We spent a few hours at the Brown Mountain Lookout near Morganton, North Carolina on 25 Jan 2025 to investigate the geological/atmospheric phenomena of the Brown Mountain Lights. Most light sightings were due to planes, car lights, refraction, night campers however we did capture some anomalous light phenomena which can not be explained. I am a strong skeptic but what I saw blew my mind. The lights could be attributed to the piezoelectric effect of fault movements. The Brevard Fault is less than 2 miles (3km) away. Also checked out damage done by Hurricane Helene.
