Mengu great job! We want more long format competitive content! We are tired of commander videos and casual gameplays! This is a breath of fresh air! Please more pauper! So hard to find good pauper content online!
Awesome video! One small recommendation... The player camera angles face specific directions implying they are on the left and right of the table, but the life total / hand displays are placed on the opposite sides. Threw me off at first. Got used to it after a couple minutes so it isnt that big a deal, but I would probably put them on the other side next time
Fantastic veedeo from Mengucci! Obviously some glitches like the video going dark at times, but what an impressive first showing! Fantastic explanations, editing, and gameplay. Love the card stories too.
The video going dark at times is because the write ‘Mengus Workshop’ that s on the wall behind me has different shades, we didn’t know that 😅 Next time we’ll record with that switched off :)
Yeah encourage you to keep it up! Lighting could use some consistency but happy for the content! Pauper is the most underrated format. It should be the largest eternal format in my opinion. Love it
Great video! I wouldn’t have seen this video without Cardmarket’s community post about it but now I am subscribed. Hopefully more people find the channel and it grows so you can keep making videos.
Wonderful veedeo! I was really impressed by the constantly updating list for both players' hands which was very unobtrusive at the bottom of the screen the whole time. You guys also both did an amazing job with quick shuffling and saved so much time by not cutting each others' decks. Ya'll were shuffling so quickly that I thought it was being edited out in post at first. Pauper is such an impressive and deep format full of little meaningful choices, I'm so happy that you guys are bringing it the attention it deserves. MTGO Pauper is really nice, but nothing beats paper Pauper. 1 Hour videos is probably the sweet spot for MtG youtube audience, and I can't wait for more of these :) Cheers!
as much as i love cardmarket i cant bring myself to watch edh or any gimmick gameplay.. this came at the right time. Its so nice to see another channel with the same commitment to quality focused on competitive mtg, especially since its run by one of the greats! Thank you mengu for the great video and ur incredible charisma i enjoyed every minute of the video. shoutout to tommy and his spaghetti too, he is a great cohost :)
Hey mengu, great video😊, i wanted to report a little ruling if you prevent damage from black you do not prevent the opponent from gaining 3 life with spinning darkness.
Well worth the wait! Loved this video and am excited for more to come :) One piece of (hopefully constructive) feedback, I'd love to see some sprt of decoration on the wall behind Tom. Mengu has this great backdrop with the light and some product and Tom has a plain white wall, makes it feel very one sided.
Love this kind of chill gameplay where you explain your plays through, we get to see what cards you are playing and what they do. Feels way more immersive this way!
Just watched your vintage video, and this was the next one recommended to me. It's kind of wild seeing how uncomfortable you guys were in the very beginning versus how bubbly you guys were in the vintage video. It's awesome to see the channel's growth in that way.
Mengu! Great video, glad to see competitive 60-card paper magic be paired with thoughtful editing and a little fun narrative! I imagine that if paper 60 card magic got the kind of quality production that Commander gets, it would help 60-card magic grow.
Wow Mengu, amazing production, the VEEDEO looks so cool! It was worth the wait. Hopefully the project goes very well and you be able to upload weekly here
I really enjoy pauper content, it is definitely a place that isn’t as explored at least in paper content which is easy to see and understand. And i think i enjoy long videos in the 45 min range, thank you
Thanks for making this, 1v1 competitive format paper play with commentary is quite fun to watch. Many channels start out with this kind of video and then just shift to EDH gameplay after a while. I guess it is more popular, though I am not a fan of commander.
@@AndreaMengucci Yeah, I bet the editing was really taxing ahah but absolutely worth it. I've just started playing pauper seeing your videos on MTGO and I ordered BG Gardens few hours before this video came out, it was really helpful for a beginner!
Subscribing solely on the hopes it inspires more paper pauper! Amazing video and would 100% prefer paper pauper over MTGO. I enjoyed every second of this video
Mengu I love your veedeos! Thank you for the pauper content. I totally agree with you about getting the tokens you need for your deck. It makes gameplay the way it is intended to be. Keep the pauper content coming! Also hello to Tom! Can’t do it without you.
More Magic is best Magic for sure- that's what we love about the Pauper format! Love seeing the classic Crypt Rats to draw out- I didn't even notice it in the first game, great job Tommy! Takes me back to the old Mono-Black Devotion lists before Crypt Rats had so many ways to overcome their own damaging ability. Look forward to seeing many more Paper Pauper videos from you, thank you for doing them!
I usually play Gardens and I run 2 campfires in the main and they're veeery good! Life gain for the aggro matchups and you can shuffle your graveyard back into your deck for the long games. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it a lot ❤
Caw gates is my favorite pauper deck because I feel like it’s very modular and adjustable to the meta whilst also not being very weak to sideboard cards. The main weakness of the deck is being somewhat slow and unexpected matchups.
I feel like what this match needed was some contrived stakes for the match; something that would make both players more invested in the game. Perhaps if Mengu had to wear a dunce cap in the next video if he lost. I think that would make the whole experience more engaging.
As a Gardens player myself I have to say that was awesome! Some mistakes (which have already been touched on), but overall it was a great pilot episode and I for one can't wait to see more Pauper and paper gameplay.
This is really well produced and easy to watch. Some paper games with 5 minutes of shuffling a turn gets old. I enjoy these casual matches like you are playing with a friend.
Really nice and quality content!. Its so amazing to see a great player creating videos of the format I love. Thanks and cant wait for more pauper games!.
Very nice video. Thanks to the video edits and comments, I enjoyed the clarity of the gameplay which is not easy to have on a paper magic . I even found myself smiling at the 'spagetti Lembas' :-). Once again, great video, I would definitely enjoy more game of pauper with different decks.
Really cool high level gameplay! The production quality is for the most part very good and Pauper is always fun to watch. So grindy, so many little interaction. Made me itch for some pauper action again
Wow! The content i knew i wanted but never thought i will get. I am a big Fan of cardmarked and my Favorit Episoden were the one with mengu. Best of Luck with this Project!
Yay, the first video! Congratulations 🎉! Always love watching pauper, very intricate decks and generally good gameplay, can't wait for the next one :) One small thing in terms of feedback: I felt like the music was a tiny bit too loud in the background but it was really minor, I could still understand you both very well. I really like that your editing style is very similar to Cardmarket's, super easy to follow, not intrusive and all relevant info always on screen. Looking forward to more Pauper and Modern(?)
Incredibly good first video Andrea! It's great to just watch some good pauper gameplay. Excellent production value as well, great job with the overlays. For future videos I'd love to see deck techs for the featured decks as well.
Hi Mengu, what a great start for the new channel. Hoping to help with the content quality, I will suggest: - better "light control", because sometimes daylight goes out - fullscreen zoom of all the showcased cards, because I think that haveing altered arts and their stories behind is something unique about this channel Good Luck again, and buon viaggio!
It's very enjoyable to watch such high caliber play with a format like pauper. I would love to see more with other types of competitive decks. Thanks for the entertainment and education.
Great job! I love all of the work that went into the editing. Being able to clearly see the hands and the cards as they are played is great for me as a Pauper Newbie.
I do love the paper Magic format you adopted, please keep it simple just as you did right now. Nothing too fancy, just two friends playing Magic casually to have fun!
Hi mengu! Big fan of yours, you've made me fall in love with mtg with your videos. Can't wait for more gameplay action! Also, i don't know if this is intended, but i think cardmarket's videos best feature is the little explaining that players do in the other room, so that the plays are well understood by the audience and also educational. Might be intended that you dont want to "copy" cardmarkets style, but i think adding it would make these videos even better! can't wait for more :)
such a great content, very happy to see the real start of the channel. Since i see the Magic Cardmarket channel more like a content channel i'm rly glad to see this inspirated format like but focussed on competitve metagame matchups. Love u mengu keep up with the good work!
I couldn’t believe it when I saw this video in my feed! super exciting and great energy all around! I also like the stories on the cards. I think that because of the camera angles, it makes more sense for your names and hands etc to be on the other side of the screen. it feels backwards. good luck with the channel!!!

Great video, easy to follow, explanatory, seeing the cards in hand is absolutely fantastic! A channel like this was missing on YT, congratulations to both of you!
Tom should have gained the 3 life from Spinning Darkness in game 2. Strands doesn't give pro-black. It just prevents damage, so the target still resolved
The reason people love paper pauper gameplay because there not enough of paper pauper gamespy

Totally yes, we need to figure that out! (Problem is that part of the background is a door, room is kinda small 😅)
Oh and also, top notch choice of basics! Love the ones from both players, they match the basics for my cube
Well. It is Mengu's workshop. Not Tom's. 😀
