to subscribe if you like what you see, I publish new videos every week!
Best use of lap steel I've ever heard
Thanks!
Awesome! The right tones are played in the right place. Good groove and a lot of expression
Thank you!
Love the way you think when playing, sounds like you got a right to play the blues, aw huh. Carry on regardless, Mr. Brink.
Thank you Martin, I've just bought an old Gibson lap steel that I am restoring a bit to get it playable.
@@AndreasBrink can’t wait for the unveiling

From what I can see, I have that lap steel under another name. What a kick in the arse.
Yeah, Magnatone is the most common name for these.
@@AndreasBrink I've had it for almost 40years and never seen another like it - until now.
Once again, mad skills there bro. So much feel
Thank you, I appreciate it!

Andreas Brink I would love to see another video in which you play this lap steel. I also liked the video editing and painting exhibited
Andreas Brink I thought it was all so psychedelic :)

Really dig the pearloid body on that bad boy.
What pick up is in it?

please tell me what kind of guitar this is. is it a regal? how much does one cost like this? I'm really loving the sounds it can make.
