Amazing to me that we have something so sophisticated and organized as the periodic table, but when it comes to nomenclature the best a teacher can give you is "memorize it"
hi how are u
Im so impressed cuz this guy does not blink at all.
It's people like you that save my grades
exactly! 😄
Right
Starts at 1:52 .
Very important tip for memorizing though, thanks.
Make sure to study them both ways. You need to be able to recognize the symbols when given the name, but also the name when given the symbols. Also, you need to review periodically so that you don't forget these. Otherwise, this is a great technique.
hi how are u
The awkward moment when you're watching this at midnight
how did you....
Lol yess
Perhaps only time people realize Its kinda too late
Of course Not me... I Hey! Don't look at me like that!!
Lol yeah
12 28 am
11:45 pm. Exam at 9:00
This better work
9:00 pm. Exam at 8:00 am.
I hope so
12:52 am. Exam at 9:40 am.
We'll see what happens
10:13 pm. Exam 8:00 am.
............I'm Doomed
4:55 am. Exam at 9:00am .
Dear Lord,
6:51 am. Exam at 8:00 am.
......Here we go!
2 blinks
My chemistry teacher is by no means the best, and hearing this after my chem grade is a 24 has really helped. I am rather angry that my teacher did not teach us stuff like this, and thanks for the midnighttutor i can hopefully get my grade back on track.
hi how are u
Thank you for the video. Btw you don't blink your eyes ?!
+Ellen Chang lol
Hmm...I didn't even observe it...yeah ur such fast...
Maybe he loves u
He did blink many times
I saw this comment first and while watching the video so funny LOL
"Midnight Tutor" lol... And then he's buff. Definitely caught my attention. This is the stuff that gives me the chuckle I need to keep on studying. Happy studying guys!!
Watching this at midnight. Thanks man. You're a champ.
That was the most awkward smile I've ever seen at the end.
prettyeric LOL
+prettyeric laughed too hard when i went back to see what you were talking about
4:09
Chemistry teachers are either cool or weird af lol
Laughed so hard!
Your techniques of reading and writing it down are excellent! I have read some research that promotes approximately the same thing, except it includes reading each item out loud as you go through before you write it down. This can help commit and even higher percentage of the information to longer term memory because of hearing it out loud as well.
Lol this is just a video to motivate us to actually TRY to memorize, rather than techniques of memorizing... like the "ate" and "ite" with their ions
Whatever works... We just need wanna pass... 😂
@@fifi_fiaz6116 all we want is to pass 😅
if i got a nickel for every time this guys blinks id owe $3.00
He never blinked once...
How did you even notice that! And duuudde he won’t blink once! That’s scary😱😂
His have no moisture now. 😂
Thanks!! This is gonna save me for my big test on Friday, muchas gracias!!
3:09 when someone snatch our ice cream
A Dog your mother must have told you about me
😂😂😁😁
I use certain little tricks to help me memorize (I hope someone else finds them useful!):
1. -ite is smaller than -ate. There are less O atoms (oxygen ) in the molecule with -ite than with -ate.
2. For the --chlor-- , Nitr--, and --sulf--molecules: You can memorize all of them easily because they have the same basic arrangement!
EX:
Hypo-CHLOR-ite = ClO-
CHLOR-ite = ClO2- (just an increase
CHLOR-ate = ClO3- in O atoms)
Per-CHLOR-ate = ClO4-
This is super helpful, thank you.
This worked so damn well for me. I expected it to take more than 30 minutes cause I'm slow as fuck. I did it in 18 minutes. Then I made flashcards and randomized them to see if I could still remember them all, I remember and I imagine that I will until the universe reaches a total state of entropy. Thank you.
Nice video, definitely gonna try this technique right now. I'm a physics major and I lift weights. Cool to see a tutor with similar interests.
5/5! Thanks! I love to learn more and more each day! I love chemistry and physics! It's a real shame... I didn't have any good teachers, especially the ones who didn't know any English!
The technique helped a lot. Thanks a lot! Took me about 20 mins to get all of my anions down. Now for the cations, bases and acids!
Thanks, dude. You are right. This is such an obvious & simple step to take, but just requires making the decision to stop being lazy and take a moment to sit down and do it. Thanks for this list and for the motivation.
OMG I think you just saved my life from failing tomorrow!!!! THANKYOU!!!!
lmao didn't even notice the name was "midnighttutor".. looked at my clock - 12:29 am. Damn he's good
I didn't even know where to start studying these and then I saw your video. I know what to do now, thank you! =)
Great idea on the memorization method. I've lost so many points to nomenclature and polyatomic ions it's not even funny. Thanks for the video!
The risk I took was calculated, but man, I am bad at math.
Thanks midnight tutor, its 11:26 pm here. Right on schedule.
these r such good tips thank u!
Any vids or recommendations on naming the basic heterocycles?
Whom of us are watching in 2023
Thanks! Im definitely going to try this right now!
I am determinately going to try what he just said.
Thanks alot. This is really an amazing, important and helpful tip which can be used in various places.
This is really a great video on memorizing. I will definately use this.
I dislike straight out memorization...making connections is a stronger way to retain info, so (even if no one really needs it or cares) I will offer one more tip:
If there is a Bi-- as a prefix, then the molecule likely has a H (hydrogen atom).
Ex: Bi-carbonate (HCO3-), Bi-Sulfate (HSO4-)
Also both of these have an -ate at the end so they end in the same O number (of atoms) as just CarbonATE (O3) or SulfATE (O4).
This method really helped me! Thanks so much!

This is a lecturer you probably don't want to mess with. Probably the camera guy is about 2 meters away in order for his muscles to fit the screen properly.
Superb teaching ican under stand easily
you just saved my life thank you
im glad your teaching me something
cause my teacher sure isnt, everything is over the internet, so im glad he told us one thing.. that he obviously cant do it 8-)
Thank You so much for this video! I will try this, because nothing else is working!
i wish i would have watched this before i took my test on wednesday lol
IT WORKS!!!! THANK YOU
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH
thanks so much!!!!!!!! :) hopefully i do well on the test on these the day after tomorrow :(

his voice is kinda like booming. was listening to this through my earpiece and when the video first started i kept checking to see if i didn't plug the earpiece in properly, it sounds like its coming from the surroundings
thank you, you helped alot
I see the names correctly... The one under bicarbonate, is that hypochlorite?? Can someone post a list of it?
Hope this saves my butt on this chem and chem lab exam.
thank you. anyone else here and got a test in less than 12 hours?
thank you, ill surely try
Thank you! Good Strategy
thanks man, you really helped me
why is john cena teachin us chemistry at 230am
THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING LMAO
his unblinking eyes hypnotized me xD :))
How does memorizing a list of polyatomic ions help with all chemical nomenclature? The title is misleading.
Keep doing what you do! Awesome (:
He could totally win a staring contest..
love the little half smile at the end but thanks :)
Thanks!! I like the sound of this idea. I'm sure it suits my learning style :D
thenks this might help
uploaded on my bday ! ;)
+beauty&life girl omg u go girl power to the women YEAH
Adam Arab okay? haha
You look like my football coach in high school. Thanks for the help btw.
This video got me freakin' out that my right ear was going out of service.
Great idea thank you good sir 🤙
lol, I actually came up with this before watching this vid because i was too lazy to study for my vocab so i just wait till the day b4 the test and do this, XD never wouldve thought I could use it for chem
thank u helped me a lot
Thanks so much, awesome help!
When this video started I though that there was a guy standing behind me. This really helped though!
I'll try it now
this helped so much
I wish my chemistry teacher told me this at the very start of the year
yes i agree with u
It was only accorded to that year, when this video was released :(. 0:26
Ok, let´s learn some nomenclatu-- Oh, shit, look! The Element Song! :D
thanks for the tips you really helped =)
He almost blinks at 0:25 but he restrains himself because blinking shows weakness!
Thank you so much
I have a chemistry test tomorrow
Thanks alottt really helpfull
i am not recognising ,what is name of compound and writing the product from reactant plzz answer
Midnight Tutor. Nice.
GREAT VID. THANKS ALOT.
Legends watching in 2023
Thank you so much!
Very helpful
@personwhosnowboards Haha funny because his names MidnightTutor!
How to name NOCl
@hatzblue ehhh...I'm not a molecule....I dont like labels.
why is this guy not active anymore???
thank you very much!!
Ohhh I was looking for techniques to memorize boiling points and all that stuff but ended up here.
See this guy eyes ...........
Ooooo god he doesn't blinks.
Why why why why .........l mean how
Why doesn't he blink?
Viola Mae Bermejo ask him
Watching this since I have an my First Exam in Chemistry on Monday 😭😂
Thanks for the video!!!! liked!
