Thanks for the heads up. Well we know every day can't be Rosie.

We have reservations to camp there at the end of the cul-de-sac you just showed earlier next year. Hopefully everything will be good at our campsite with the electric and ants not being a problem

We chatted with some other UA-camrs who've stayed there. They also brought their own yard tools. But like us, agreed you can't beat the location and price. The county needs to at least oversee those who don't care about the job they're doing on the campground.

My nearest favorite county park requires or at least I do it,clean each time I visit. The fire pit always has trash then I sweep and edge the concrete pad finally I'll collect the bottle caps and cigarette butts. With that in mind I keep going back to that park.. Thanks RWR

we spent last winter working at an rv resort in Mission TX and this winter will be working in San Diego TX seems like power issues all the time down there . the park looks to be out dated in need of new management .

Exactly. It's the county. So taxes are paying salaries of ineffective leaders & workers. The beach area is immaculate. Obviously not the same management.

I used to work for Camping World and the number of individuals that DON'T have a back up generator was surprising. Invest in a generator, you will thank yourself in the end. As for the little critters, always keep a can of ant control spray.

Thanks for trying to help. And letting others know what they should plan for. We appreciate it. We have a built in diesel generator. The power got so low it wouldn't turn over. If we'd had a 2nd generator, I assume you mean a small one, maybe that would help with lights? We couldn't have run the residential fridge/freezer or the large a/c. Also used ant spray, but when the place is full of ant hills, that's not enough, plus didn't want to keep breathing it. This park needs serious pest control on a regular schedule.

I’m glad you said what you did and you showed what the situation is in the park. That park is very sought after and very hard to get a reservation because it is in a great location location location.
I was born and raised in Brownsville and lived there about 30 years of my life and spent many days on SPI and still take our 5th wheel down to the park, when we can get in.
Cameron county is one of the poorer counties in the valley. They fought off a company that wanted to buy the park so that it could remain accessible to the general public. Yes 25.00 is a gem. Yes, you get what you pay for. You should be grateful and hope the county can hold off those corporations that want to come in and change the amenities and charge 100’s of dollars a night. If you were so disappointed and disgusted by the condition of the park. Go stay at the KOA to the tune off 200/night on the bayside and crammed into a site. Your title and your content are very confusing and contradicting.
There are nicer places you can go to along the gulf coast. You might want to look at them and try them next time you are in the coastal bend of Texas.
    Happy Travels!

We have a generator. Why use a generator when you have paid for a full hook up site!

Actually, pointing out safety concerns and a lack of maintenance is NOT complaining! It is being honest and letting people who may want to go there (like my crew) know what to expect. Saying nothing never gets anything fixed. And as a viewer, I appreciate the clarity that they pointed out the issues because we won't go there and be appalled. Hopefully the county will have gotten their act together and fixed at least the electrical by the time we get there.

So the old adage: You get what you pay for. is true there on Padre Island? Premium KOA sites are expensive, and even the better sites at this park are more. So for the bare bones $25 a day spot, it is super basic and marginally poor condition? Go figure.

Not sure if you watched the video. That was our point. We would go there again. But we want to inform viewers so they will know what to expect. Which is why we gave a tour of the spots to try to choose. However, the park hasn't been updated in 40 years. The beach & boat ramp areas are immaculate. Different leaders for management & it's sad to let such a beautiful public park that's very much needed and enjoyed get like this.

Thanks for bashing Isla Blanc Park on SPI! Maybe all you Northern people will stay away and all of us who grew up around SPI can enjoy it!!

We are just letting people know the information they need in order to go there. If you notice in the title, we are recommending the park. However, the beach area & the boat ramp area are in perfect condition. The County has put forth the funds needed to maintain those parts of the park.. The county needs to invest in the great rv park so the people can enjoy it safely. It's sad to have let it get run down. As we point out in the video.

Hey, Do you a Hughes line conditioner lines just behind the pedestal surge protector but if the voltage goes up or down it'll shut it off if it's way out of whack not only that my surge protector will do the same thing if it's not you got to spend some money for surge protectors they're there's a lot out there a lot of promoted ones that aren't that great plus I'm not a fan of those lying batteries I learned a long time ago that I get battleborn I have this game changers the other ones are very good never had a problem with them does the BM that that you look at that's what you pay the extra money for is the cheaper batteries have got to be cheaper some way and I'll tell you the truth I've been doing a long time and I'm not a fan of victron they get really hot and you got to have really good ventilation or put them in air conditioning that's why they don't put them in the Prevost Liberty Coach or any of those units because they've had too many problems with them

    • @RoamingWithRosie
      @RoamingWithRosie  3 місяці тому

Had we known that the pedestal was messed up we would have gone into boondocking mode. I didn’t make sure that my inverter switched over to mains. Meaning that it was running off the pedestal. I usually check my control panel. After checking the pedestal the next day the pedestal was not grounded properly. After moving to the other site everything worked great.
      Thanks for watching!
