Wow, that was inmense. Great impression of speed over those rough waters. I always loved V-bottom monohulls, even being slower than cats on smooth waters. A V-Bottom going at speed is a beutiful sight, even more when dancing with the waves
People don't even understand how mean & tough Apache boats were, especially the 1980's built '41's. Pure monsters w/the appropriate power & drives. The only v-bottoms back then that could really compete were Reggie's Fountains, in my opinion. Yes, Cigarette made some solid boats as did Velocity, Sutphen and others, but..Apache's just owned the rough water, absolutely owned & crushed.
Apache, they are my favorite speed boats. As I highly regard them, at 100mph in 5 to 8ft waves is where they absolutely shine and walk away from every other boat in the pack at 90 miles an hr!!! Everyone Else has to slow down or risk being broken in half! No shit. A fountain boat and others last a few years racing like this, before total overhaul of the hull, or they have and will break in half... Apache, is made from military products, Kevlar, and military epoxys, etc... while heavier than Fountain, Cigarette, Donzi, etc. These boats have advantage in calm seas. But in anything over 4 ft. Apaches cannot be touched!!! Apaches, racing W.O.T. last for around 20 years till need overhaul. Also if I remember correctly, not one hull has ever broken in half!!! The countless hours of testing, engineering, military materials used, the love of the sport, absolute bad ass driving of Ben Cramer ( while racing towards the finish line or between races, racing from the cops, with a load of the devils dandruff) ( 9 out of 10 were doing double duty racing and a transporter, just too much $ in it) 😈 basically the best of the best and absolute resolve to make the most bad ass rock solid, consistent 🏆 in the roughest of seas. Turned the 80s 90s Apaches into absolute Rockstars of the power boat brands, As of this day, They are stunning boats, comparable to modern boats, still to this day, people are spending countless time and dollars to rebuild, restore, keep in tip top shape. To the classic older boats from this golden age in powerboat racing....
Sold in late 2021 on bring a trailer for 401k. I knew the guy who owned it up here in Massachusetts a while back. Used to run it out of the Merrimack river in Salisbury.
WOW! I mean how could you not like this kind of stuff?! I've always had an interest but never followed any of it per se. I've fallen down a deep ass rabbit hole and I'm enjoying it even more than ever before. Above even just the raw hp, there's a lot of science going on in rough sea racing at high speeds even of this era. Its just wild to see them doing 90 in waves that big LOLOL....i did 75 on relatively smooth lake water and felt that was a thrill, 90 in that has got to feel like the ride of a life time equal parts thrilling and frightening
the third guy is the navigator. because when they used these boats in races they didnt have GPS to guide them and because the driver and throttleman have to pay complete attention to what they're doing, they have the third guy read charts and tell the driver where to point the boat
Fuck the number ever since I saw this thing or one of his boats anyway going through haulover the only thing I've wanted as much as a nice fishing boat is an apache xD
Watching this boat never gets old.
You are correct about that Sir
Imagine doing that in the middle of the night with a hull full of cocaine. Living the dream.
😂
this is how I imagine myself in my small 30ft scarab panther with 454s. This apache is what dreams are made of!
You have a great hull. You just need the right set up and you can run that boat into the 80’s with twin big blocks.
Hahaha quality mate.
I had one with twin 502 with all the goodies, she would fly in rough water
This throttle man deserves a platinum award. Like WOW.
Best in the business

Nothing could touch an Apache in rough water
Still can't. They say legends never die, and the 41 Apache is living proof.
What a boat! What a crew!
The best v bottom ever created!!!!!!!!

Absolutely. This video is just one of many examples. 90 mph+ in 6-8 ft seas. Most people can't even comprehend what it takes to do that.
There’s no doubt that this is some of the most incredible and exciting offshore boat racing video ever filmed!!
ABSOLUTELY F--ING AWESOME 👍🤩
Man, that was nuts !! Apachies still the baddest boats in the world............ !!!
Yes for sure
Bob said this was the best boat they built and ran. He said the 41' was perfect for the rough seas.
This is the best video on UA-cam ❤
Build by Bobby Saccenti Warpath Apache hull #001 Team Apache 🎉
Scarabchris, I couldn't have said it better myself, you explained it all right there; and that is some true powerboat racing right there.
Imagine the amount of forces in the engine mounts when it lands from those jumps.
"Nobody and I repeat nobody is staying with him"!!! Haha

The first 2:30 of the Warpath running is the most impressive thing I've ever seen on the water.
I was raised in Point Pleasant, NJ. While the racers themselves were absolute tools personally, I loved watching the race every year.
Best video on youtube. Does anyone know where to find the full race?
That sound. Is amazing. And rough water. Yea no problem 😉
Apache was heavier and more reinforced than the other deep vee boats of its day.
Holy crap that's some jump @ 3:15
That boat should have snapped in half. Haha
Wat killed Ranger!😆Til u realize u want both!😆
Beautiful
throttleman is in the zone
Is this the apache from toms river by any chance ? The one parked in the backyards that have canal access ?
Awesome!
2:22 smooooth
Wow!!!!!! That’s all I have to say is wow………………
Do they still make them?
Love 💕
Damn. Now that’s entertainment!!!
Why does the bow tend to go down? Trim or front heavy?
Had enough of these silent outboards... Bring back the noise!!!!
Real offshore powerboat racing.
Hi Steve, I saw this one as well - would love to use a small clip of this one too - and of course, with proper credit.
What's the purpose of the the third person?
the third guy is the navigator. because when they used these boats in races they didnt have GPS to guide them and because the driver and throttleman have to pay complete attention to what they're doing, they have the third guy read charts and tell the driver where to point the boat
Back then there would be a map of the race course under some plexiglass with all the turns mapped out remember gps wasn't invented until the 1990s
That's so crazy.
Mega
Making power
Good lord 💪
John Robert Bruffett Junior USA 🇺🇸 USA 🇺🇸 USA 🇺🇸 USA 🇺🇸!

There's nobody even close!! Haha
Pretty sure this was the race when Popeye sank after the finish
Wat killed Ranger😆Till u realize u want both!
Am I the only one here in 2021 when “69” is cool
Nice

They are Yanks...it is MPH.

You can keep that boat I rather be in a 36 ft Yellowfin with triple Yamaha
Awww, nobody replied to your comment like you wantes
