I remember watching these Apaches in the early through late 1980s in Lake Michigan...Grand Haven, Saugatuck, South Haven. Apache has always been the best looking boat on the water, in my opinion. Nothing touches it for straight-up coolness. It's like the Steve McQueen of boats.
Growing up in south Florida on the water. I got a bit early in life about the powerboats. In my 20s started going to the OPT-APBA graces Always loved watching the 47 Apaches My second boat was a 22 Apache
@@tylerdiedrich1947 Well, in reference to "God"---only God Almighty can change the heart of a murderer or ANY MAN. So, hopefully BK has had some time to rethink his life while he's been sitting in prison for all these years for the murder of one of the founding fathers of Offshore type hulls (Don Aronow). I don't wish ill will on any man, but BK is a convicted murder and is sitting in prison for just reasons. So okay, BK won a few races in an Apache when it was born, but it does not make the man a hero or model citizen in the way that you think he is or want to believe he is. If you want to worship BK, then that is your own choice, but posting the words----"God speed Ben Kramer shame he is still in all these years later"---- you should probably expect some push -back and I think your comment is outrageous just to put it out there like it should or will be widely accepted. Like I said before, only God Almighty can truly change the heart of a man IF the man will accept and allow God into his life. That goes for ANY person and I truly have that hope for BK, but for now he must pay the price for his crimes to society and be punished justly for his actions. Yes, they have a high pitched ripping tone and sound to them for sure---could be because of the "Y"-pipes (tailpipes) and maybe the Hilborne velocity stack fuel injection system on the engines. I'm curious to know what kind of compression his engines have as it could also have an effect on the overall sound/tone of the engines. They sound great!
850 horse a piece! I believe when BK ran it they were at 805. Early mech fuel-injection. Everything now is electronic. This is history. Glad they restored it!
I'd love more content about the motors. They don't sound like a traditional, deep/rumbly, 500+ ci big block. They sound like they spool up pretty high on the revs.
These motors are 850hp+ bb. Bored and stroked. Electronic fuel-injection. When BK ran they were 454's to a 496, mechanical fuel injection and ran 805hp. That's all I could dig up from the internet during the restoration.🤷♂️

Thanks for your comment and for watching!
I still watch old reruns of the lake Michigan races
Mid 83-85 we had a race out of Northport. A little town at the tip of grand traverse bay. It was pretty awesome
"Allez vite" was in West Michigan until 2016. She's one of the originals.
Lots of history and controversy right there. I’ve always loved that boat. Those were the golden years of offshore.
Amen.
Damn! I love that pure 8-into-1 headers X 3! ❤ I love that sound!❤

Ben Kramer, besides being a drug dealer, murdered Don Aronow the founder of Cigarette. There is not anything special about him or his boat.
Ben didn't murder Don and nobody close to him believes he did. Don was selling boats to drug runners and the feds. That's what killed Don.
