Today, 9 December 2022, is the 10th anniversary of the death of Sir Patrick Moore, whose enthusiastic commentaries on astronomy and space were a truly great inspiration for so many people and whose Sky at Night programme continues to this day, 10 years on, and this is one of many legacies that Sir Patrick has left us. His enthusiasm for his subject and his passion for it are still very sorely missed and always will be. I hope up there somewhere he has a glorious view of the stars and planets, comets, galaxies, asteroids, black holes, nebulae and so on.

What a wonderful man! A lifetime of remarkable accomplishment. By inspiring so many with his knowledge and great enthusiasm, he was a preeminent contributor to science and culture.
It is such a shame that Sir Patrick Moore did not live long enough to see events such as the Pluto flyby, The Rosetta Philadelphia lander on a comet, the amazing close up pictures of Jupiter from the Juno Spacecraft, the discoveries that the Dawn probe has made at Ceres, the end of the tremendous
Tremendously successful Cassini probe, the discovery of gravitational waves, the list could go on! At least the Sky at Night has continued, carrying on his legacy, with worthy successors, although I don’t Think we shall ever see a man like him again. He was truly a one-off, and his enthusiastic commentaries On astronomy and space will always be missed.
