It is a pretty cool place for sure. I remember hiking it for the first time in 1998 there was much more steam coming from the crater floor than today. I never been at the crater floor at night though. That must have been pretty cool as you would not be able to see any other lights except for starlight!

We hiked in there late one afternoon. We were photographing the Milky Way. We hiked out about 2 am. Incredible in the dark.

It certainly is :) It is amazing how it was once a hot molten mass and then trees are now growing on it.
