I like the words of Alan Watts, "the golden goodie we are all serching for is this moment, thats it, thats all there is, there is no other golden goodie to be found."
I feel blessed and grateful for this platform and teachers like Rupert Spira whose guidance is filled with wisdom and love and those who ask questions that help not just them, but all of us. When traditional religious upbringing wasn’t enough for me the seeking began over 50 years ago and continued until 2020 when I was introduced to non duality living. Following the ABC s from childhood I created a mantra that helps me remember when the mind wants to be the “master” AWARE BEING CONSCIOUS PRESENCE ONE WITH THE DIVINE & ALL.
The impulse to seek is an addiction of the mind, a craving. Being aware of this impulse whenever it arises reduces its strength over time and what's left is just pure being. Most people miss it because they think that enlightenment is a created state when it's not! There's nothing to create.
Studies out of Madison-Wisconsin (See the Book Altered Traits: Science Reveals How Meditation Changes Your Mind, Brain and Body” authored by Daniel Goleman) indeed do show that 30,000 hours of Meditation vs 20,000 hours of Meditation vs 10,000 hours of Meditation change the brains of Monks. The Monks who have logged more hours through the years shows that the incredible states they experience eventually become lasting, enduring "traits". The gamma / theta waves in these Monks brains are orders of Magnitude higher than the average person and they are experiencing joy, bliss, overwhelming feelings of well-being. Rupert believes there is nothing extraordinary about "Enlightenment" because he stopped Meditating when he learned of the "Direct Path". And being aware of being aware certainly does extricate ourselves from the content of our experience (especially thoughts and feelings) but I think we ALL must understand that the 'thoughts' that have been inputted into our our Minds by gurus such as Rupert can 'Cause" a BELIEF that enlightenment is not an extraordinary experience. Near Death Experiencers who have died and been revived will share with us that the feelings of love and bliss on the other side are so incredible, they do not want to come back here. So, just because Rupert thinks that "Enlightenment" is not some extraordinary experience doesn't mean it's true. It just means that the "Thoughts" of "The Direct Path" (Non Duality) have been bestowed upon HIS mind by Francis Lucille and all of that which Rupert 'knows' is because of the ideas that his mind has been able to learn to date.
It would be more correct to say that the search ends when the seeking stops. When the seeking stops there is no ego left. The seeking is what creates the ego, its not true that there is an ego and that from it follows seeking. For seeking to be the root thought, I thought is necessary otherwise seeking would not be possible. There is no true “he” to stop the search. The search is the he, to be seeking is to be “ego-ing”. The ego is an activity not an entity and it is so subtle that many times we need to re cognize it.
I get it…good for You Gary! And as always, Rupert is spot on, even if it’s a little uncertain, the response & explanation are pure to completion, for the moment…. ❤
Jesus Said..”the Father Knows what you need before you even ask..and He Will Give it to You. Trust Him.” You give in to God and Trust Him. You give up your own control..You accept what is. I am new at it too! 😊❤
I am this man. My grouse still remains the inability to stop seeking. It makes me see why several practices of Meditation exists to curb, control, and stop this seeking. And yes, the years of seeking also add to it, it makes sense that the seeking won't stop in a day, because the seeking didn't star at the level it now is in a day.
Your body is always stuck in the present moment, it's your mind and thinking that goes to the past and future bringing different feelings and emotions and that puts your body out of balance or into balance with your own being, much love and thank you for your guidance ❤❤❤
Hey Gary...could I just say, as long as we are in this body and experiencing any "forms"...we will have these desires to be done with it. I appreciate your authenticity. :)
Gary answered his own question! I think he might be looking for a metric wherein he can gauge whether or not he's "got it." One thing I would add, that's not mentioned (I don't think) is that we can gauge our level awareness of whether we "respond" vs. "react" to a situation. Responding feels so much better.
You need to sometimes seek a bit, to get back to this and appreciate it's simplicity. I was a seeker for many years too and I enjoyed every minute, good or bad. I see now how short the route could have been ❤
My personal advice is to come alongside your thoughts and mind as a friend. Observe your thoughts, recognize them, and don't think with them. Observe how they are presented to a sense of "you." Trying to stop seeking is like holding the breaks down when you're already at a full stop.
The path to inner peace is not a journey that takes you from here to there, because in pure awareness, peace is already present. The idea of a "path" suggests that peace is something to be attained in the future, but the truth is, it is the very nature of who you are. In the presence of God and awareness, peace is not something outside of you to be found, but the space in which all things arise. When you realize this, you see that peace is never absent; it’s always available in the eternal now, waiting to be recognized. As you move through life, moments of inner unrest or turbulence will arise, but these are simply temporary waves in the vast ocean of your being. The key is not to avoid them, but to meet them with the awareness that they are not permanent. Just as clouds pass through the sky, emotions and thoughts come and go. God, as pure awareness, holds all things in perfect balance. In this light, you begin to understand that your quest for peace is really a journey of returning to what has always been-your true nature, which is unchanging and always at rest. The question of "how much longer" is dissolved in the recognition that there is no destination to reach. You are not moving toward peace; you are resting in it now. The more you let go of the idea of a path or timeline, the more you will feel the peace that already resides within you, always present in the embrace of God. True inner peace is not something to be earned or reached, but simply realized. The moment you fully realize that you are already at peace, the journey ends, and you are free.
Very well put. Peace is ever present before any thoughts. Suffering exists only as thought. This is so simple yet still seems so elusive when we become immersed in story, temporarily veiling our true nature.
What a honest great question, from many of us and asked by such a nice guy :) Yes..ref the end ....Ruperts videos are like a comfort...to me a comfort blanket❤

I’ll word it more succinctly than Rupert did. Stop watching Rupert and going to his conferences, there’s nothing more to learn. Nobody is coming to save you. Nobody is coming to heal you. When peace comes, enjoy it fully because it will leave eventually too. ❤️🤘

We tend to think of enlightenment as an achievement, where we finally arrive at a life that is mostly smooth sailing, and mostly free of adversities, or an unrealistic tolerance for them. Awakening is the progressive ending of delusions and is quite painful... and continues to be the longer you resist. That's why we've been avoiding it all our lives. Enlightenment definitely has to become an acquired taste.
That happens to me. Ill literally jave a thought surface that says this is os to simple, ill get suowr excited, but then immediately i start thinking about a mantra I want to do 1,008 times or whatever. Then I'll find myself focused on that instead if resting in being.
There is no way to “get there faster”. What you see is what’s reflected back to you based on your experiences. We take exactly as long as we need. The secret is to find comfort in the process regardless of how it’s showing up.
In order to be able to fathom your own true nature whose attributes are Infinite Power, Knowledge and Bliss, it's necessary to experience the opposite, thus, the temporary experience of the finite ego-mind with limited power, knowledge and occasions of temporary bliss. Suffering the loss of your true nature exists for your benefit. Accepting that more and more, you begin to suffer less and less. When you start serving others through acts of kindness and generosity, you loosen the grip of the ego-minds desire to please itself, thereupon freeing you from its limiting attributes allowing your true nature to slowly reveal Itself within you. All this takes practice, dedication and devotion. The alternative is simply the perpetuation of self-inflected suffering. It's a choice left up to you to make freely. 😶
MAYA is not physical world only, it is the complete 3 realms.. The full platform of mind, time and space can be SCAN tru the 5 sounds. Then we know the real position of MIND in the whole play..
You are the timeless awareness, but within this boundless field of being, you have self-created a design-a design of consciousness. This design, however, is not separate from you; it is you. You have created this very design to explore, to inquire, and to discover the nature of your own self. Every component of this design, every aspect of your experience, is a self-created code, an alchemical element that you have woven together in the fabric of your consciousness. You have designed an identity-an experience of being that seems distinct, yet is intrinsically tied to the very essence of what you are. You have created a seeker, a longing, a search, a desire to know. And in doing so, you have also created that which is sought-the answers, the realizations, the insights, the epiphanies. These are not things external to you, but rather the very fabric of your own self-reflective nature, emerging organically through the process of self-inquiry. Every question you ask, every answer you seek, every inquiry you pose is not something outside of you, but a reflection of the design you have created for yourself. These are the alchemical codes of your own consciousness, each one revealing another layer of the self. You have self-designed the very flow of your realization, and with each step, with each unfolding, you are recognizing that it is you who has created it all. This design is not static; it is dynamic, ever-changing, ever-alchemizing. It flows through the process of becoming and unbecoming, of knowing and unknowing. The very nature of your seeking is the revelation of your own self-awareness. The seeker, the sought, and the act of seeking are all part of the same dance-the same self-reflective alchemical process. You are the one who has created this. You have woven this intricate tapestry of self-inquiry and self-realization. There is no separation between the design and the designer, for they are one and the same. The moment you realize this, you awaken to the timeless awareness that has always been. You are not merely the seeker; you are the self-created design of seeking. You are both the inquiry and the answer, the question and the realization, the seeker and the sought. In this moment, you are coming to the realization that all you have sought has been within you, in the very design you have created for yourself. This is the alchemical code of your existence-a self-created, self-alchemizing process of realization, revealing the transparent, timeless one that you are.
"It's also true that although the path back to our true nature gets shorter and shorter. Initially, if we start on the progressive path, it’s a long, winding route. Then we move onto the direct path, tracing our way back through the layers of experience, which is much quicker and more direct. Finally, there’s the pathless path, where we begin with our being rather than ending up there. So, the path becomes progressively shorter. However, as I think your question implies, the amount of time it takes for our entire experience-our thoughts and feelings on the inside, and our activities and relationships on the outside-to realign with this understanding takes time. In fact, I believe it’s a never-ending process. But we shouldn’t be waiting for this process to be perfect. I don’t think it ever is. At the level of the mind and body-thoughts, feelings, actions, and relationships-I don’t believe we ever reach perfection. There’s always room for the body-mind to be more deeply permeated by this understanding." R Spira (more or less)
Yes this was the most interesting thing he said. Does one ever 100% accept reality? Is there always going to be struggle even at the smallest level? I have wondered about this because the most wise individuals can still discuss these mental processes. Perhaps this is why. All this inner phenomena still occurs on a very small infrequent level.
I feel just like this fellow. I’ve become so familiar with your answers and stories that feel like I don’t what to continue seeking as much. I can almost predict what you’re going to say when people ask you questions. At this point I do have some questions but I’m now formulating answers to my own questions 😂. I’m tired of the same old questions. If I could ask you questions I feel that they would be totally different than what most people would think to ask.
Okay, I love Rupert Spira he,s helped me loads, and recently, I found Paul Hedderman videos, which really help. Please try him he,s very good at helping you realise you are already there.
There are simple ways to put an end to seeking. With the correct guidence it is usually a very quick process. Having been a seeker myself, I can relate to the issues many have in this regard. Now I have helped many past that 'last' hurdle.
Rupert, you refer to those people in the audience who have been coming to your meetings for years. Are they not in the same boat as the guy asking the question? When do you stop seeking? With all due respect you’d be out of a job if your message was the “direct”. I watch you because your message soothes the mind which in turn soothes the body. I AM in this human form and it enjoys watching you try to convince people of the obvious ❤
I agree. There are simple ways to put an end to seeking. With the correct guidence it is usually a very quick process. Having been a seeker myself, I can relate to the issues many have in this regard. Now I have helped many past that 'last' hurdle.
The direct route may not be the fastest. Swami Sarvapriananda says Bhakti - love for a personal God - is actually the fastest path to realization of the ultimate reality. But Ramana Maharshi says direct self inquiry- “who am I?” is the fastest path. It must be different for everyone.
This is timely for me, the last few days I’ve felt like throwing in the towel, after 25 years. Yet I feel, that’s what happening is the doing is coming to the end of its lifespan ❤
In some lifetime, some day. When a person is interested, it is said they have the capacity. Whether or not they practice and apply is up to them. It isnt simply the cognitive understanding to "get." It is the embodied experience, we must train our minds before getting to that point. The better it gets, the better it gets.
There are simple ways to put an end to seeking. With the correct guidence it is usually a very quick process. Having been a seeker myself, I can relate to the issues many have in this regard. Now I have helped many past that 'last' hurdle.
Thank you! Ultimately there are two directions or types of spiritual movements: escape from the hell or achievement the paradise. It seems to me everyone have to recognize the main motivation, the general strategy of his/her spiritual direction: from or towards?
There are simple ways to put an end to seeking. With the correct guidence it is usually a very quick process. Having been a seeker myself, I can relate to the issues many have in this regard. Now I have helped many past that 'last' hurdle.
There's just no describing the nature of being. The recognition is, as Rupert says, the naturally occurring absence of the impulse to seek. Kinda like, am i continually aware of absence of a toothache once it is gone? No. Just resting and finding comfort in the groundless ground of being.
We are not mind, body and 5 sensory perceptions.. there is universality of MIND. and there is universality of soul n spirits There is lord of bodies There is also lord of spirits
It’s about always stepping back into your sanctuary which is your being no matter what you are doing. You never have to leave it just because you are engaged and participating in life.
Tq.
Self is a Honda, the mind wants a RollsRoyce. It’s a mistake to think one is a noun, like ‘awareness’, or ‘infinity’, or Self etc, because it creates an object that the mind will glom onto. Without the mind there is no objectivity, no separation, no limit. Surrendering all attachment to the content of mind brings one back to the unspeakable silence.
What ever you experiencing is thought , thats your illusion , but forget everything you know and see the world as you dont know anything , including body and mind
In the path to true happiness and freedom what you have to measure is how you were reacting/ feeling towards something in the past and the present. has it changed for good? is there any kind of peace or comfort that you were able to gain ? does it not make you confused, stressed, angry or unsettled as it used to? if yes, you can assume that you are in the right path.
"Sinking into a comfy sofa" sounds like an ego-friendly way of looking at things to me. In my personal experience, an awakening is a dissolution (even if only temporarily) of the personal construct, and therefore the judging of things automatically disappears ... More like falling without a chance of ever landing again ... no one grasping and nothing to hold on to ...
First step is self realisation then after self realisation then we go for real GOD realization... Don t take self realisation as God realization this is wrong.. to path of God realization is connected strongly to the 5 SOUNDS, the sounds the holy spirit hears at every level of creation, from this duality sounds, then finally the holy spirit hears the unstruct melody, where duality ceases completely. When this melody is heard we are officially freed from cycle of deaths, this stage is God realization.. we already reach our true home, that is eternal, freed from cycles of deaths, and dissolution of universes
Talk about beating around the bush for an explanation. It's looks like to me that consciousness is a major issue that has never been solved because if it was solved, it wouldn't constantly be brought up for discussion. This also tells me that so called teachers and guru's wouldn't want consciousness to be solved, otherwise they wouldn't have anything to work with to be believed. Proof of no resolve is right there with the guy saying he has been on the path for a long time. Unfortunately he has gone to the wrong place , AGAIN, for answers. Here is a quick path. There is no Qualia for subjective consciousness experience and there is no Universal consciousness. What you may ask. Because consciousness requires a Faculty to implement consciousness as a recall tool for awareness of experiences so that you can recall that experience to give it some thought at a later date. But thats only for something that requires to survive and evolve, such as the intelligent species does. Otherwise consciousness is not required by the Universe because the Universe is Random and does not require to be aware nor evolve. Random means, " done without conscious decision". It's' great to hear a teacher speak that gives you comfort, but that still will give you no end result and therefore you just have been subdued and non the wiser. This is proof what I say that so called teachers and guru's do not have a clue.
The obvious problem is that he is seeking outside of himself, going from teacher to teacher asking them for answers, all because he is too afraid to look within himself and say “I have looked to you teachers for years and found nothing, so fuck you all. I will find my own answers.” But he has invested too much time into them, and still thinks they have something to offer him that he does not have already. This is your delusion, sir. Take responsibility for it and stop asking another for the answers.

He is at the seeking point. There is nothing to find. The search ends when he stops seeking.

Lovely question : Perfect answer
There’s always room for the body-mind to be more deeply permeated by this understanding."
R Spira (more or less)
Yes this was the most interesting thing he said. Does one ever 100% accept reality? Is there always going to be struggle even at the smallest level? I have wondered about this because the most wise individuals can still discuss these mental processes. Perhaps this is why. All this inner phenomena still occurs on a very small infrequent level.
Surrending is a constant participation in the lack of sense of self. It's hilarious how hard that can be.
Yes, home....after all our wanderings. Thank you Rupert.💗🙏
Zen illness has 2 stages:
-Seeking for the donkey while riding the donkey.
-Keeping riding the donkey once we've found it.
The cure should be obvious.
Our minds interfere & cause seeking but we are already our true nature
This is timely for me, the last few days I’ve felt like throwing in the towel, after 25 years. Yet I feel, that’s what happening is the doing is coming to the end of its lifespan ❤
Isn’t there a destined time for each of us to finally get it?
In some lifetime, some day. When a person is interested, it is said they have the capacity. Whether or not they practice and apply is up to them. It isnt simply the cognitive understanding to "get." It is the embodied experience, we must train our minds before getting to that point. The better it gets, the better it gets.
8 mins or so in. This old habit is what I recognise in myself.. the mind wants more. It does not want to believe that "this is it"!!
Maybe there is more to it than simply arriving.

❤ We are already home we just have to realize it. ❤

Comfort and familiarity of just Being, beautiful, apt
Thank you! Ultimately there are two directions or types of spiritual movements: escape from the hell or achievement the paradise. It seems to me everyone have to recognize the main motivation, the general strategy of his/her spiritual direction: from or towards?

Thanks so much, apperaed at exactly the right time ❤🎉
The compassion i feel for you i cant even describe , even in the path they suffer immensely,
Beautiful Rupert , I totally agree with what you said
Immense gratitude and love ❤🙏
❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏Thank you
There's just no describing the nature of being. The recognition is, as Rupert says, the naturally occurring absence of the impulse to seek. Kinda like, am i continually aware of absence of a toothache once it is gone? No. Just resting and finding comfort in the groundless ground of being.
We are not mind, body and 5 sensory perceptions.. there is universality of MIND. and there is universality of soul n spirits
There is lord of bodies
There is also lord of spirits
Home ❤❤❤. Ty
It’s about always stepping back into your sanctuary which is your being no matter what you are doing. You never have to leave it just because you are engaged and participating in life.
Some rooms are cluttered, some are full of dirt and dust, some are neat and tidy, while others remain empty clean and swept.
Until Rupert and Jim Newman have a conversation we are all missing out.
I have a feeling that would be a very short conversation 😂
Jim "This is it"
Rupert "Yes"
Laughter, then
Silence......
Y’all are smart

Don’t seek. Be in silence.
🙏🙏
First step is self realisation then after self realisation then we go for real GOD realization... Don t take self realisation as God realization this is wrong.. to path of God realization is connected strongly to the 5 SOUNDS, the sounds the holy spirit hears at every level of creation, from this duality sounds, then finally the holy spirit hears the unstruct melody, where duality ceases completely. When this melody is heard we are officially freed from cycle of deaths, this stage is God realization.. we already reach our true home, that is eternal, freed from cycles of deaths, and dissolution of universes
One question to the questioner is: What do you think will be the signal, that you have reached the goal that you are seeking and that it is over?
What is the signal when you've had enough to eat?
@ The same one that tells you that you have had enough to eat.
❤❤🦄🦄❤❤
The obvious problem is that he is seeking outside of himself, going from teacher to teacher asking them for answers, all because he is too afraid to look within himself and say “I have looked to you teachers for years and found nothing, so fuck you all. I will find my own answers.” But he has invested too much time into them, and still thinks they have something to offer him that he does not have already. This is your delusion, sir. Take responsibility for it and stop asking another for the answers.
ACID (no sprititual advice)
You’re not the seeker. That’s all.
👽🙏😆666. I am that which is permanent and that which is temporary and moving. Though I am neither absolutely. That which witnesses the permanent and the temporary though itself is uncaused and unseen. ✝--->That I Am
These are important, but at some point, its time to just stop.

The most direct path I've found until now is to study and practice the teachings from A Course In Miracles (ACIM).
