    Mr. Gunther is well spoken and loved that he stood his ground with a not so nice inspector! He deserves far better treatment in my opinion.

  • @scootertrash911
    @scootertrash911 Рік тому +2

    When I was a little boy my uncle made this syrup out in the yard in Mt Olive, Jefferson County, Alabama. He would cook the juice very dark almost burned to make a great dark syrup for biscuits and other treats. The time was 1958 or so. Uncle Troy , the syrup maker was a member of the greatest generation, that fought in and won WWII and Uncle helped the Big Red One Army run General Rommel out of the mountains of Northern Africa. This video brought back precious childhood memories. Thanks

    Ah yes. Sorghum and Peanut Butter Sandwiches, what I was raised on back in the 40s. It used to come in 5 gallon cans. The Neighborhood kids used to raid mine!
    No wonder after hearing about the inspector I am unable to find Sorghum any longer in the Stores! The Inspectors put people out of Business with required replacements! Has anyone heard of anyone dying from Poisons from Jars of Sorghum? I hate it when Local Government puts people out of business with Horses Rump inspections,

    My husband and I happened upon your video and channel. Never heard of the Guenther Farm but would love to visit. Really enjoyed listening and watching Mr. Guenther. He is a WORKING MAN and they don’t make many like him anymore. My son and I try to “help” our Sunday School teacher every November when he makes cane syrup. I’ve shared this video with him because he will be able to relate to this process. I hope you will update us on Mr. Guenther’s inspection. Praying that it will go well and a new and productive relationship will be made with this new inspector. Also hope you will go back and video more of their syrup making for all of us to see. Thanks!

    I remember being at our neighbors sorghum making in Va. He had the big pans outside in the field with fires built beneath etc. etc. This was back in the mid 40’s and early 50’s. All the farmers/families came to watch and this went on for days. Happy memories. So sorry this dear gentleman had to suffer the know it all bully. Thank goodness the older man is rectifying his arrogance etc., and that he will learn from the lesson Mark is trying to teach him.🎉

    Hoosier cabinets were made in Indiana,thus the name,first appeared in 1898 by a furniture company called Sellers,great pieces of furniture,back before built in cabinetry. My Mom bought one in the sixties and it had bins on each side on the top that held flour and cornmeal the flour side had a built in sifter. You have to be a real old fashioned cook and Baker to truly appreciate a Hoosier!👍

    I have friends in Frogeye, Alabama two hours south of Birmingham, that makes sugar cane, and Songahm Syrup, the way they did it 100 200 years ago.
