    It’s such a joy to receive healthy orchids like these for an online haul, which is not always guaranteed. Happy for you Jesse and looking forward to their blooms!

      Very true! Online ordering is pretty risky and the farther the nursery is, the higher chance for things to go wrong. I try to stay relatively local and most of the time, things look pretty good. Thanks for stopping by! 😁

    Very nice haul of Paphiopedilums and looking forward to seeing the 2 that are in spike their blooms as well as the other ones. I currently have one paph and when it needed to be repotted it divided into 2 so I put one in a self watering system and the other one I put it into a mixture of tropical mixture with perlite and small wood bark and both seem to be doing really well. The self watering one as many fans coming up everywhere and it has not bloomed at any point. The other seems to be doing well by sending out new leaves on each fan slowly. Both in my point of view seem to be not at bloom stage yet. Very slow growing. However I do like the foilage so that is a keeper for me. Enjoy your new orchids and looking forward to any updates on these orchids. Have a wonderful day.

      Paphs are known to be slower growers compared to other orchids...so it definitely takes patience to watch them grow. Luckily the foliage definitely makes it easier while waiting for the flowers 😄

      Paph Paradise is pretty awesome! This isn’t the first time I ordered from them, just the first on video. I find that dedicated paph growers have way healthier plants and more interesting varieties than general orchid nurseries. 😁

    sweet! I am into Paphs! I also watch Ed's Orchids. I have several Phrags, and I am getting some paph Roths. I have paphs Barbatum, Drury cross, and Ho Chi Mihn. I was interested when you said that Farrianum and Harrianum were "easy" or just needed lots of water (hence easy for a phrag grower). I have always been a bit afraid of Farrianum. From what I read it sounded incredibly difficult. Now I know I will get that one next because it is so cute!

    Great haul! I love the ones with mottled leaves. Initially I didn't have much success with them, but I didn't read up on the culture and let them dry a little. I will try again :)
    P.S. love your cat. How do you keep her from munching your leaves? I struggle with this!!

    • @AttainableGreen
      @AttainableGreen  3 роки тому +1

      Good luck with the paphs! They are so fun to grow once you get the hang of it. As for my cats, they only seem interested in chewing on my oncidium twinkle leaves so I have to put the plant where they don’t go. Most of the time, they like to sit next to them and it’s not a problem. Some people put a sensored air sprayer that sprays air when the cats get too close and deters them. Or I put cat grass and catnip nearby so they can chew on that instead.

    • @NicoleDeanna
      @NicoleDeanna 3 роки тому

      @@AttainableGreen thanks for the tip! It is indeed the thin leaf oncidium she likes too. Must be tasty. I'll try the cat grass!

    Hey, just wondering how your paph henryanum got on. Was it as easy as you expected? I just got one delivered and it arrived in bad shape. I'm hoping they are hardy.

      It did alright for a while. However, it got really hot and dry here this past summer and got burnt to a crisp. So I will have to try again next time.

    Hi, how do you l know if your paph hybrid is warm growing and could use a heat mat?

    • @AttainableGreen
      @AttainableGreen  3 роки тому +1

      I think most hybrids tend to be more temp tolerant so a heat mat isn’t necessary but it helps the plant grow faster and stave off root rot during the winter season. You can look up the parents of hybrids via BlueNanta OrchidRoots website and climate of parents on the Orchid Species website. Species tend to be more finicky and the warm growers from tropical areas near sea level (leucochilum, haynaldianum, hookerae) can be less tolerant to cold weather. Some multiflorals (rothschildianum, philippinense, sanderianum) grow better when temps are warmer since their native climate doesn’t get too cold. I haven’t found a chart or visualization that describes which species requires warmer temps, but generally they grow better if the root zone stays warmer. Although, cool/cold growers like armeniacum, micranthum, and other high elevation parvisepalums do not like heat mats. This is what I have in notes gathered from orchid species website and other growers...hope it helps! 😁
