The same thing happen with my Kadota breba figs this year. They had a purple ring inside the skin. I had never seen that before.

Maybe its just the breba on the peters honey that has that color? I just had my first main crop and it was amazing. Interior was light like honey and the flavor was a very sweet honey that lingered on the pallette for a minute.

I believe its the weather this year. My green ischia are blood red on the inside. last year they were strawberry. My Peters honey is also purplish on the inside usually Amber.

Why is your Osbourne Prolific Green? The skin is supposed to be purple. Looks like you either got the wrong tree or got them mixed up.

Where I live is few hours from Seattle the figs aren't always regular color even if variety is correct unless tree is in sunny location during hottest part of year. My black or purple varieties can be ripe and green. After moving to better sun color corrected.

Hey Ben! I'm loving your vids and figs! So I've been wondering if figs should be eaten skin and all coz most of the folks I've asked who are from the middle east, Turkey, Greece seem to eat just the inside and discard the skin. But after watching this vid I realize it depends if the skin is leathery or not, and in this case, the whole fig including the skin were soft enough and sweet and juicy right thru the skin to be consumed whole, skin and all. Am I right to make this conclusion? Do you normally expect to eat the whole fruit, skin and all? I know I eat the whole fruit when it comes to dried figs, except for the hard tip of the stem. I'm guessing it also has to do with the particular variety, whether it's skin or walls are thin and juicy, or thicker and leathery? Thanks in advance for your response, Ben!

certain figs like my peters honey last year was too leathery. The brebas this yr though were good to eat whole. Not sure why, probably certain environmental factors and how much water you give it.

Hey Ben , are your green ischia figs farther ahead this year? It almost looks like my main crop is going to ripen this year.
