Joe paints a forest floor in perspective demonstrating the pattern of using black, then color, then white. Part of the aspen forest mural. Actual painting time was about 1 1/2 hours. All the colors are mixed on the wall to create a diverse blend of colors in the background using acrylic, water based wall paints.

I was wondering about the reference photo, too BUT I think that you're painting straight from your imagination. Someone tells you what they want basically and you put your imagination and your hands to work. WOW, certainly a true, true artist. You paint with a very realistic feel to your art. When you're standing there, in the one your video's, you really look like you are in a forest. I bet it feels like you are, too. LOL. I bet when others see it in real life, it feels like they can walk straight through the walls and into the forest. I wish I could see it in real life but I can tell that it has a realistic feel. Great work, Joe. Your work is truly amazing. Thank you so much for sharing all that you do, too. Please, keep up the good work and God Bless.

Hey Joe! Great as always, one question tho: You use reference, yes? Or are ALL of these amazing murals straight from your imagination? I've always wondered about this because you seem to understand so much about nature to give your pics a realistic feel to them, but I never see you referencing any photos or any other reference material. I guess you are just THAT good! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

Love your work Joe. I'm a muralist as well, and it seems we both favor Behr products. What's your finish of choice, flat? Eggshell? There seems to be no reflections whatsoever.

    Hi!
Can you help with some questions?
I am a illustrator and I have some clients asking me to paint their walls. I have never done painting in this type of surface and I wanted to know:
1-What kind of material is this that you are painting at? You paint first in a canvas and then transfer it to the wall. What kind of canvas is this?
2-What kind of ink do you use?
3-Do you use any finishing product? I wonder if this kind of painting lasts if you doesn't use anything..
    Thank you so much!!
