- Years ago Doug Gilbert shocked the wrestling world with his infamous shoot interview on Jerry the King Lawler. It was at a Power Pro Wrestling Live TV Taping - the company would close it's doors shortly after Gilbert's controversial shoot promo. I always thought that Doug Gilbert was a good hand to have on any roster. His father and brother were also very good talents. Not top guys, but the workhorses that an old school wrestling promotion couldn't do without. RIP Hot Stuff and I wish the Gilbert family all the best.

Actually, PPW lasted for almost two more years and it didn't end due to this promo. It ended due to the WWF taking the development deal a second time after the close of WCW in April of 2001 among other factors. This took place in 1999.
Wow his demeanor is the LAST thing I expected him to act like. Totally surprised me. I guess like he said he was just young and amped up at a bad time during that Power Pro interview with Tommy Rich. I laughed my balls off the first time I saw that video. I wanted to be in his stable.

I was talking to Randy Hales about this on his UA-cam show .Him and Doug are still good friends and they put this behind them and wont discuss this issue .

Doug lost me there at the end. Jerry was smart and intelligent for still wrestling at his age? The King hadn't wrestled in years before this was filmed. He technically died after his last WWE match in 2012.
The King as been wrestling consistently on the indys during his entire WWE run though.
He meant that Lawler is silk relevant out of everybody his age. Which is true.
Lawler is still Wrestling at 68 yrs old here 2018 plus 70+ years ole Dundee still goes as well.
