- Eddie Gilbert is back in Memphis to face Jerry Lawler in a title vs title match. Eddie is the GWF(Global wrestling Federation) champion at the time. He was the main booker at the time and a lot of GWF talent was wrestling in Memphis(Billy Joe Travis, Bull Pain, Samantha, Danny Davis).
Jerry Lawler did a great job spinning that story about World Champions.
How can you not like hot stuff eddie gilbert and the king jerry lawler
I'm over 18 so that's why on Jerry Lawler
I remember this, great stuff. This was before Lawler totally sold out and became a complete cartoon.
Dont cry
that's a great point he became a WWE cartoon character
What episode was this interview done on?
I want to watch the whole show...
Two fire throwers.
In this case, many people may have looked at Jerry "The King" Lawler as the Good Guy, and looked at "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert as the Bad Guy. However, look at who it is, that instigates this argument. Why, it's the most protected, and pampered, Man that ever Wrestled in the USWA, and that Promoters catered to, to keep him on their Roster, being that he was such a big draw:Why, it's Jerry "The King" Lawler! He's the one that started this whole mess, talkin' about how Eddie Gilbert was strutting around, with a Crown and all, and proclaiming himself as the new "King". However, Eddie Gilbert countered with an excellent point:New Kings are Crowned all the time. He's right, too.
I'm siding with Eddie Gilbert on this one!
I agree--I was always on "Team Gilbert" all the way. Lawler was an arrogant buffoon.
Battle of the mullets!
I was glad to see USWA outlast the AWA as a "top 3" wrestling league. They may have been an AWA "territory" at one time, but they always had far more exciting wrestlers than what the "parent" company offered
the king talked for a generation how he hated wwe. that it was a cartoon federation
Eddie gilbert was the greatest heel in memphis wrestling after his death, memphis wrestling started to die! I met billy travis at a wrestling event in my home town once cool dude he was! He died at a releativly young age just like eddie gilbert did. Its something how jerry lawler used to talk negative about the wwf then in later years became a big represenative of the wwf!
Jerry "The KIng" Lawler & "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert (R.I.P.) 2 of the greats.
Lawler's still alive..
@@kevinday4999 ......
You're misunderstanding what Lane wrote.
Lane is saying that both Lawler & Gilbert are two of the greats,
which they were ....... But Lane put R.I.P. after Gilbert, acknowledging his unfortunate death.
Lane was not implying that Lawler had passed away too.
Bobby Shane was the 1st King not Lawler!!
When Lawler won the AWA champion Macho Man was WWF champion, not Hogan.
That’s not the global belt or the unified belt…::
Lawler forgot to mention how Kerry should have been the winner but got screwed!
Well, he was back in "friendly" territory here, so he had to play the so-called "good guy" again
Damn Jerry..let Gilbert talk
Lawler and Dundee both had that problem, just walking all over people's promo time
😂😂😂😂😂
Gilbert fired from wcw before this
How did Gilbert ever be any kind of a champion? What was he 5-10 and 195 pounds, with small hands?
I always had serious doubts about his 220 pound billing. That was highly exaggerated! I saw him walk by me on his way to the ring once, and I thought he looked small! He should have been competing with cruiserweights!
Well said Tully Blanchard wasn't much bigger
Idol is a weasel for sure
Global sucked, USWA was way better
Global sucked because double J owned it and whatever double J touches turns to mud
@@matthewshepard695 I liked USWA in Texas at the Old Sportatorium when it was on ESPN everyday at 4pm during the week, never seen the Memphis shows back then because it was only local on TV in Memphis, Tennessee back then, when USWA ended the contract for having their shows in Dallas at the Sportatorium in 1991, Global came in and started having their shows on ESPN, it wasn't the same, Global was lame and boring, now I just can't stand watching wrestling at all, haven't been a fan of it since 2000
