I love watching your video's and learning all you have to share. I to , don't have all the fancy stuff , like green houses and temperature controlled rooms. Living in PA in the good ole USA and keeping it simple . Thanks for sharing your orchids and your experience

Hello from Kentucky, USA! 👋🏻 I have a fascination with Paphs as there are some terrestrial ones native to my state. We call them Lady’s Slippers. I once bought a very young one many years ago but sadly was unable to keep it going - wish YT was a thing back then; I might have been able to use your advise to keep it alive. I have a few Phalaenopsis I manage to keep limping along - I should probably take a lesson from this video and repot them. Thanks for such a straightforward explanation on repotting and orchid medium. (I’m a huge fan of The Horti-Culturalists)! 💚

Cool video Matthew, thank you 😊 and yes paphiopedilums are expy in Australia. They are slow growers and you are literally buying time 😅😂. You can get seedlings for $10. But it can take from 3-5 years until it’s ready to bloom. Better pay more for quick reward. Beautiful paphs and thanks for sharing 😍

She's absolutely gorgeous! Since seeing yours, I've been on the lookout for one. No luck yet, but I'll keep searching. ❤❤❤

Thanks for this perfectly timed video Matthew! Bought my first paph last week after I watched your Spring care video! I got a Paph Maudiae from Nicky's Slipper Orchids. He's South Australia based and can ship them out to the eastern states😊 I saw one of his sequential yellow paphs sell for $350 😱 needless to say, didn't buy it because I didn't want to kill it 😅

@@hexasides6411 not too sure but it was a very expensive table. I bought my paph maudiae for $58 AUD, flowering condition, so I'm not too sure what's a good average range for seedlings vs flowering paphs, etc.

Thanks for watching! I bought this from Nicky! Not for $350 I might add. It's useful to remember that a flowering sized division of a rare plant is always going to be expensive come what may. Supply and demand!

HI Matthew, I really do love your educational and humouristic weekly presentations. Recently I received a flagrant Phalaenopsis Anthura Bolgheri....seems like a new hybrid (?). Anyway when its warm, the whole flat has a beautiful perfume....and the flowers are gorgeous.

You always inspire me! Since I am a new paph grower y bravely just acquired six paphs, your guidance on media ingredients is very helpful. What about adding charcoal and ground oyster shells to the media as well? Would there be a benefit? My orchids are all grown indoors in Washington state in the USA.

Thanks for watching! Yes indeed - you can add shell grit - I usually do but forgot so you've reminded me!! Really, anything that works for you in your climate.

Never spent more than $80 on an orchid. Was a Cymbidium canaliculatum var. sparkesii. Don't think I could live with myself if I killed something over $100 😂

Hi Matthew! Check out Dr. Norman Fang’s videos regarding care of Paphiopedilums. He is an expert grower in the US and freely shares his expertise. Of course, he has greenhouses and his own products to market, but his reasons for developing the products is enlightening. I have success with my Paphs because of him! 🥰🤗👍. Oh, not to draw people away from your channel, but a definite shout out needs to also go to Ed, from Ed’s Orchids for his shared growing experiences and advice. There sure is a lot to learn.🤔🫤🫣😕🤗🤗❤️🪴🪴🪴👍

Hi there - thanks for watching - yes I've referenced Ed as the King of Paphs & Frags many a time.
