This will likely forever be my favorite game. I've been playing for over a decade now. Only taking a few months break at most. Maybe once I took a whole year off while having no console

Same. There's nothing like coming back to it after a long time. Out of all, I've returned to Minecraft more than any other game I've ever played by far.

same. also its crazy that its already 15 years old. i started playing when my brother introduced me to the game. he made a server for me and him so he could teach me how to play the game. i could barely fight creepers when i started. minecraft has a place in my heart. and its still my favourite game and will be forever.

This is how I've always felt about minecraft and I'm glad people are finally recognizing it.
I however, have depression and other mental illnesses which make daily life difficult. So minecraft often requires too much motivation, but I've owned my realm since 2020 and I've yet to truly abandon it. Yeah, I get burnt out and play something else or play modded singleplayer instead for a month sometimes, but I come back. It's progressing and although j really wish it would progress faster, I also know I'm getting better at being less of a perfectionist so that should help(and is so far).

Minecraft is all about taking your time in my opinion. I myself have never had a single world last for almost 4 years. Taking is breaks is essential to be creative about things in my opinion.

The biggest problem with Minecraft is people who can't entertain themselves being mad that a game that depends on you to entertain yourself doesn't entertain them.

I mean, people can dislike it if they do, but if people can't name why or they blame solely the progression(which is admittedly bad) or similar, like bad boss fights, I say 95% chance they don't actually not like minecraft, they just don't like the crappy version of it they forced themselves through because they don't understand how to play sandbox games

Thank you so much. It's like I said some people just try to look at it as any other game, and that's the worst way to play minecraft.

Yeah exactly ! This is what I've been telling everyone. People play Minecraft like they would play every other game : reach the objectives, then once the objectives are finished, they think there is nothing else to do and quit. They completely miss the meat of the game, which is the sandbox aspect. I've been creating my own universe on a creative map for 10+ years straight and I can't think of myself ever stopping ! Minecraft is a creative game ! Be creative !

the "meeting people who you'll never meet again" bit is all too real. i played skyblock with this dude back in 2012 for weeks, one day he said "I'll be on tomorrow" and that was the last we ever saw each other. hope all the "lost" players that I teamed up with back in the day are doing alright nowadays.

For me Minecraft is a game I always return to, a game I wish I had when I was a child (or better not, it would have impacted my schoolwork).
I was 25 when I discovered this game (2012) and 12 years later I still play it. Before Minecraft I wasn't that into games, except for Simcity and Age of Empires that I played in the late 90's through 2010 off and on.
I do have my breaks of the game (sometimes a month or 3-4, which I find healthy but otherwise I have enough to do to keep me inspired/motivated. I consider this game also a medicine, it helped me through tough times in terms of health but also a great distraction of daily life and set your mind to rest so to speak.
In terms of gameplay I choose single player, servers aren't it for me. The resets are my biggest issue, that's why I have a single player world of almost 9 years old. I want to develop builds and build history.
My advice, give a SSP (surival single player world) a go, it doesn't run away or expire when you leave for a year. Building something also creates memories which can help you later on. If you're only for the new features, well updates aren't what they used to be better treasure the existing ones.

    • @leanwalker69
      @leanwalker69  2 місяці тому

I love being able to play with friends, as far as big servers go I hardly ever play any survival on those (Like you said, it's just the resets), but if you are able to get at least a small group of friends together and play the game as a true sandbox it can be such a fun time or just a relaxing casual way to unwind.
Also you are 100% correct about about the whole impacting schoolwork thing 😂

Played since the summer of 2010, got lucky with my friend who had a cracked version. I still see him. I’ve been playing off and on for years. Our realm is running after almost 5 years. I’m about to mod it, I’m gonna keep playing this game for as long as possible. I’ve already done everything, so I’ll just keep finding reasons to play it.
I Think the immersion is how I keep playing. I just get lost and don’t want to leave it.

definitely was one of those people who couldn't install a mod without a virus ridden installer for the first 2 years of playing the game. Used to also think if you downloaded one of those horror maps you could also play it once because I didn't think you could copy a back up of the map before triggering the red stone.

I still enjoy aspects of modern Minecraft. I enjoy playing on servers with my friends, and just goofing around, building stupid shit and saying dumber shit. It's fun. Not as social, but still fun. What I mean by social is playing split-screen on the 360. Back in 2012, I was among the first to buy a console with Minecraft on it, in my group of friends, and in my neighborhood. So, everyone would come over and play Minecraft, and it was a fun time. Later on, my dad helped me set up a server, so people could play on the world from their homes, but people would still come over and play. Then we all just kinda moved away and moved on. I haven't had contact with those people in about eight years, and I don't know where they are. I miss them, but I'm glad I got to spend time with them.

I think school also might play a role in why people don't truly use minecraft as the sandbox it's designed to be
I think school saps that creative energy/spirit that we all have as children and then we get older, and get more and more conditioned to being told what to do, instead of thinking for ourselves and creating things

I dont understand all these anti-minecraft videos I've seen lately. I feel it's the best it's ever been. While nostalgia has its place, going back to earlier versions is simply frustrating because I want to do more than the older game allows. There's simply so much more potential now than there used to be, and I love the horror direction they're taking again. Feels like they're going back to the roots of Minecraft. There is no limit to the game as long as there is no limit to your imagination

    this is just amazing.
recently, I had some motivation and just...started it up again. I was always the one getting people to play, and I'd keep a server half alive for a few months before people walked away from it. I have always been the speedrunner, the person who blew through the progression fastest. but this time, I did something different. me and my buddies spawned on an island-a big one, with a village and cherry trees and all. so nice. but at one point, I thought "what if I don't get netherite for a full set?" I went out and searched for it, got the stuff for it, and got to work. my friend got on with me the next day and asked me where all the trees went. got the netherite not because of a speedrun, but for an axe. only and axe. and all because I thought "why not take all the trees? it would be funny. and I want to build" I found that speedrunning is easy for me, but what's fun is spending a bunch of time doing something for one laugh. just a funny moment. something to remember. it may seem a weird story, but it was just me talking about how I found some enjoyment in the game. I just did what came to mind and rolled with it. I don't have any set goals this time, and I feel more creative then ever. take a few trees, make a bunker, whatever comes to mind! I got all the wolf breeds after walking/swimming super far.
thanks for the video. you not only gained my admiration, and my thankfulness (and my subscription) but you just gave me even more motivation. my mind is feeling happy right now. I have never loved minecraft more.

Going back to beta 1.7.3 helped me articulate my issues with the modern game that prevented me from enjoying it. The new content all seems to promote constantly being on the move and doing something to progress. It's hard to sit down and build when I feel there's something better I could be doing with my time in-game. Why am I even building when I could get the best tools and armor to make things easier? Then I get burnt out before the point I could even get to that stuff since it's easy enough to get to be on my mind all the time, but just annoying and tedious enough to achieve that I just don't. And why should I get that stuff when I know it's going to just take any resistance out of the game and make building feel pointless?
Beta allows me to just sort of... exist. There are external problems revolving around infrastructure, but the solutions allow me to be creative. A fancy wall over here to block mobs, an old wooden bridge over there to make it more convenient to cross the river to the desert for sand... oh hey! There's some open space here between these two things. I should make a little plaza or garden to fill it in. And I should totally make a path from my base to that bridge! It allows my mind to wander over the possibilities instead of relying on easy solutions that will remove any resistance the game provides.
To me, Minecraft is at its best when it encourages solving problems in ways that allow for creative expression. Maybe I'll be able to play modern with this mindset one day, and maybe some tweaks to discourage stuff like relying on structures or overpowered items like the Elytra.

This is why i much perfer beta 1.7.3, and the better than adventure mod, it feels like a completely different game, the incentives aren't on getting the best tools or armor, or speedrunning the game. Theres no end so you can try;> They're on expanding your world, seeing your creative juices, exploring caves, and just. Creating a world thats truely yours, in your artistic vision. Cause if your gonna have a world for a very long time, stuff that the game gives you to do won't matter in the long run, but yeh beta and better than adventure change how i play lol.

I always wanted to start my own country, and i did exactly that in a unique way that only I could have done. I created an advanced successful technocratic metropolis with its own economic, political systems. (Server)
The game is quite literally a self-awareness journey, and it even helped me irl.
None of it could otherwise be possible. Thank you Notch for spending sleepless nights coding this masterpiece.

i think there's a bit of a problem with minecraft incentivising you more to loot structures than to build, that's slowly gotten worse over the years, and leads directly to the 2 week phase thing.
i've been having a lot more fun with minecraft again after going back to old beta versions. they just give you more incentives to actually build and express your creativity, instead of distracting you from it. helps me get into the right mindset. it's cool that you managed to find your fun again in the modern version and i hope everyone who reads this can too, be it in old, new or modded minecraft
