Couldnt be more true. Its 3.30 am, i have work tomorrow at 9 and here im listening to slide guitar blues And goddamn im enjoying every 2 minutes and 16 seconds of it
i have sick sinus syndrome tachy brady of the heart with a pacemaker. I only get one good heartbeat out of a bunch at any given moment. Was still tapping my foot though. AWESOME stuff.
you can’t exactly teach the blues. There’s the basis of the blues, but then the rest, well you’re on you’re own for that. it’s gotta come from the soul
Actually, 7 dollars in 1930 is about ~115 dollars today. Per the 1927 Sears catalog, that would get you an all-birch instrument, though a nicer one, with a dollar or two left over for songbooks, extra strings, what have you. A spruce-topped instrument was about ten dollars, for the price you could also get a "mahogany" guitar, which might mean all-hog or back and sides with a spruce top - it's hard to be sure; or a "Bradley Kinkaid" spruce & hog model. - A nicer spruce-topped hog back and sides model was around $15, with a mother-of-toilet seat fret-board model of unknown construction (probably all birch or perhaps all mahogany) coming in at only 13. A National Triolian was a princely sum of $46, or 50 with a payment plan. The 1936 catalog lists several models; none of which the same as those nine years prior. The cheapest, a $4.25 flat-top with F-holes, probably birch; and a choice of a "Lone Ranger" or 'Palm Beach" model (the same guitar, it seems, with different stenciling on the finish) for fifty cents more; a Mahogany model for $10; and the "Four Star Jubilee Special" - a round-hole arch top at only $4.85, usually ten dollars, and "worth $12 anywhere"! Interestingly, the Lone Ranger model is also in the 1940 catalog for a dollar (more or less) more, now with "Gene Autry" in rope script on the upper right section of the lower bout. Interestingly, a spruce-topped parlor or single 0 size with whitewood (poplar, birch, basswood, etc.) back and sides is around $170 today or thereabouts (Recording King Dirty 37 Single 0); roughly in line with the Sears prices, though I can't quite find the right model to compare it to.
All I can think is that guitar sat somewhere not being used waiting for this guy to come wake it up but it ended up waking 2.7 million people up. Nice playing. You the man!
Man great job sounds sweet old parlor with slide unbeatable sounds , just picked an old 1900s parlor at the shop getting it repaired looking forward to hearing the slide really cool.
Makes you wonder, what stories that hunk of wood might be able to tell ?. ... Oooh thers a a song in there somewhere. But back to the point, yet another excellent piece. :-)
It probably lay on an attick for 90 years collecting dust after the first owner got bored after one month of trying to learn to play the gitar. At least thats how it is with my instrumental collection.
@@roundprairiedairy7006 i mean you can say that or you can realize that people in the 30s had a lot fewer options for entertainment so if they bought a guitar they had a lot more time to learn it most likely.

I'm pretty sure you are a happy man when you play with this one...
Emmanuel BelArt Yes, this guitar is a joy to play.

This guitar was probably like 7 dollars in a sears catalog back in the 30s
you could get 3 steer for that 7 dollar and we aint got no time fo guitar bwoah
7 dollars back then would of been now like 400 dollars or something
That is an old Swedish Levin Parlor guitar from the fifties (I guess)...
