    The greatest thing I love about Hawaii is that even though it’s broken up into many islands you can never say “see one, you’ve seen em all”. They each have their own character and climate. I absolutely love the place and pray I can retire there one day.

    I would add the Tropical Botanical Gardens north of Hilo to this list. It was one of my favorite places I visited on the Big Island. And stay at The Volcano House, great way to see the eruption at night.

      I know this is a yr later but just back a from a week at BI. Used this channel a lot for research before trip!
      Added 22 birds to my list. Was a great time but wanted to share something only birders will appreciate!
      Went to botanical garden with family and was super excited about to see a bunch of birds. It was late in day so kind of overcast. The ONLY bird I could positively ID was a northern cardinal (womp womp) lol. Everything else was too far away for my binoculars or my skill level ;). Did end up seeing a Hawaiian creeper in parking lot while fam was in gift shop!

    We don't fully understand just how intelligent octopus really are. They are well known to do problem solving, like how to get out of complex enclosures and they have extensive memory and recognition skills. They are a truly fascinating creature and we have so much more to learn about them.

      we can say that about a lot of animals but yes, octopuses show a lot of intelligence. You can pick up on it at the research center/Octopus farm tour.

    Last time I was there, I went to the seahorse farm. The only one in the entire world. They ship mature seahorses all the world for aquariums. They only let so many people experience this. You get to see them in every stage of their lives, in their cold water, pristine tanks. With an adult seahorse in a tank, you put you finger in, and the seahorse swims over and actually CURLS around your finger, so gently. An experience of a lifetime!!!

    I’ve done that night dive with the mantas, and it is ONE of the best experiences of my lifetime. They are busy feeding on plankton. There mouths open to 12 foot wide, come at you & you think you are going to be swelled up. At the last minute, they know you are ther, and lightly brush by you. It’s surreal.

    Very nice!! When leaving Akaka falls, don’t forget to stop at the fruit stand for a coconut of fresh water and some fresh fruit and then at the baby goat farm for a snuggle!!! Also in Volcano the winery is a hidden gem! Do a tasting and then grab a glass or a bottle and some local cheese and crackers and sit outside among the grape vines while enjoying! For a good sampling of local food, stop at Tex! Don’t forget Green Sand Beach. It’s a must see!

    • @derbagger22
      @derbagger22 2 роки тому +1

      oOoOO, some things for me to check out! However, green sands beach is such a hike. And the local trucks that bring you back and forth is incredibly sketch and they treat those that want to take their own Jeeps and trucks like trash. Maybe why they didn't mention it....

      I'm not aware of scuba restriction sites around Hawaii. There are a lot of amazing dive spots around all the islands. I dived frequently when when lived on Oahu. We are both certified divers but more challenging to go with the kids. We will make it a priority soon to showcase Hawaii dive companies and spots.

      We went with Manta Ray Advocates which was one of the tours recommended by this channel(I think). This was not a tour out in a boat with a huge lit platform, we simply swam from the resort beach into a cove not even 100 yards and the experience was INCREDIBLE. And, yes, they supplied life vests.

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  2 роки тому +1

      @derbagger22 is correct, Erica was going out with Manta Ray Advocates which is departing from the beach. I went out with Sea Paradise. A life vest was available and they recommend floaties so snorkelers don't kick or touch the manta rays on accident. Touching them is bad for the manta.

      Is always unsure and nervous and almost ALWAYS leaves saying it was the best thing they’ve ever done!! I’ve been on small tours and larger ones. Both have pros and cons but I’ve liked them all and I prefer when they head to the airport area with the underwater campfire!

    Jordan & Erica, yes there is so much to cover to value & appreciate visiting each of the islands. While watching Ii did not hear or see you promote as GUEST(S) to the island(s) I did not hear anything about being respectful to the the island resident by how you talk, don't assume to change the islands culture this is not the mainland, if not sure ask question respectfully. Read & research the Hawaiian history behind the places visiting. Respect nature not leave your(opala-trash), watch where you walk on the lava rock(it may look solid) many areas could be lava tubes underneath. native plants, where you park. Please in future videos share these ideas not just visiting Hawaii but other vacation spots you are promoting
