Agree. I don’t understand people paying 5-6k for a used bag with scratches and dents.. and who knows if it’s been on the floor! Just save up a bit more and buy new.
I actually got so lucky in January. Brand new condition Beige clair Jumbo from 2012 pristine condition - never used with dustbag, receipt, box and card. Under retail and verified authentic (albeit it was a 10 year old bag still). Sold my old M/L after
I agree with this! I thought I'm being snobbish for not paying thousands on scratched, used and maybe smelly pre-loved. If ever it must be in an almost new condition.
I carried my now 9500$ Chanel classic flap in Eastern Europe, and as I was told and was proved right everyone assumed it was fake. When it was not. So when I got back I sold it. It’s gotten to the point where the copies are so good people aren’t buying the real thing and like you said, even if you do have the real one- nobody will ever know crossing you on the street etc.
"Quite Luxury" is the way to go. Obvious designer items (LV, Burberry, etc.) are now a no for me. A few years back I went into a high-end department store and the SA actually teased me for wearing a fake Burberry scarf. I HAD ON A REAL ONE!!! Even SAs can't tell the difference anymore.
Wow! That SA was so rude! It's inconceivable that an SA should think they can get away with that! I hope you put her straight! I had one who was dismissive about my Celine bag that's a similar shape to the LV Alma. Except the leather is treated it's not vachetta. She was so rude because she thought mine was very dirty vachetta. No! The Celine uses treated leather and it's not dirty. I was gobsmacked.
That's so unprofessional.. Regardless of you wearing a real or fake item. I hope you reported it, cus they just keep continuing this kind of behaviour.
Any bag can be a fake bag. I know what I’m rocking and never would say I would not buy a bag because of the “fake” ones out there. That’s outta my control and I only care about me. Everything I bought is authentic and that’s all that matters to me. I do not think that most people should care if a bag is trendy or classic, just buy what makes your hear sing.
Hi. I agree & disagree. I agree with wot u say 👍🏼 | Same time, I'd say that style, fashion, image....don't exist in a vacuum. Meaning...it shouldn't happen...but humans judge by apperance...& treat the person accordingly. So even if ur dressed PURELY 😉 4 u...People will still form an opinion of u. Based on wot they see. So I'd never want 2 wear an item that there were of sooooo many fakes of. 🤚🏼It'd bother me that some1 might look @ my item on me, assume it's fake...& actually believe that fakes ARE 😉 my taste level. (😅🤨 I'm not paying £1,000+ for that dubious honour, lol.) ▪︎ I think the smart brands recognise this. So 'play' around with it. Eg: Gucci's "Guccy" bag. Or Moschino's "This is a very expensive jacket" - (Printed on the back of the jacket.)
Sophie you are spot on about the jewelry. I personally don’t like seeing my stuff everywhere. If I am going to pay big bucks I want it to be unique. I did that with my diamond bracelet and engagement wedding set. I have a wonderful jeweler who has made me beautiful pieces for a fraction but the true appraisal is three times what VA and Cartier would be.
Hello lovely Eleanor, yes I know what you mean about jewellery. For a fraction of the price you can get something bespoke with the gold/diamond value being greater than some items from the big names! Hugs xx
Many of these lux items are not seen everywhere on everyone, but due to the fact that we are interested in luxury shopping we all follow the same people on social media, thus many items become common place. I bet if you go to the mall/ store/supermarket and just sit and watch people, you would find that it’s not as common as one would think. I am a people watcher and you would be surprised.
@@melaniefields4589 Yup, i kept seeing YSL's Loulou online and got influenced to buy it, but till now I have only seen 1 other lady wore it over the past 3 years. But its good since the price of that bag has increased more than 35% since i bought it 😌
I love Cartier as a brand, but I never liked their "clou" collection, even when it started and now, even less so for the same reason Sophie mentioned. I agree with you, a good jeweler is much better because you can get a one of a kind piece
OMG same. I have designer bags but I don't think I'll go to Hermes or Chanel level. Just too expensive for what they are. I think 50% of the price is just the hype.
Hello Valerie! Ahhh they really are crazy money now, I’m so glad I bought my chanel flap in 2016 😓 I’d certainly not be paying £8k for it now ☹️ Hugs xx
You're right. A fashion industry analyst told me that no bag (unless high end reptile skin) costs more than about $700USD to make and sell. The rest is marketing. Therefore I stay to that limit and buy vintage or preloved. Or a brand that I know is comparable to LV but is just not as popular such as Coach or the Australian brand, Oroton. Way nicer too!
I just have a funny story to share …. I was at the Chanel boutique and I set my $40 purse down on the counter , someone starts shouting at the sales associate that was helping me saying that if my purse in the counter was “New season” because they were interested in buying it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I’m starting to feel most people only buy purses because it’s “Chanel” without taking a step back and really buying things for what they are actually worth.
I totally agree with you! I always take a step back before buying items and I always discover that quite a lot of the times I prefer the design of some other brands (or even non-branded ones). So, no Chanels in my collection because I realized that I don’t really like their design. I think that many people will realize that they’d rather something else if they actually take the time to consider carefully cause I can’t imagine that Chanel suits EVERYONE’s style when everyone’s so different
Well, there is one bag I want to someday, somehow buy and that is the Lady Dior bag in size medium because of its association with Lady Diana, former Princess of Wales.
Re: your Balmain story: I had a similar experience in the Cavalli boutique in Venice. In 2015 (or maybe 2016?) my husband and I were in Venice, and when we saw the Cavalli boutique, my husband thought I should go in, since so many of my party dresses were Cavallis. We started looking around. There was no one else in the store. We asked for a dressing room and were pointedly ignored. The ladies who worked there just continued chatting amongst themselves. I was dressed in a very low-key St. John Knits ivory trouser and jacket set (with matching shell), and a pretty pastel Hermes scarf around my neck to cover up any cleavage for churches (there are lots of pictures of me that day). What seemed to make me unworthy of their attention? I was in a wheelchair. Oh, well. We left, and I continued buying pretty Cavalli dresses at Saks Fifth Avenue. I have never set foot in a Cavalli boutique again, since the sight of someone in a wheelchair seems to render them invisible to Cavalli sales associates.
@@hra2290 I have always been treated well at Saks, which sells all kinds of clothes (it's not a stand-alone Cavalli boutique within Saks). So I don't mind purchasing brands I like from my personal shopper at Saks. The Venice experience left a sour taste in my mouth and I have never set foot (or wheel) in a Cavalli boutique again.
The disclaimer you give in your videos is the sweetest and most genuine. I just love how you're able to get across your points and thoughts without making anyone feel bad about their purchases. I've watched a lot of these types of videos and some are so snarky (and hilarious) but you just seem like the sweetest kindest but most honest friend sharing their opinion when asked. I just think that you're the best. I've been slowing down on luxury but I think I will always watch your videos regardless ❤ XO
This is such lovely feedback, thank you Marissa 🙏 I never want to cause offence, everyone has their personal likes and dislikes. Have a great weekend xx❤️
Yes but you don’t have to buy thinking about selling it. I bought my flap because I love it and wear it. No regrets. Thank you for sharing your view. Love your videos. I don’t really care what others if my bag is fake. I know it is authentic and that’s all matters.
No regrets for my speedy 30. It’s great to take for travel because it’s canvas. You can buy bag insert if you don’t want it to sag. I’ve heard though the corners get stiff and are more prone to being scratched and bumped (wear and tear).
Yes a speedy with the strap is on my list and just planned on getting an insert, love the bag as big enough to carry a considerable amount for say a day shopping, but I feel small enough to take to dinner if you like, I think it’s very versatile ❤️
I feel the same about the Cartier love bracelet and VCAs. I just can't justify the money for something that is so common place and knocked off now. I would love to see a video on some of your favorite jewelry pieces and where you shop!
I think it’s crazy how the prices of bags like the Alma and Classic flap are going up. Brands keep on saying how it’s due to the economy and inflation but it’s mostly due to just profit reasons. Have fun in Paris Sophie!
I completely agree with your comment that if you see something all over social media, it kind of feels like you already own it in a way (probably because you see it as much as you would if you actually owned it), & then why would you bother buying something when it feels like you already own it? There are a lot of bags I see in the boutiques & I absolutely love them, but why buy one if I can just look at pictures any time I want? Maybe it’s because trendy anything just isn’t my style, maybe it’s because I already have more than enough of my own so I’m happy to admire everyone else’s from afar. Maybe it’s because I know brands are going to come out with something just as beautiful next season (& every season after that), so why be in a hurry to purchase anything? Who knows?🤷🏼♀️
The speedy is a luggage bag, not a purse IMHO its a travel bag. I adore my speed 30 for overnight trips or quick flights for one or two nights or driving trips when I want my nicer stuff to have a spot to be packed in. Its never saggy for travel because its got clothing, jacket, makeup in it. I find it super weird people treat it like a purse when its clearly a mini travel bag more like a small duffel.
I agree. I think the Speedy, Neverfull and Neo Noe all fall into the luggage side really, the latter two being totes that work work well alongside a larger Speedy or Keepall.
My Speedy 30 is the best bag to travel with. It holds a lot of items and with a bag organizer inside it has held its shape beautifully. I considered selling mine last year but its the first designer bag I bought myself and I couldn’t let it go.
Here in the states we have a store called walmart and their website has speedy 30 style checker handbags that don't have LV logo on them and it is at a reasonable price point.
Love your Dior sweater! My opinion on Chanel Classic is I'm disappointed in the price increase but if they have a special color I would like I will buy it. I love Hermes Birkin but I do not play the game, my husband was told they would not sell me a bag because I only wanted the handbags and nothing else from the brand, which is true. Shopping should be fun, not stressful.
Yeah I love my Speedy 35, use it for travel and shopping….i have bought the organiser insert to stop sagging and saves on any stains too x i originally bought this from Louis for £525 its now £975 from Louis!! Mine looks brand new still.
I agree about the "fakes" point! I was planning to finally put my hands on YSL Loulou, however, I saw sooooo many fake Loulous during my holidays to Rome that I decided not to get this bag anymore.
My favorite bag came from Tiffany’s and Co. gorgeous leather, great packaging and wonderful shopping experience and customer service in the New York flag ship store.
Hello lovely Debra! Ooh I do love Tiffany & Co, really like their leather items and homewares too. And let’s be honest, that packaging is to die for😍 You have a great week my love!xx
I followed your advice and looked on the preloved market and got a beige Claire Chanel jumbo- my unicorn bag- for myself for Christmas and I’m so glad I made the decision to buy preloved! It looks brand new and I paid nearly half of what a new bag is. I’m so glad I didn’t force myself to save more and purchase new.
So true about some (not all) service at these boutiques is quite bad :(. Not to mention the discount codes or even better quality preloved. Thanks for sharing Sophie have a great week.
Agree with you on the speedy! I never could pull the trigger on the speedy because I always felt like I needed to get it as a “should have” in my collection, and not a “want to have”.
Hi Sophie ! I do remember your " irritating " experience at Hermès' to buy that belt . I believe it took a S.A. ages to bring it back to you and to wait on you. I also believe that an owner of a Chanel classic flap bought some 10 yrs ago must be similing and feeling lucky today due to the huge price difference .
Hello lovely Joanna! Yes that Hermes experience was frustrating, the S.A went off to help someone else after telling me he had to go and find the belt lol 😅😂😂 So glad I bought my classic flap when I did, I love that bag but wouldn’t pay the new price for it 😩 You have a great week my friend!!xx
I have Hermes BKC, VCA ring necklace earrings bracelets, but I agree with what you said, when you have seen it everywhere it stops feeling special to own them, now I turn to small individual brand for bag and my personal jeweller to have my jewel tailor made instead
I see what you’re saying about the fendigraphy vs the baguette but like you there’s something about the fendigraphy I can’t move on from! I love the idea of a structured hobo bag and I also love the size range of them
I agree with the LV Bag. I don’t want something everyone else has a fake of. I don’t want people to assume my bag is fake as well. I rather have something less common but the same quality.
I would never buy the Dior Bobby because I had a similar bag from Target. I got bored of it after 5 years and gave it away. It's just not a lasting style in my wardrobe
If you are looking for high end diamonds- Ian Gallagher in Stirling - no posh shop, but an hour in his upstairs studio is amazing. He does brilliant Facebook videos.
Agree with the Chanel story. I have 2 classic flaps that I bought a few years ago. I would never buy them today - not worth the price. I however do love my speedy b. Great casual everyday bag
I had this happen at Chanel in Paris. I tried on a dress and the (very rude) SA saw me try on my correct size, grabbed my hips and said: "See, this doesn't look nice, you need a bigger size" and out of sheer embarrassment I bought the bigger size which was falling off me. I was a UK size 10 at the time.
Well, that's on you for listening and feeling (Embarrassed). Never listen to people who try to put you down or pressure you into buying stuff. Start to stand your ground. I know when I did, I got what I wanted. If they see that they can push things on you (THEY WILL), I know I would if I was a SA. So I can't blame them for wanting that promotion, though ;)
It's so easy to say oh don't listen to them but when we are constantly bombarded with negative messages about our bodies and looks in general (in order to get us to buy "solutions") that does have an effect on us. Of course in hind sight you "should have" stood up for yourself but I think that's easier said than done for most women. I am so shocked and appalled that someone would have the audacity to say this to you much less grab your hips 😳 smh I'm so sorry that happened to you.
@@Marissathered you are so kind! Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it. After having an ED (which I wasn't fully recovered from at that time) it did hit pretty hard. However, I have come a long way since then, and I would now happily tell them to mind their business!
@@Marissathered Yeah but some women wear clothes which are skin tight, whereas having clothes lightly skimming the body is the best most flattering fit. Hard to know what was really going on there.
I’ve had my love bracelet since 1997 & still love it. I have many designer bags including Chanel. I just bought a speedy 25 & said I would never get one but I do love it. ❤
I agree with your point on the Cartier and van cleef jewelry! And I think that also about the Hermes bracelet as well. imo I’d purchase a baguette long before the new fendi bag with the hardware on the base! I think you’d get more use out of the baguette and they are classic!
I had an Epi Speedy 30 that I bought preloved and used very minimally. I sold it last month and bought a Fendi Spy instead. Can't say that I regret selling it, tbh. I also do have a Nano Speedy, however, and that I use constantly. It's more useful than I thought it would be.
i agree with you and that's why when it comes to LV, i like unique bags. I've never seen anyone else carry my Speedy 22 and holds it shape well and look lush. i steer away from the more popular easy to get bags
I have about 8 Louis Vuitton bags and love them all, I have a bag organiser in my speedy bags because it keeps the bag in shape, and I know my LVs are real …. It doesn’t matter what designer bag you have there is always a cheep copy version somewhere but at least you know the bag is real …
I love watching your videos not only because you tell the truth, but because the way you explain why you won’t buy certain items hilarious 😂. It’s like you read my mind!
The Fendi baguette would be a much better purchase. I also want to say that I appreciate that you stick to your purpose and niche when posting. I follow others who do lots of lifestyle videos. I don’t need to see your coffee or everyday life. THIS is what I’m here for and I love that you stay on point, even when others may disagree. Well done.
That’s such lovely feedback, thank you Kimberly ❤️ And thank you too for your input on the Fendi bag, I think the baguette would be a much safer buy xx
Completely agreed on all of the things you’ve mentioned. The only Hermés item I still want is the ‘H’ flat slide sandals but the price just isn’t quite worth it right now. Also, I love your lipstick in this vid; what is it, please? 💕
The Balmain story is mind-blowing because only someone in their first week on the job would get it 4 sizes wrong. Probably wanted to say 36 and said 46 instead. The difference is so visible even if someone is terrible with numbers or not familiar with French sizing. Unbelievably unprofessional but consistent with the rest of their behaviour, chatting to themselves etc. Thanks for sharing
You shouldn't have to make the qualifications about 'no offense' etc! People are over-sensitive on Social Media, I feel! Thank you for the video! Have a fabulous week!
So right! Thank you for this video! I have exactly the same opinion on these items. Especially the problem of social media that devalued luxury. And the quality is getting worse and worse! I have luxury items but i feel like wear them it’s not classy anymore! Seeing all kind of people having the same things (and may be not the nicest people / influencers) makes me feel like uuugh i better by something niche, good quality and unknown. I don’t know about hermes, i wanted to by my kelly for years but is it actually fashionable today?… it’s a big question for me. Is it worth to buy something with same social media issue? Even 10 years ago i could impress someone by having it, not sure if it has the same perception in our days. Social media helped and ruined our society. By the way the new chanel19 bag is made so cheaply inside and the leather is already scratched when they show you the item (it’s so sad, because the model is beautiful, i really like it, but to expensive for what it is). In terms of « value - quality » hermes wins.
Have to disagree on Cartier-fine jewelry is my weakness. I love my Cartier bracelets. Since you never take them off- cost per wear is way better than some of my custom jewelry items. The weight on the bracelets are substantially heavier than any custom price of jewelry I have ever seen. However, I do agree with the statement if you are buying diamonds- do not buy designer.- I would include gemstones on that list as well
Regarding Hermes: I've heard some interesting things about the 'criteria' surrounding getting a new Birkin/Kelly bag. That you can be refused a bag for all sorts of arbitrary reasons. What about someone who is a bigger size? Or they are wearing a shirt they bought at Target? What if they are disabled and they are not offered a bag? I'm kind of curious how there have never been any discrimination lawsuits...?
@@SophieShohetOfficial I have no concrete proof and any of that of course..but if a company is randomly accepting or rejecting customers buying their product… what exactly are they basing their ‘reasons’ on? 🤷🏻♀️
Maybe one day some smart hacker will leak out the whole " Hermès- marketing-criteria- to -select -the -best - customer/ profile " file on Internet. Honestly , being a Hermès sale assistant must be the most stressful job in the luxury industry .
@@joannasliwa8147 my guess would be that there isn’t one - precisely so it doesn’t get leaked. Leave it to the sales associate’s discretion so you can fire them as soon as someone makes too much noise
I’ve read on some comment boards that if you go to Hermes dressed in a certain way they may suspect you’re a reseller and that a person should wear some Hermes like a silk scarf. If your husband is with you you’re more likely to score a Birkin or Kelly’s and various random stuff. I do think it’s a funny marketing scheme that people have to prove their worthiness to score a bag.
Even at the ‘low’ resale prices the classic flaps are these days, i feel its still not worth the money, its just lower than the crazy retail prices these days.
The low Chanel price in resell market is only applicable to the Jumbo and Maxi as these are not highly sought after now .. you will never find small / medium with 50% retail price. You always ignore stating that maybe because you have the jumbo 😆😆😉😉
Ha! I love your Balmain protest even years later, that is totally what I would do as well. I bought an Hermes clic h bracelet about 5 years ago when traveling in Italy and I have worn it a ton and it has held up really well. I always hear that they get scratched up and stuff but I personally haven’t had that experience.
As Speedy is my ride or die, I will never fully agree with you because it’s an amazing bag that’s super versitile in my opinion. The sagging problem can be solved with an organizer too. But I have to say that all my speedys are limited edition. I wouldn’t buy a classic one for the fake reason, but I absolutely love my classic LV monogram speedy with my monogram on it & it never looks fake😊
My Speeedy 30 is a workhorse! I bought (fake) LV before I was able to afford the real thing, and there is a definite difference. Maybe visually they look the same, but the fakes always broke within a year. I've had my Speedy for nearly 10 years now and I will never regret it!
@@rockermystic yes the durability is the value. I agree on the fakes. Plus even of others don't know, you do know it's fake and of the criminal groups you support...not worth it. Plus the humiliation if someone discovers it's fake? uh oh!
There is a fake for every designer. It also includes jewelry, clothes and accessories. It’s much worse then you think. I believe it’s because of the ridiculous high prices. Sales people being snotty? My attitude is take a hike. But really never had that problem yet!
Some of the SA's are lovely though. I think it's how you present yourself and luck of the draw. I had a wonderful time in LV last week and it was my first time there.
Totally get what you’re saying- but even though the Jumbo Classic Flap is massively overpriced. I would still buy it new from the boutique as; 1. I don’t want to get ripped off and sent a fake bag by buying preloved and 2. When I think about the jumbo monetary wise it is not worth it, however it is worth it to me as I know I love the style so much I would wear the bag for a lifetime. So the cost doesn’t seem as steep, as it would be part of my wardrobe forever- if that makes sense! Great video 💜xx
Oh I agreeeee. I wanted to have a mini or small, medium n jumbo. Got my reissue 224 in 2011, then medium in 2014. Almost got my jumbo in 2016/2017 but didn’t. Bought it for current price brand new in 2022! Yes it’s costly but I don’t regret it! I take good care of my bags and I feel better knowing any scratch or stuff was done by me. It would still be expensive preloved and depending on all the flaws, idk if that would just bother me!
I meticulously collect vintage Chanel and the quality is superb. I wouldn’t buy new of their classic pieces. But what do you think of Vintage Chanel jewelry? Are they worth it?
I feel the same way about the Longchamps le Pliage as you do with the Speedy. While it's a great entry-level designer bag, comes in all these different sizes and colourways and it gives off that French je ne sais quoi look that I like - it's just SO. SAGGY.
Re Chanel CFs, there is an Australian brand called Marlafiji which makes something that remimds me of the classic flap but for a fraction of the price. It is quilted and has the clasp of the 2.55. The designer is a former model.
I have a speedy 30b. It was my first designer bag and I think it’s a great introductory bag! I rarely wear it now, as it’s too big but it’s a great bag to have in your collection! Regarding faking bags: every brand, every bag they make counterfeits. It’s a billionaire industry. Awful. But definitely not just for Louis Vuitton speedys
The only thing about Balmain and the discounts on the blazers is that they only apply to the ones that are colored. The black classic (not tux style) wool balmain blazers are really not discounted.
I know you didn’t mention about Rolex but I feel like Rolex plays the same game as well. I m a VIP at a certain department store in Japan. And my experience with all of there stores were amazing. So I introduced my Taiwanese friend who was looking to buy for her brother to check out the Rolex at the department store I go to. She told me her experience that day and she said no one helped and they judged them and just told them no stock whatsoever and display only. The same day I decided to go check them out to see. They brought out drinks and showed me couple pieces that I might enjoy. I didn’t realize but more and more luxury stores seem to be discriminating. I just don’t know their criteria…
This! Some of the bags are gorgeous but I do get tired of seeing the same thing. That’s why I started painting classic designs on mine. Makes them one of a kind and other people don’t have one like it.
Hello Sophie! Been refreshing my page for the latest video! I am so glad Chanel has good preloved prices. It’s of course bad right now for resellers as the resale price isn’t as high but good for the rest of us who want a classic style at a lower price. Also definitely agree with the Bobby bag. Very boring and doesn’t seem like it will hold. For the Fendi bag I prefer the baguette bag! Looks very classic! As for jewellery I love the unique pieces and think jewellery is definitely something that should be unique and individual. I loved those earrings David got for you last Christmas I believe. Thanks for the video Sophie have a great week everyone ❤️
I’m so with you on Chanel Fiqra, I love the preloved market right now, many great deals to be had!! Thank you for your thoughts on the Fendi bag btw, I really appreciate it - I’m so torn! I do think it’s a trend piece and I try to avoid trends at all cost where I can lol!😅xx
The trick to keeping the Speedy structured and not sag is to get a Speedy base. I got mine off eBay. Held its structure beautifully. I use mine for daily when I need to carry more, or for travel when I need a hand carry. I disagree that the Neo Noe and Neverful are only for travel. I carry both mine to suit the need of the day. Its not the bag, at the end of the day, its how its used and for its purpose.
Im never buying any Balmain item to support you and all the other people who were not treated respectfully. Even online I dont want to give a penny to Balmain, too many horrible stories. Love your YT videos, thanks for sharing, everytime, so genuinely!💜😘
I actually like the look of the Bobby, but I am saving for the Celine Box which is too similar, and more classic imho. The Celine has also been holding a pretty good resale value, when compared to Dior in general. When I do invest in another Dior bag, it will be a Lady Dior and nothing else!
I am glad that I am not the only one who thinks like that. I absolutely agree with you. I sometimes think that some of the brands think that wealthy people are stupid and they fool them. Some of the items really dont worth a money to spend. And the salespeople who work for these brands think of them very highly. They can easily put down others if they think those dont have much money.
Love to know your thoughts on Goyard. I love the canvas print in small items but feel that it gets a bit busy on the bigger items. That said I'd love a wee suitcase in the grey or yellow.
Hi can you please give me your honest opinion I own lots of LV bags and I want to sell them and only buy 5 or 6 designer bags from different brands. Which ones will you recommend thank you
Hey Sophie! Been a fan for a long time but this is my first time commenting, and it's a question I have for a while - what's your view on Celine? I don't see you talk about the brand much (or am I missing something?). The new design, especially the triomphe canvas line, really wins my heart! I own a triomphe canvas Boston bag, which is very similar to speedy without the sagging part. Though it has logo all over, people who are not close to fashion might not know it's a luxury brand (Celine is a relatively low-key brand, in my opinion), which also makes it a good workplace bag (when I don't have to carry my laptop)! I do recommend it if you're interested, the quality is amazing! And thank you for all your wonderful content! It's a joy to watch your video every Wed/Sunday!
Hello lovely Angela! It’s good to speak with you here ☺️ I LOVEEEE Celine! I like that they’ve brought back their triomphe logo, and there’s one bag in particular…. I don’t know the name of it but it’s a flap bag in what looks like box leather? Well, that one has my eye! Such an underrated brand, but I think they’re growing in popularity. Hugs xx
@@SophieShohetOfficial Thank you for replying me Sophie! That box bag is also on my list! It has so many gorgeous colours, the red and the green are so pretty :D
My job is to restore jewellery and other precious metals, I’d highly recommend taking your H bracelet to a jewellers and ask to have it deep cleaned and re polished, re plated if not and it will be better than brand new.
Hi Sophie- I personally am not a fan of that Fendi bag with FENDI on the bottom- but I love the baguette. I also think the Hermes Kelly Sellier in a smaller size looks like you. Maybe preloved? It would darling on you😊
Interesting video :). I think if you only buy classics then you’ll end up with a slightly boring collection with pieces that everyone has. I think fashion is about having fun. If you like that Fendi get it and if later you don’t love it anymore then sell it 🤗. Also, there are fakes of everything nowadays, who cares of what people think? If you know there are real that’s enough isn’t it? :) About Balmain, I think bad sellers are everywhere. So, don’t deprive yourself from enjoying the store experience; at the end you’re still shopping, so nobody is being “punished” with that “protest” but you. Loved the video 🥰🥰🥰
I wasn't into the Speedy 30, and now I have 2 lol. The sagging turned me off until I saw a video by a lady with an organizer and that changed it for me. Now I can toss it around and be carefree with it which is more than I can say for most of my handbags lol.
Hello Elizabeth! I can totally imagine the speedy being a very classic bag you haven’t got to be too careful with, especially in the canvas. Thank you too about the info on using a bag organiser, this is helpful to know about! You have a great week my love xxx
I'm also with you on the belief that some of these luxury items are just everywhere and it starts making those items seem so boring and like you're just checking off an item on a Luxury Buy List. I've recently come across how affordable vintage Celine canvas is and I love that you don't see it everywhere the way you do with LV.

I’m surprise the Dior Bobby bag made the list. I really like it’s shape. I’m with you though, most of these items are priced so high making them not worth it. I’ve been finding myself shop more contemporary brands and designers.
That’s the thing about being an individual who knows their style as well as their lifestyle. In this current luxury atmosphere where FOMO abounds you need to know the type of person you are. I have ALWAYS been a jewelry person so from a young girl I would always request jewelry for gifts & always loved playing in my jewelry box after school & on weekends. I have the typical “basic” Cartier & VCA bracelet which I never take off & pair with sentimental cord bracelets and crystal stones. Cost per wear for me is super low on these for me. As much as I am also a handbag person 9 handbags in I am at purse-peace. I have one Chanel bag which is a 2.55, no Hermes since I have zero interest in their items. But I have Dior, Fendi, Gucci, BV & Prada, YSL, Celine & Loweve in my collection because in terms of bags, I want variety so colors & shapes are important in my decision. So as much as designer jewelry may not be worth it so are designer handbags since you can also go to an artisan who makes quality leather bags too.
If you love chanel classic flap for such a long time just like me… I think its better to buy than to wait for price increase. I had my first chanel medium this year and I dont regret it! Will I buy another one? I would definitely get one but honestly speaking it would be much harder coz of the increasing price. Buy something that you really like not just because its influenced by someone.
Fendi has never made a better bag than the Baguette. 🥖 I like the Peekaboo and many of the new bags, but the Baguette has transcended It-Bag status and has become a tried and true classic. I think of it the same way I think of the Chanel Flap. It will always be collectible, it will always be chic, Fendi will always sell some iteration of it, and wearing it will never “date” your outfit. In fact, I reach for my vintage Baguettes more than my new designer bags. They garner so many compliments and they always make other women smile, as everyone immediately thinks of Sex and the City. If I were you - I’d look for a fabulous vintage Baguette, in pristine condition. There are so many unique ones out there (exotics, intricate beading, unusual colorways) and most of them can be had for around $1,200 or so. I purchased an embroidered + lizard Baguette from The Real Real last month! 💖
I wouldn’t ban all Balmain boutiques just from one bad experience. I actually had a great experience from the same one you had your bad experience so probably just down to the individual! I’ve also got a classic jacket half price there so worth being open to both online and in store experience.
Sophie! I agree 1000% the chanel, while quite lovely and classic, its overpriced and even in the larger size it just doesn't do it for me and if I were to get one it would definitely be pre-loved. The LV speedy 35 was one of my first luxury pre-loved purchases and I agree that while it is beautiful its so unremarkable and generic I will definitely be shopping a leather bag for my next LV purchase. Thank you for schooling everyone on jewelry! don't fall victim to brand, buy by weight and clarity
I have a pretty substantive collection and recently looked at the speedy again (more as a travel bag because it has the zipper and it’s easy) despite the fact that it has increased ridiculously since I first looked at it. However, when I went in store, my goodness it looks cheap in terms of quality! I have LV but this was not up to the standards of the rest
Never have I ever seen a pre-loved Chanel in new condition that’s less than retail. And I refuse to pay thousands for someone’s scratched bag 😬
And possibly smelly. Been there done that!
Sold my old M/L after
Same, I can’t understand it either, If I’m paying a lot of money it has to be in perfect condition, and I don’t trust resellers either
😂😂
Wtf why are the SA so snobby they are just a worker not the owner.
That's so unprofessional.. Regardless of you wearing a real or fake item. I hope you reported it, cus they just keep continuing this kind of behaviour.
Quiet?
Any bag can be a fake bag. I know what I’m rocking and never would say I would not buy a bag because of the “fake” ones out there. That’s outta my control and I only care about me. Everything I bought is authentic and that’s all that matters to me. I do not think that most people should care if a bag is trendy or classic, just buy what makes your hear sing.
I was just about to reply the exact same thing. Just buy what you like..
People buy for resale value sometimes
Being unique is the idea here…
(😅🤨 I'm not paying £1,000+ for that dubious honour, lol.)
▪︎ I think the smart brands recognise this. So 'play' around with it. Eg: Gucci's "Guccy" bag. Or Moschino's "This is a very expensive jacket" - (Printed on the back of the jacket.)
I agree.
But its good since the price of that bag has increased more than 35% since i bought it 😌
@@SophieShohetOfficial And I just came to say, the reason you feel particularly like this about jewelry, is that it's a very personal item.
I was at the Chanel boutique and I set my $40 purse down on the counter , someone starts shouting at the sales associate that was helping me saying that if my purse in the counter was “New season” because they were interested in buying it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I’m starting to feel most people only buy purses because it’s “Chanel” without taking a step back and really buying things for what they are actually worth.
This story made my day. Good taste is different from throwing money at stuff
Disgraceful of them. I'd have sent a letter to HQ and probably stopped buying his clothes.
Bbnytyhyii look
Awful that you were treated that way but can I ask why in the world would you continue to give them money after their mistreatment of you?
@@hra2290 I have always been treated well at Saks, which sells all kinds of clothes (it's not a stand-alone Cavalli boutique within Saks). So I don't mind purchasing brands I like from my personal shopper at Saks. The Venice experience left a sour taste in my mouth and I have never set foot (or wheel) in a Cavalli boutique again.
Don't generalize.
Have a great weekend xx❤️
i like your opinion of being honest and bold of the brands and not praising every luxury bag in the market, not all expensive are nice and great
Yes but you don’t have to buy thinking about selling it.
Thank you so much for sharing about the bag organiser hack Sandra!!xx
I have the speedy 25 had to get the zipper replaced on the Epi leather I barely wear it because I scratch my hand in and out
Yes a speedy with the strap is on my list and just planned on getting an insert, love the bag as big enough to carry a considerable amount for say a day shopping, but I feel small enough to take to dinner if you like, I think it’s very versatile ❤️
@@cherroberts419 It’s a classic. I have the strap too. Bought in 2017 and have a cute twilly on the handle. It’s fits a lot inside.
@@sandrar6670 i'm always surprised at what I can stuff in my 25
I feel the same about the Cartier love bracelet and VCAs.
Love your profile pic Tristan!😍xx
💯 everyone jumped on the “covid” bandwagon and raised prices.
We are in a recession now, the smartest decision would be to sell them.
There’s lots of talk of recession incoming. I feel like I need to hunker down and stay away from designer wear for a bit. 🤐
it's really the end of the world IMHO WW3 is already started, just not hot. I agree 100%, spend money on food, camping gear, etc.
I feel like a lot of people are having this mentality as i am having a hard time selling my bags 😭😭
Chanel:. Buy vintage or preloved. Less expensive AND better quality.
@@tolikfox007 yeah likewise. Things are changing...
@@gsmarkham agreed! Chanel vintage hands down the best, i have a few and they look brand new!
I agree!
How is a NeoNoe a travel bag? I have one & nothing about it says travel bag to me.
@@seagreen2034 It isn't, it actually was meant to carry bottles (of champagne).
Interesting ive never taken a look at their bags!
They have a new handbag collection dropping soon and some of the pieces are gorgeous!
@@jmax6160 awesome I’ll take a look thanks for letting us know
I followed your advice and looked on the preloved market and got a beige Claire Chanel jumbo- my unicorn bag- for myself for Christmas and I’m so glad I made the decision to buy preloved!
I never could pull the trigger on the speedy because I always felt like I needed to get it as a “should have” in my collection, and not a “want to have”.
same here!
Same. I don't like sagging bags.
@@user-od8qw7ti8k Yes, an organizer would help with that. But I all in all prefer the Alma (PM size) over the Speedy. I like very structured bags.

Yes that Hermes experience was frustrating, the S.A went off to help someone else after telling me he had to go and find the belt lol 😅😂😂
So glad I bought my classic flap when I did, I love that bag but wouldn’t pay the new price for it 😩 You have a great week my friend!!xx
If you brought a medium classic flap years ago you would definitely be smiling!
I have a speedy 30 .. it’s been 15 years and I still travel with it.
It’s a great bag thou !!
Same here 🙋🏻♀️ It’s on of my best purchases ever! You can never go wrong with speedy 30 😊
I love the idea of a structured hobo bag and I also love the size range of them
I think you would love the baguette bag. It's so easy to use. It's been around for many years. Comes in many colour and material
Omg I remember that Balmain story, that’s how I found you. God 2016, where did the time go 😯 Also pretty sure you’re my first luxury UA-camr
I am so shocked and appalled that someone would have the audacity to say this to you much less grab your hips 😳 smh
I'm so sorry that happened to you.

I love all my LV bags doesn’t matter how many cheap copies there are I know mine are real
I actually really love that Fendi bag. I love that the logo is on the bottom so it's not really in your face. Plus it's a classic color and shape.
I love watching your videos not only because you tell the truth, but because the way you explain why you won’t buy certain items hilarious 😂. It’s like you read my mind!
Same reason for the Speedy but yes I get the Speedys bec I actually love it and it fits my lifestyle. It's my workhorse and my Favorite Bag!
The Fendi baguette would be a much better purchase. I also want to say that I appreciate that you stick to your purpose and niche when posting. I follow others who do lots of lifestyle videos. A classy well grounded lady. Many thanks Sophie and have a blessed week.
I like this young lady, bcz she’s very honest and I agree with her 100%,
The Balmain story is mind-blowing because only someone in their first week on the job would get it 4 sizes wrong.
Wow, I didn’t realise - that’s awful 😮
Even at the ‘low’ resale prices the classic flaps are these days, i feel its still not worth the money, its just lower than the crazy retail prices these days.
dupes are 90% there minus logo usually
I agree ! I have my initials on the speedy and everybody looks at it because it is so special and amazing and no doubt it isn’t fake
limited additions are so much better than the classics
My Speeedy 30 is a workhorse! I bought (fake) LV before I was able to afford the real thing, and there is a definite difference. Maybe visually they look the same, but the fakes always broke within a year. I've had my Speedy for nearly 10 years now and I will never regret it!
@@rockermystic yes the durability is the value. I agree on the fakes. Plus even of others don't know, you do know it's fake and of the criminal groups you support...not worth it. Plus the humiliation if someone discovers it's fake? uh oh!

It’s much worse then you think. I believe it’s because of the ridiculous high prices.
Sales people being snotty? My attitude is take a hike.
But really never had that problem yet!
I agree on there is a fake of every designer bag out there. You can’t avoid it.
Very good points, especially about getting a fake potentially sent!xx
SAGGY.
You can get base shapers for the le pliage line :) I have one in my le pliage I take to work and it's fantastic!
Re Chanel CFs, there is an Australian brand called Marlafiji which makes something that remimds me of the classic flap but for a fraction of the price. It is quilted and has the clasp of the 2.55. The designer is a former model.
There is something about the Fendi bag it's trend but looks great! I won't get it though as that circle shape is very 90s
None pay you in the second hand full price on Chanel bag . None . Only half price! And it’s including everything ( if you’re lucky ) .
Agree on the speedy…except the nano and 20’s are just stinking cute!
The only thing about Balmain and the discounts on the blazers is that they only apply to the ones that are colored. The black classic (not tux style) wool balmain blazers are really not discounted.
You’re absolutely right about jewelry. I refuse to pay for the “name” rather than the actual quality of the previous metal/stones
Which ones will you recommend thank you
Baguette 100000% for Fendy. Much more classier, versatile, and classic.
@@angelazhang8834 the pink is exquisite!😍xx
Thanks for sharing! It was interesting. What are your thoughts on the small Caro bag? Is that something you may or would never buy?
My job is to restore jewellery and other precious metals, I’d highly recommend taking your H bracelet to a jewellers and ask to have it deep cleaned and re polished, re plated if not and it will be better than brand new.
The speedy doesn’t sag when you put in a bag insert
The speedys aren’t really my cup of tea but LV came out with the speedy 20 in monogram and it’s 100% up my alley. Maybe that would be more your style?
About Balmain, I think bad sellers are everywhere.
You have a great week my love xxx
the organizer with the speedy makes the bag so much better!
I share the same sentiments about Hermes. I don’t want to play their game
I'm also with you on the belief that some of these luxury items are just everywhere and it starts making those items seem so boring and like you're just checking off an item on a Luxury Buy List. I've recently come across how affordable vintage Celine canvas is and I love that you don't see it everywhere the way you do with LV.

I’m surprise the Dior Bobby bag made the list. I really like it’s shape. I’m with you though, most of these items are priced so high making them not worth it. I’ve been finding myself shop more contemporary brands and designers.
Couldn’t agree with you more on the Cartier love, nail collection. After 15 years of owning the love bracelet, I sold it b/c is no longer special.
I have the speedy and I totally agree. It's nice but I don't really use it. And agree re the sagging.
I wouldn’t ban all Balmain boutiques just from one bad experience. I actually had a great experience from the same one you had your bad experience so probably just down to the individual! I’ve also got a classic jacket half price there so worth being open to both online and in store experience.
This is a great point!!xx
I'll never forget that Balmain boutique and you are so right! if I have ever received bad service like that I just won't go back.
Online always now!😆xx
I have LV but this was not up to the standards of the rest
look for preloved. The new canvas is not up to standard at this point.
