Fantastic review, I have the black bay 58 in blue and I am totally in love with it, since I have owned it my whole rotation of watches has changed I literally cannot take it off the wrist, it’s so comfortable because of its low profile it’s so wearable, and the blue in person absolutely pops I haven’t seen any photograph or video that does it justice, I think it’s the perfect one watch, I do see how it can be slightly dressy for some people and has lost the real tool Watch aesthetics. But for me at the moment I’m still in love with it. Good to see the new content coming out but I’ve been binge watching your older content fantastic channel keep up the good work❤️.
I have the black BB58 and was considering selling it and getting a black Pelagos. A guy is interested in the BB58 so I got it out to take some photos for him. Setting it up for the pictures, I fell in love with it again. I'm going to do a side by side comparison with the Pelagos on Monday night but I think I know which way I'll be going. BB58.
I just purchased the black BB58. So tempted by the Navy blue 58 and the black Pelagos, but I love the smaller profile and vintage look. I also felt it was the more versatile and approachable watch. Great review/comparison... Subscribed!

I have always wanted the blue pelagos since it’s release but haven’t pulled the trigger due to the size. I’ve worn similarly sized watches but order smaller. I owned the blue bb58 which I really liked but missed having better micro adjustments on the clasp. I ended up trading it as a good deal came up but I’m now considering it again 😂🤦🏻♂️ I’m about to get either a bb58 or pelagos next month (just waiting for a Grand Seiko sale to go through) and your video has helped that decision making process. So far I have: Size: bb58 Price: bb58 Bracelet: pelagos (no rivets) Clasp: pelagos (more micro adjustments)
Each to their own. I bought the BB58 because it spoke to me as a throughly modern outdoors/utility watch, and, worn on a Nato, it has more than lived up to the role. My wrist is substantially larger than yours and the BB58 is the perfect size. I still admire that Pelagos though.
Bang on review, and I'm with you 100% on sizing and smaller watches. Comfort is king at the end of the day! That said, I owned the 58 and Pelagos but let go of the 58 over time as the vintage styling didn't sync with me long term, whereas the modern tool vibe of the Pelagos fits me perfectly. I do miss the comfort on wrist of the 58 though at times

Which color of the Pelagos did you keep? I currently have the black one, but I’m tempted to switch it out to the BB58 due to the thickness, but I have the same concerns as you have - the vintage styling
@@Kbo513 funny enough, I own the regular black Pelagos. I say wait ~10 days to see what Tudor releases before making a decision, it's quite possible they slim the Pelagos down or release new color ways for the 58, though the watches may not hit AD's until fall!

BB58 felt like it was too small and trying too hard to be a vintage dressed up submariner. Felt like a fashion homage watch to me which is fine if that’s what you want. Went home with a blue Pelagos. It’s been spending at least an hour a day underwater, can’t even feel it when swimming compared to my steel watches. Modern tough tool/dive watch, not a dressy watch. I’ve been using the T clasp bracelet several times a day to change the fit thought the day and changing environments. Most I’ve ever spent on a watch and I think it was totally worth it.

Quick note- when opening the bb58 clasp, open using a nail or finger tip from the bottom of the shield (rather than the top like you usually would). I saw it on a video and it feels much better and less clunky to open like that, actually like it’s well designed.
I want to buy the full line up in Tudor Collection: Black Pelagos, Navy Blue BB58, and the reverse panda (black with white subdial) BB Chrono. But I don’t have the money (right now at least) to own any of it. So I just bought a Seiko 5 😂. But I have a large wrist and like big watches. Each watch has its own vibe and feeling. Seiko 5 is an amazing watch! It’s the first mechanical watch I’ve ever owned. Have you thought about getting a Seiko diver? There are some very tantalizing options

Why the 58 all the time? Surely the heratige 41 is a better match for the Pelagos?? Been a while now so the 58 has lost its drama I hope. I went Rip Van Winkle when watches over 40mm came into fashion (late 90’s thru present?). Just kept re-strapping my 37mm quartz Victorinox Calvaries, and never knew any better. And always removed them well before getting in the water. Then just didn’t want anything on my wrist and went to pocket watches, my favorite being a 50mm 992B, and still had no inkling of the current trends. Then I saw the BB58, and thought, that has an old soul in a new body, and I’ll wear that, and can take down. Guess that’s why I don’t have the perception that a 38 mm would wear small on my 7 inch wrist.
Nice watches! I'd pick the pelagos. I'm waiting for this whole "aged" look fad to go away. The 58 would look so much better with just black and white with a standard black bezel. I don't understand why tudor can't make that happen in any of there watches besides the Pelagos. It's either a phoney vintage look, or they have to mess up an almost perfectly executed look with a colored bezel! Why? Just why?
We have similar wrists and similar watches :) Pelagos sits fine, however that is my limit at lug-to-lug. Is not oversized by any means, however more Tudor watches having same proportions as the BB58 is more than welcomed. Let's see what they will offer this April.
Prlagos for me ws itd a little bit different to other brands dive offerings. I went for the LHD its amasing and quirky. Shiny doee nkt equal dressy neither are dressy , still a great watch.
I have the 39mm Explorer and the blue bb58. It's a great 2 and done collection for all occasion. Now, if I could just add a Panerai, an Omega and a Grand Seiko...
Re: Unnecessarily big watches - have a look at the Seamster 300m mid-size. I have one from the early 2000's in black. Didn't get the blue Bond model on purpose. The mid-size is great! Good vid. Keep at it!
I love my Pelagos for sure and it absolutely doesn’t wear like a 42- more like a 40. Sidenote: it’s NOT all titanium. The clasp is steel as is some other parts as well. Good review otherwise
LOL, what are you smoking? The Pelagos wears more like a 44mm, as the bezel overlaps the case edge. I have the LHD version and there is a noticeable size difference on the wrist between the Pelagos and a 40mm sub
@@steveyoung101 He's right, the caseback and clasp are indeed stainless steel. For the caseback, using stainless steel makes for better screw threading, apparently.
You can open the clasp of the black bay very easily. Instead of doing it the way you did flip over the first part then pull up at the bottom end of the clasp not the top. Pops right open
Very nice review... I greatly respect the Pelagos, but it's not a watch for me. I got myself a BB58 on a leather strap. Very happy with it, and a great quality strap and clasp as well. In fact, many of my decisions points to get it are the same as yours mentioned in the video. I have only one tiny little issue with it... 'Genève' on the dial. Reminds me of the most boring city I ever visited. Just kidding... (though it is a pretty dull place). Greetings from Belgium...

Thank you! Having owned and experienced both, I personally would lean towards the Pelagos. It’s more lightweight with a more comfortable bracelet and has better lume and bezel grip/action versus the omega. Just my two cents! Hope this helps

If you look carefully, you will see that the 50mm lug-to-lug distance is wider than the reviewer's wrist. I think a 39-40mm watch works better in this case, (pun intended).
To me, round hour markers and snowflake hands doesn't work. Round markers go with mercedes hands and snowflake hands need square markers. I love titanium watches so it's pelagos all day long for me.
I want so much to love the pelagos. Titanium is just the right material for luxury watches. It blows my mind that it isn’t the standard and SS is the secondary material, given the price point of virtually any luxury watch. The cost of the materials on the high end would still be sub $200. With that said, I just don’t. It’s too big, it’s too clunky and the design is nowhere near as elegant and pretty as the BB58. I have the newer version of the same Seamaster 300 he shows in this video. NOT a tool watch, not a true dive watch, though it’s advertised and set up with the appropriate features. But honestly.. anything over 50m WR is enough for most buyers. 0.5% of people going diving on a tropical vacation will actually use their watch for the intended purpose, and any of these excellent timepieces for Rolex, Omega, Tudor, etc will shrug off the task. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to take my 300 diving, with the knowledge that it was built and tested to survive with ease.. but it’s still not a true tool, dive watch. I like the idea of the Pelagos, but no the execution. The BB58 is absolutely lovely, in black and in blue. And I’d love to get it in blue, but I already got my SM300 in blue. I see myself getting a BB58 in black one day soon. I am head over heels in love with the BB58 in bronze, but the tarnishing over time is just too much. There are posts of it looking like oxidized silver after only 6 months. SS, with a black dial sounds good to me.
love the Pelegos so much more. I just cant bear those hideous rivets on the BB bracelet..they just ruin it and make it look like a cheap £50 market watch, ditch them i may get one. I have the Pelegos to go alongside my Rolex GMT batman and James Cameron DSD. I went for the 42mm for my 7,5 inch wrist
You have a very small wrist the Pelagos is way too big for you, A BB 58 size is the upper limit of what you can wear. Sorry, this wasn't meant to be mean it's just what I'm seeing and how it works for your wrist.
I'd be all about the pelagos if it wasn't as tall and had the same blue color as the blue bb58, the blue they chose for the pelagos makes it look like cheap plastic
Very true. I think it’s a unique blue with a great pop but for serious duty it’s definitely more on the playful side. All depends on preference but I do like the bb58 dark blue much more
I wish Tudor made an alternative to my grail Rolex Explorer 2 Polar. If it looked half as good as new old stock Rolex Explorer 2 I’d camp out overnight at my nearest AD and throw my money over the counter before security escorts me to the back of the queue. 😂

I think they called the Rolex version (ref: 1655) the Steve McQueen back in the day, although he was more famously linked to the Heuer Monaco because of the cult Le Mans movie. Enjoyed your video. Pelagos superb black Bay 58 handsome however, those RIVETS on the side of the bracelet HAS NO FUNCTIONALITY NO PURPOSE outside of being an EYESORE. THUMBS DOWN 👎👎. Will not purchase any Tudors with RIVETS.
Just got mine (pelagos 39)and I am quite disappointed to feel how rough the winding function is on the movement it clicks and feels nasty compared to all my other Tudor watches. Anyone else with is issue. I seems to be keeping time but it’s hard for me to overlook this. Nothing smooth or buttery about it.

“A lot dressier, a lot prettier” is the reason I went with BB58. AD had BB, BB58 and Pelagos in stock. Tried them all on. BB58 was the winner for me.

I have had my blue 58 for over 2yrs now I have had no visibility issues, I read its because of the domed crystal so you don't need AR

Nice watches! I'd pick the pelagos. I'm waiting for this whole "aged" look fad to go away. The 58 would look so much better with just black and white with a standard black bezel. I don't understand why tudor can't make that happen in any of there watches besides the Pelagos. It's either a phoney vintage look, or they have to mess up an almost perfectly executed look with a colored bezel! Why? Just why?
This price quote i take it is in U.s dollars and does it vary from country to country ???
We have similar wrists and similar watches :) Pelagos sits fine, however that is my limit at lug-to-lug. Is not oversized by any means, however more Tudor watches having same proportions as the BB58 is more than welcomed. Let's see what they will offer this April.

Which one is lighter? I thought Pelagos could be lighter because it’s made up of titanium even though it is bigger?
Prlagos for me ws itd a little bit different to other brands dive offerings. I went for the LHD its amasing and quirky. Shiny doee nkt equal dressy neither are dressy , still a great watch.
I have the 39mm Explorer and the blue bb58. It's a great 2 and done collection for all occasion. Now, if I could just add a Panerai, an Omega and a Grand Seiko...

I think BB58 is as close to perfect as watches come at any price range.
Re: Unnecessarily big watches - have a look at the Seamster 300m mid-size. I have one from the early 2000's in black. Didn't get the blue Bond model on purpose. The mid-size is great! Good vid. Keep at it!

I love my Pelagos for sure and it absolutely doesn’t wear like a 42- more like a 40. Sidenote: it’s NOT all titanium. The clasp is steel as is some other parts as well. Good review otherwise
LOL, what are you smoking? The Pelagos wears more like a 44mm, as the bezel overlaps the case edge. I have the LHD version and there is a noticeable size difference on the wrist between the Pelagos and a 40mm sub

@@steveyoung101 He's right, the caseback and clasp are indeed stainless steel. For the caseback, using stainless steel makes for better screw threading, apparently.
Problem is I really love having a date window. Thats enough reason for me to not get a bb58
Open the clasp on the right, on the triangel side, its a lot easier
You can open the clasp of the black bay very easily. Instead of doing it the way you did flip over the first part then pull up at the bottom end of the clasp not the top. Pops right open
Very nice review... I greatly respect the Pelagos, but it's not a watch for me. I got myself a BB58 on a leather strap. Very happy with it, and a great quality strap and clasp as well. In fact, many of my decisions points to get it are the same as yours mentioned in the video. I have only one tiny little issue with it... 'Genève' on the dial. Reminds me of the most boring city I ever visited. Just kidding... (though it is a pretty dull place). Greetings from Belgium...

Thank you! Having owned and experienced both, I personally would lean towards the Pelagos. It’s more lightweight with a more comfortable bracelet and has better lume and bezel grip/action versus the omega. Just my two cents! Hope this helps

If you look carefully, you will see that the 50mm lug-to-lug distance is wider than the reviewer's wrist. I think a 39-40mm watch works better in this case, (pun intended).
Tudors are like new Rolex old stock, virtually no difference between contemporary Tudor’s and Rolex from 70s/80s.
Except even better too with improved technology, fit, and materials :)

To me, round hour markers and snowflake hands doesn't work. Round markers go with mercedes hands and snowflake hands need square markers. I love titanium watches so it's pelagos all day long for me.

The one thing that bug's me with the Pelagos is the 5 lines of writing above the six,

To me the Pelagos has always looked like a much cheaper watch than it is.
Pelagos is nice but has to flaws.The bezel to thick for a non chrongraph watch and lume on a bezel that isn't the most durable.
I want so much to love the pelagos. Titanium is just the right material for luxury watches. It blows my mind that it isn’t the standard and SS is the secondary material, given the price point of virtually any luxury watch. The cost of the materials on the high end would still be sub $200.
With that said, I just don’t. It’s too big, it’s too clunky and the design is nowhere near as elegant and pretty as the BB58.
I have the newer version of the same Seamaster 300 he shows in this video. NOT a tool watch, not a true dive watch, though it’s advertised and set up with the appropriate features. But honestly.. anything over 50m WR is enough for most buyers. 0.5% of people going diving on a tropical vacation will actually use their watch for the intended purpose, and any of these excellent timepieces for Rolex, Omega, Tudor, etc will shrug off the task. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to take my 300 diving, with the knowledge that it was built and tested to survive with ease.. but it’s still not a true tool, dive watch.
I like the idea of the Pelagos, but no the execution. The BB58 is absolutely lovely, in black and in blue. And I’d love to get it in blue, but I already got my SM300 in blue. I see myself getting a BB58 in black one day soon. I am head over heels in love with the BB58 in bronze, but the tarnishing over time is just too much. There are posts of it looking like oxidized silver after only 6 months. SS, with a black dial sounds good to me.
BB58 lug to lug is a tad too long, which defeats its otherwise desirable smaller (39mm) case diameter...
A lot prettier than the Pelagos? Don't think so, the aesthetics of the Pelagos are near perfection.

love the Pelegos so much more. I just cant bear those hideous rivets on the BB bracelet..they just ruin it and make it look like a cheap £50 market watch, ditch them i may get one. I have the Pelegos to go alongside my Rolex GMT batman and James Cameron DSD. I went for the 42mm for my 7,5 inch wrist
You have a very small wrist the Pelagos is way too big for you, A BB 58 size is the upper limit of what you can wear. Sorry, this wasn't meant to be mean it's just what I'm seeing and how it works for your wrist.

I'd be all about the pelagos if it wasn't as tall and had the same blue color as the blue bb58, the blue they chose for the pelagos makes it look like cheap plastic
Very true. I think it’s a unique blue with a great pop but for serious duty it’s definitely more on the playful side. All depends on preference but I do like the bb58 dark blue much more

I think they called the Rolex version (ref: 1655) the Steve McQueen back in the day, although he was more famously linked to the Heuer Monaco because of the cult Le Mans movie. @@markwilliams4274 i think Submariner. It's diluted, not actually the tool watch it once was and very close to jewelry. But. It's more versatile. I wear the pelagos only on weekends.
Enjoyed your video. Pelagos superb black Bay 58 handsome however, those RIVETS on the side of the bracelet HAS NO FUNCTIONALITY NO PURPOSE outside of being an EYESORE. THUMBS DOWN 👎👎. Will not purchase any Tudors with RIVETS.

Just got mine (pelagos 39)and I am quite disappointed to feel how rough the winding function is on the movement it clicks and feels nasty compared to all my other Tudor watches. Anyone else with is issue. I seems to be keeping time but it’s hard for me to overlook this. Nothing smooth or buttery about it.
