To increase the amount of vitamin B12 in your diet, eat more of foods that contain it, such as: Beef, liver, and chicken. Fish and shellfish such as trout, salmon, tuna fish, and clams. Fortified breakfast cereal. Low-fat milk, yogurt, and cheese. Eggs. Just a point about vitamin D Thomas, Vitamin D is fat soluble which means it can't be excreted through urination. If you take too much, it can cause the blood to retain calcium, leading to a condition known as hypercalcemia (excessive levels of calcium in the blood). When the urine is neon coloured it is because the body is exceeding excess vitamin B2. There are a number of reasons for vitamin B12 deficiency, diet, poor absorption in intestines, old age, pernicious anaemia, bowel surgery or even malignancy. Hope this helps.
Just to be clear nori has what's called b12 analogues which are not true b12, and if you eat too much of it it will block the way of real b12 being absorbed, look it up, nori is healthy just don't eat too much too often, I'm not keto but I respect science
I think when Thomas says "fermented black tea" he's talking about "pu'erh" tea which has a funky, eathy taste because it's actually fermented (albeit in a different way than say, kimchi or sauerkraut) by bacteria. These bacteria potentially create some vitamin B12 that would then be in the tea once steeped. He's not talking about regular "black tea" which is oxidized, but NOT fermented (common misconception, people often use the two words interchangeably). So "pu'erh" is the tea you want. Just be aware it has a bit of caffeine which can also be a diuretic and make you pee more as well, which is how we lose a lot of B12 anyway.
I looked up 5 different brands of Nori and not one of them claimed to contain vitamin B12. One of them said it had some of the B vitamins (niacin, thiamine) but no B12. They all said they contain vitamin D. Some said they contain vitamin C. No B12 in Nori - at least according to their package.
Nutritional Yeast doesn't contain B12 naturally. If your nutritional yeast contains B12, it was "fortified" with it. The fortification ingredient to look for is cyanocobalamin. This is artificial B12. Bragg's Nutritional Yeast contains synthetic B12 (cyanocobalamin).
I love those dried shiitake chips from costco. Also love the recently brought-in Banh Pia durian mung bean cakes, but they are sweet and I'm steering clear for now and will probably freeze what I have. I'm veg, and also just coming out of a long fast. Been re-feeding for the last 8 hours or so, and I think I'm gonna go grab some of the Kingdom Cheddar and moldy Cambazola for some b12 maybe. Had some of a Maitake Mushroom ceviche I made earlier during the refeeding... wonder if that provides any b12. I just read that Aloe Vera provides B12 too, which is extremely surprising to me. Considering Nori now too. Great video, thanks!!! I have tried some B12 supplements but they always seem to impact me too much, like my internal pressure increases. My whole body feels bloated with pressure or something, like it is generating something toooo much for me.
In the morning I have coffee and a scoop of peanutbutter mixed with a tablespoon of nutritional yeast. It’s not gonna kick me out of fasting or ketosis for any significant amount of time, plus the benefits are incredible. Cheap, fast, easy.
peanut butter is so delicious, it's hard not to eat it actually. But, it is a little unfortunate with the toxins produced by mold, the high omexa 6 content, the oxalate, lectins and phytates. but i still eat it because its hard not to lol!
I had a pretty terrifying experience with foot drop. Only one thing worked, and it worked FAST! It was B vitamins, but I had to them in a very, very, VERY specif manner. The results were actually overnight. B vitamins, if taken in that specific way, are indeed a miracle nerve and DNA repair...
Chantarelles man, I could eat those every day. Too bad they're so expensive since nobody has been able to reliably grow them industrially (although they'd probably be way less good for you if they were). But for those couple of months when you can just go out into the woods and pick them yourself for free, I feast! Plus, being out alone, deep in the woods, foraging for mushrooms... It provides a profound form of recovery
It would be very interesting and helpful if you made a video at Walmart and the hot sauces. Which ones you recommended and avoid. If they keto and if a drop of them kicks you out of fasting as most says 0 calories per serving (I sometimes really hungry and might put a bit in a spoon and eat to trick my brain). The ones most common are Frank’s red hot, Louisiana, Tabasco, sriracha, Buffalo, specially Mexican ones like Valentina, salsa Buffalo, cholula, San Luis. And powdered like tajin. Thanks
Every multi vitamin I've ever looked at has high levels of B12 as do many energy drinks. Given how many people have deficiencies, a small muliti vitamin is almost a given. When I took nutrition in college they had every student write down everything they ate every day and asked us to try to eat healthy. We then calculated out our RDA of vitamins and minerals at the end of the week. Not 1 student got 100% of everything on any one of the days. I personaly take a NOW Adam oil cap 3-4 times a week.
@@dontfit6380 that means its legit. its an acquired taste for sure. it kinda smells like florida swamps a little to me. seaweed doesnt smell like fish, ya silly goose.

I use eggs in everything. Cloud bread, 5 eggs. Lasts about 1 to 2 days. Devils eggs, gone in seconds. The homemade mayo has eggs. Hard boiled eggs in the fridge. Low carb cake recipe. 10 eggs. I go threw 3 dozen or more eggs a week. So many uses. Eggs are super versatile.

I definitely needed this video bcus I’ve been eating plant based Keto. Thanks again for sharing!!

Because they can't say it. There's too much of randomness with active/inactive B12 content in nori.

Good comment. I didn't know there was a fortified and unfortified. Seems unfortified has the other B vitamins, not 12
This the only nutritional yeast I use.
Purple Seaweed has the most iodine and B-12
Thanks for your work. 🙏
Could you comment on the use of methyl cobalamin and methyl-folate? Thanks for all you do!

Blood. If you're not a vampire, try liver and black pudding.
I was just talking to my wife last night about B12 and today this video came out. I have been reading that B12 may be beneficial for dry eyes.
A Omega 3 deficiency is linked to dry eyes. Cause the first layer on the eye is a lipid layer of omega 3.
Good video. Thx for the thorough information 👍
No it's not
Thank you Thomas

He is exactly right on eggs. I get local farm eggs. The best you can get IMO.
@ Thomas do u know if smoking affects insulin spikes or insulin resistance in any way?
It probably can because it increases inflammation, reduces antioxidants and upregulates the adrenals.
Puffy face Magee!!🤣🤣❤️ Thanks for all you do!!
I eat beef, eggs, cheese… and take a milligram of B12 every day. Who knows? Also I eat nori for iodine whether or not it has much.
U just gave me an awesome breakfast omelet!!!!! Thanks for the info Thomas!

Are these plant forms readily absorbable ?
Where can I find swiss cheese rich in b12? All labels I saw did not show swiss cheese with b12.

Is Nori the same seaweed paper as the one they sell at Costco in the green packs?
I think so, he did a costco haul on the Kirkland brand and it was “Thomas approved”
The ones at Costco taste like a fish slaughter house smells.
Costco ones are bomb. Aquired taste

Isn't Niacin vitamin B3?
Yes it is.

If you drink a green shake every day: add some seaweed
Yikes I don't like nori, steak, or mushrooms. Chicken, eggs, & swiss for me!
plantbased milk is fortified with B12 as well
Is that done with a milk machine or by hand? I can’t imagine the teats would be easy to get a hold of.
forified b-12. ur 100% dv is like 15% absorbable .

Maybe some Vodka
Why
It’s toxin
Heat destroys vitamin B12, the more heat the less B12. Eat fermented veggies.
