Apparently they did some digitizing with his voice to make him sound less like his age. You could really hear it in Rogue One that his voice was sounding much more older and tired.

I absolutely love this line and the way it is delivered. The subtle rage in Anakin’s voice. One of the worst feelings in the world is to see someone you blame for causing you a great deal of hurt acting confused and innocent about what you had to go through. It's one thing to be remorseless of what you did to someone, but to invalidate all their suffering by not even acknowledging it happened... Man. Anakin must be fuming with fire here.
That’s the dark side of the Jedi Code during the prequel era. On the surface it may seem to give you objectivity but it actually makes you apathetic and to some extents cold.
The fact that you can hear the sheer anger in Vader’s voice when he answers kenobi and it just shows how much Vader truly hates Obiwan. With the performance that was done in this episode I’m definitely excited to see more of Vader in this show

This is literally Obi-Wan's worst nightmare coming true. The look and feel reminds me of Luke in the cave at Dagobah, and that is probably no coincidence. Great (voice) acting. Needless to say, that scene is more heart-breaking than anything in Episode 7-9.
I had that feeling too. Obi-Wan isn't taking his normal 3rd form stance, rather a classic 1st form one. It makes him mirror Luke in the cave and just like Luke, he faces his worst fear. Both times they are represented by Vader, though for different reasons. The change in stance can also serve as a mean to reveal a regression in Obi-Wan's journey, one that he will have to overcome if he is to be able to face Vader. I say that because this is the stance that Obi-Wan used as a Padawan (see in TPM vs Maul). It is crazy how a single stance can mean so much, just like in Rebels. It is not obvious and you have to actually think about it to figure it out and this is why a ton of people will miss it and complain about the fact that the fight wasn't spectacular. It wasn't meant to be.

His death made sense for Kylo's journey - other than Vader he wanted to turn to the Dark Side, and literally needed to cut himself from the light by murdering his father, in some way the ultimate crime. It was almost logical at the time. Its the lack of quality in Ep. 8-9 that makes it heart-breaking in retrospect, for me at least. At the time I didn't even find it that sad. Which is probably sad in itself.

Anakin may have the highest amount of midi chlorions, but he is still human, and humans find it hard to defy who they are. When he saw Obi Wan, he was flooded with memories; Mustafar, Qui-Gon, Padme. All this makes an angry Anakin take over, hence Vader calling Anakin in 1st person
@JB 57551 I think Vader knew Ahsoka was alive in the Clone Wars finale. He knows someone came back to bury the clone troops. He knows they had Ahsoka’s lightsaber, and left it there. And he knows whoever it was, didn’t report back in to the Empire after the crash. The only person who was on the ship who would’ve likely checked all those boxes was Ahsoka herself.
I love how Obi Wan Kenobi (the show) doesn't censor how ruthless Darth Vader actually was. Even though it was very graphic I thought it was a great detail to show him massacring those innocent people just to torment Kenobi, and then proceeds to overwhelm him with his power knowing he's out of practice.
The writers nailed it with this scene. Think about this from Obi-Wan’s POV. For 10 years, he has been ridden with guilt over losing Anakin. The last time he saw him was when he was being burned alive on Mustafar and he left him to die. He figured he was dead. He had numerous nightmares of their duel and suffered from PTSD. Then he gets word Anakin somehow survived. Imagine the feelings you’d have for someone you loved and you wanted to reconnect with them to try to save them but when you finally see them, you are shocked because they’re not what you were expecting. Obi-Wan was expecting to see Anakin, not this dark-robed masked killing machine. This was a rush of shock, terror, PTSD-inducing emotions hitting Obi-Wan all at once. This was the first time we had ever seen Obi-Wan, the great Jedi master at a weak point where he was not just afraid, but very broken. Ewan and Hayden absolutely nailed the acting!
Fuck the hate for this show. This is what I've wanted for years - to literally know that its ANAKIN SKYWALKER under that suit. The more I rewatch 4,5 and 6 after the prequels, the more I can "put" Hayden in the suit in my mind, but this show actually links them. That, and the show isn't breaking canon by having them meet in between Mustafar and ANH, it's finally fixing canon - there's no way ANH is them meeting for the first time after mustafar, you think Vader or Obi Wan would be so calm the first time they meet? Nah.
Yup, plus it'll be another 10 years before they meet again this fitting in with the "I sense something, a presence I've not felt since...... I've been waiting for you Obi-Wan"

This is the stuff I want to see. The true dark side. The other side of the coin. The repercussions of Obi-wan's actions, and the new perspective on it.. So fuggin' good.

For all Disney Star Wars failings…they got everything right plus some with Vader when he has appeared. The final scene with Asoka in Rebels and now here just really brings the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker home.
The way JEJ delivered that was very Anakin/Hayden like. You can tell how much Vader hates Obi Wan, and with how he emphisizes the "You" is outright blaming him (and letting him know) for what he is now.

The main complaint I had with the story line is this supposedly takes place 10 years after ROTS, 9 years before A New Hope. Leia and Luke look younger than 10 and Obi Wan looks barely aged. This really looks like it was 5-7 years after Revenge of the Sith.
You can really sense the chaos and instability of Anakin’s mind when he says “I am what you made me.” Followed shortly by… “You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did.”
Anakin/Vader's inner conflict seems to still permeate this scene through his conception of personal responsibility: Vader - "I am not your failure, Obi-Wan. You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker. I did" cf. Vader - "I am what you made me"
I can relate to this quote of Darth Vader in that years ago I was publicly humiliated by everyone which was one of the worst days in my life which caused me to have hatred towards people. I ended up becoming a comedian after escaping a 2 1/2 month depression. When the people that humiliated asked what I became, I ended up not saying the quote but looking back I should’ve said the quote

The way JEJ delivered that was very Anakin/Hayden like. You can tell how much Vader hates Obi Wan, and with how he emphisizes the "You" is outright blaming him (and letting him know) for what he is now.
Vader is still pretty much Anakin (at least earlier on) as much as Anakin tries to separate the 2 personalities
@@quakethedoombringer I don’t understand why most people can’t tell that Anakin is evil at this point he doesn’t give a toss about the Jedi anymore he’s embraced the Dark side what he considers to be true nature of the force

When you think about it, this series will probably be one of JEJ last appearances as Vader, and in one episode they already delivered in spades

Hands down the best scene between the 2, with Anakin/Vader saying it like he was a child and Obi Won realizing it was true, he did make him that.
This scene was cold asf bro
The main complaint I had with the story line is this supposedly takes place 10 years after ROTS, 9 years before A New Hope. Leia and Luke look younger than 10 and Obi Wan looks barely aged. This really looks like it was 5-7 years after Revenge of the Sith.

You can really sense the chaos and instability of Anakin’s mind when he says “I am what you made me.” Followed shortly by… “You didn’t kill Anakin Skywalker. I did.”

I can relate to this quote of Darth Vader in that years ago I was publicly humiliated by everyone which was one of the worst days in my life which caused me to have hatred towards people. I ended up becoming a comedian after escaping a 2 1/2 month depression. When the people that humiliated asked what I became, I ended up not saying the quote but looking back I should’ve said the quote

Say what you want about the show, but I feel that it definitely nailed the Obi-Wan and Vader moments and did a great job bridging their characters from III to IV
