I happened on your site and really enjoyed the video. Watching the both of you eat breakfast has made me real hungry for breakfast tomorrow morning. I have been to Muddy Pond on several occasions. The last time was two years ago. My wife and I stopped at a store where they served sandwiches. We had a chicken sandwich that was probably the best ever. We complimented the staff. My wife and I moved from TN about 20 years ago. We own some property just outside the Big South Fork. I am sure you are familiar with. I do like the sorghum from there. I do have a question, what was it that you were eating that you put sorghum on? I lived in the south a long time, but not familiar with that. Also, really like your mules. I have looked at buying a mule, but gave up after seeing what people are asking for them. Thanks, keep it going forward.

Great educational video. I grew up on a farm and learned to plow with a mule. We had two of them and they were like Mark said, we took care of them before we ate. Good people.
Hi John I watched this video while I had my morning coffee and I found it so relaxing. I truly admire this gentleman's respect and appreciation for his wife. Your youtube channel is one of my favs. I don't comment on every video but I watch them all and I look forward to watching them all.
Mark is one Smart Man. I know a few People who didn't like School and are very successful Businessmen. And have done well for themselves. More importantly Mark knows how to treat people. and is a very interesting guy. Love the Guenther's.
You had me at MULES. As a kid in the 1960's we had a 640 acre tree farm in Western Maryland. My dad got the bright idea to start a side business surrounding his interest in the Civil War. In getting all the paraphernalia together he acquired mules to pull the cannons, limbers, and caissons. They came to live with us. We had a horse or 2 also, but I wasn't interested in them -- but loved the mules. Most were Jacks but we did have 2 Jennys - (one that was meaner than a snake). I'm watching several homesteaders channels who seem to be getting mini-donkeys - if I wasn't so darned old (76) I would have me a mule - though one acre wouldn't be fair. You can bet I'll be watching your channel to get my mule fix.

Loved this video!!!! Thank you for sharing all of this information. I want to share with the young people in my life. Years ago, when I was in 8th grade, I am now 63, so 50 years ago; I had the opportunity to go on a 3-day trip that a wonderful teacher arranged for 45-50 youngsters from Birmingham, Alabama to stay at a 'camp' run by Maryville State Teachers College. We spent a day at Cades Cove, a day hiking in the woods, we went on a night hike complete with spooky stories and some-ores. Over those 3 days we learned to identify trees and plants that are native to the area, did tombstone etchings, visited the cabins found at Cadres Cove, she taught us to play flamingo football, and she introduced the practice of journaling by mandating a quiet hour, to be spent alone preferably outdoors by the creek, in a thicket of pines, in the chapel, anywhere we found peace. She had us to write about our day, our feelings, and the funny things that happened during the day. She told us to share our hearts and assured us that journaling was not for a grade, it was about the experience. I still have my journal and I still journal. As I watched your video, the memories from that trip flooded over me. What a beautiful place it was, what an amazing teacher she was, I am so thankful for experience.
O Sherri I done the same thing when I was 6 yrs old, I got in front of a mirror and tried to learn to buckdance like my Mother did. I got caught and she taught me that day.

Love it with hot biscuits and toast!!! I really enjoyed your channel! I'll binge watch your older videos so I can get caught up😘

Great educational video. I grew up on a farm and learned to plow with a mule. We had two of them and they were like Mark said, we took care of them before we ate. Good people.
Put a big smile on my face to watch this video
I'm seventy now and I know and love the old ways! Thank you for this channel!
Hi John I watched this video while I had my morning coffee and I found it so relaxing. I truly admire this gentleman's respect and appreciation for his wife. Your youtube channel is one of my favs. I don't comment on every video but I watch them all and I look forward to watching them all.
Love these people..👍👍
Mark is one Smart Man. I know a few People who didn't like School and are very successful Businessmen. And have done well for themselves. More importantly Mark knows how to treat people. and is a very interesting guy. Love the Guenther's.
Thank you for your comments. You are so right. Sherry Guenther
Thank you for sharing,
Professor Mark does such a fantastic job of explaining everything this families work ethic is outstanding
Farming Professor is sure is! He knows his job.
Thank you. Sherry & Mark

What wonderful stories and information this couple shared. I don't think I've seen a video with Sherry talking this much. She is a gem sharing their love story and talking about her clogging, blue grass, etc. She is fun !
I would love to see her clogging if she still does it and could share it. (?)
I wonder if they come to the Florida State Fair in Tallahassee, Florida(?) Or another state fair?
Thanks John and Jodi for this one. 👍

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, I still clog. It is very likely that John will get a video of me clogging. We go to the Florida State Fair in Tampa Florida. The dates in 2024 are February 8 -19. Sherry
@@muddypondsorghum7148 Sherry, I live near Tallahassee and the North Florida State Fair is held here the first couple of weeks in November each year. I cannot drive myself due to health reasons and Tampa is 3 to 4 hours south of me. Maybe John will do a follow up video of you clogging sometime. That would be fun to watch. Wishing you and your husband the best. Thanks for responding to my UA-cam comment. ☺️
Awesome video on a day in the life getting yourselves and the mules ready to go to work! Would love to see a video on how you process the sorghum syrup from beginning to end and the mules part in it.
Again, thank you so much and thank you to your wife, taking care of the house and her husband is hard work too!! God bless ya-all

A lot of valuable information from Mark. He is an accomplished individual.
Thank you for your nice comments. Sherry & Mark
It's a fine thing to have someone and animals to care for.
My dad worked on a farm in his youth.the farmer told him to plough a field with a steam tractor.dad said after "rangling" with the tractor a few rows he took the tractor back to the farmer and told him To give him a good team of mules so he could finish the field in half the time!

Hi, I’m also a mule love, love your mules, have you ever been to benson mule days, it’s in NC
What a beautiful place it was, what an amazing teacher she was, I am so thankful for experience.
muddy pond mocha sure has a nice ring to it, would love to try that
Hard working familys.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

O Sherri I done the same thing when I was 6 yrs old, I got in front of a mirror and tried to learn to buckdance like my Mother did. I got caught and she taught me that day.

I just found your channel and subscribed!! I knew I'd love your channel when I saw what great care you take of your beautiful mules! Then getting to visit with you and Sherry while you had breakfast was great! I'm from Kingsport TN; grew up in southwest VA. Sherry, my son (31) used to play bluegrass guitar. I enjoyed hearing how you two met! Do you sell your Sorghum? I'd love to buy some for myself and 3 siblings for Christmas gifts! It's been years since I've had sorghum. Love it with hot biscuits and toast!!! I really enjoyed your channel! I'll binge watch your older videos so I can get caught up😘
