I paid a visit to Sir Patrick last weekend ..not a well man but all the same a great man indeed , I spent an afternoon with him eating his cakes and drinking his tea ..lovely man and a national treasure
He's an awesome, awesome, awesome character. That voice. The pace and cadence of his speech. The famous monocle. Astronomy. His musical compositions. That bike. His 90 year old typewriter. His eccentricity and originality. What a legend.
I have the whole 1 hour show on dvd and I love watching it again, and again. Brian C's edition of the Observer's book must be a later edition than mine, which has a different dustcover on it
The affection seemed absolutely genuine. RIP Sir Patrick.
My 16 year old son doesn't care for Queen like I do. But, he loves science and is a fan of the Astro-Physicist Brian May.

I love how Sir Patrick reaches up to Dr. Bri for a hug. Now we know what it's like when planets collide (in a good way).
Brian's reaction to resembling Sir Issac Newton=priceless.
The affection on the faces of these men as they look at Sir Patrick Moore shines out! Lovely!
Sir Patrick Moore brought the universe into peoples' living rooms. I knew him and his passing is a very very sad loss to astronomy. R.I.P
