I like how the writers incorporated some of the real Anastasia's personality into the character. The real Anastasia was pretty mischievous and sassy. She usually didn't care much for royal gatherings as they rarely had anyone interesting to talk to, even people her own age. She also hated having servants dress her up for big events and didn't care much either for fancy dresses. The palace was pretty much the only place where she was allowed to be free-spirited and spent much of her free time pulling pranks on the palace staff, hiding in cupboards when her parents or tutors were looking for her and throwing snowballs at her sisters but as she got older she matured out of her mischievous nature and started writing satires and jokes in her free time, though she continued to be sassy and smart-mouthed. This made her Alexei's favourite sister, since she was sometimes able to ease his suffering by making him laugh. And as Alexei got older, he and Anastasia became very close even though he was considerably calmer and more respectful of authority than her. Honestly, the fact that someone so full of life was murdered stings my heart. The Romanovs were such a loving family.
I was a kid when I saw this and in middle school I learned all about the Romanov family and it BROKE MY HEART. To this day I still have a soft spot for them, history is so cruel. This movie threw me down a rabbithole of Russian history as a child. I was personally offended that they had been murdered so cruelly

I think she definitely remembers something, considering her sisters and father are there, and we even get a glimpse of Alexei. But I'm not sure - there's a couple of women behind Alexei, but no clue if either of them is Alix (that was her nickname, like how her husband was Nicky). Also, fun fact, I read somewhere that Maria, the sister closest in age to Anastasia, showed some mild symptoms of haemophilia, just like her little brother. Her blood clotted, but not as efficiently as it should have.
I'll never forget this song I remember watching this cartoon movie Anastasia with my little sister's on a cold winter night warm in our house by the fireplace back in 1997

Czar Nicholas was a terrible czar but a good man and father. He was given a crap hand when he came into power, and because his father did not do anything to teach him how to rule he did the best he could. It wasn't enough. Russia was centuries behind in many things and the people kinda just had enough. It didn't help that he made stupid terrible short sighted decisions that because he had absolute authority, he had no one to blame but himself.
I was 7 when this was in the movie theaters was awesome because I loved the animation. I used to have the Anastasia doll from the movie but I had to give it to my cousin because I couldn’t keep my toys picked up off the floor.
If your friends grandma didn't watch this with you while you were being baby sat as she trashed talked Rasputin in the background, you had no kind of childhood lol
During the family being assassinated, it's often said that Anastasia sat up after being shot because the children had the family's jewels sown into their clothes. This song hurts with the animation because people often forget that her father really didn't have an interest in being the Tsar and was more family focused. The royal family didn't have to die, innocent children were murdered. Even now, researchers aren't sure if the female skeleton found belongs to Anastasia or her sister Maria.
@@zilsm I know I was just letting them know their is a musical if they were interested. I'm personally fine without the film because there's things you can do with animation you can't with traditional film. Though it could be cool
