Barnie Sanders actually, yeah, the assassination just gave reason for war. tensions were already high between the two countries. Either one just needed a push.
I am a Filipino so I question these: 1.What if the Philippines was never found by the Spanish? 2.What if Manuel L. Quezon agreed to the US? 3.What if the Philippines is a state?
As a Aussie with a Filipino blood, I say this should be done also.. 1. I think any other colonial powers would have colonized the Philippines. Like if the Portuguese King allowed to have Magellan to explore for Portugal.. and the Philippines is now Portuguese? 2. What agreement? 3. Filipinos in these days would have better abilities and skills in speaking English, and Philippines could be used as a strategic location for the US Pacific, in Asia, to combat the Chinese and such.
1. My best guess would be that Philippines would become a Portuguese Colony. practically Spain but not Spanish. 2. We'd probably be redeveloped faster since we are still under American care after World War II. But probably get independence at most by 1970s. 3. My first definite thought that comes to mind is that Guam would be a state too. Since Philippines is further than Guam. We'd be using the Dollar. We'd be similar to the former Mexican territories in terms of cultural background.
This video was meant to release last Friday, but there was some glitches with UA-cam that I thought would be resolved but have not. Oh well, show must go on.
Unlikely since one of the reasons to declare independence was because England didn't let Americans settle west past the borders of the colonies because France and England had a deal that France Louisiana. Another unlikely thing is for the US not to take France up on the chance to buy the Louisiana territory, by doing so, they're eventually not going to remain 13 states. Simply, the only way for the 13 states to stay the 13 states is if absolutely no one in the states are interested in expanding west or south (Florida).
The only reason we didn’t stay 13 states is because states that didn’t touch any British territory and only touched other states (Delaware, New Jersey, etc) couldn’t expand
Hawaii would be part of Delaware and Alaska would be part of Maine. There would be thirteen thick stripes covering everything to the west coast. There would have been a lot more wars between individual states/colonies.
Robert Rich the rebels are hiding in a small house, desperate for food and supplies, suddenly a load roar is heard, the rebels faces going pale. *oink* , the sound shatters the eardrums of the partisans, and knowing that they stand no chance they surrender.
+ArcticTemper France was against Napoleon and technically they did win, its more of a question if Napoleon had won the war. Just like the question would be if Germany had won WW2, its more what if the Nazi's had won WW2.
Joshua Feldhacker Nahhh, the Napoleonic Wars made the French the French, it was the war that created French nationality and the sense of unity they have until this day. The French people were certainly behind Napoleon and so the question remains. What if France had won the Napoleonic Wars?
I think this would've been a little more interesting if the alternate history was that, instead, the US traded Cuba for the Philippines, leaving the latter in the same situation that Cuba was in the original timeline. Such an event would give the US less reason to interfere in the Far East, and could greatly change the dynamic between the US and an Imperial Japan that may not see a need to attack the US in World War II, if such a thing still occurs(butterflies and all that).
Admittedly, also, it would have been politically less contentious too if the US had negotiated for Phillipino and Guamanian independence in exchange for annexing Cuba and Puerto Rico given both are next to the US. Which, would have indeed largely kept Imperial Japan from attacking since no American intrests existed in the region. Which, means the US just gets dragged into WW2 a different way and likely only has the European front to contend with. And, given our much better military, the Allies would have gotten much further into Europe than the Soviets did. Which then changes the Cold war dynamic as the Soviets just get pushed out of Europe entirely. So, the conflicts get pushed over to Asia.
Funny thing is they actually weren't. Their support was very minimal because they didn't want republican colonial revolutions spreading to their own colonies. They recognized the American revolution set a dangerous precedent ( consequently the latin American wars of independence just a few decades later would prove them right). Their support to the Americans was purely geopolitical and their only interest was to gain more territory. Which they did when the treaty of Paris gave them east Florida back.
You both right, but Spain wanted a chance to give a bad moment to britain, the usa honored Bernardo de Galvez, Galvezton and it also didn't want republican ideas to spread across his territories, but they definitely wanted to assure a balance of powers to britain, and on the way, recapturing Florida
Spain could have won the war but the cost would have been too high. Spain would have retained the overseas province of Philippines and the two Autonomous Communities of Cuba and Puerto Rico (they weren't already colonies) but Spain would have ended economically devastated. It would eventually led to the independence of Philippines (which without the United-Statesian colonization and without the Japanese genocidal war crimes) would be more Hispanic than it is today and they all would speak Spanish. Philippines also would end acquiring the Micronesia, Guam and Mariana Islands (Because legally they were part of them). Cuba and Puerto Rico might get more autonomy but eventually they'd get independent two decades later. With the war won and no money, the First Spanish Empire wouldn't have died but rather just dissolve into a Spanish state and the Second Spanish Empire (the actual colonial one which centered in Africa) wouldn't have been born and Equatorial Guinea and Spanish Sahara wouldn't exist because Spanish economy would have been way too destroyed to even look at them.
Colm Ryan We could have if the Spanish successfully landed in Cirk without being out numbered, or if the French Fleet of over 15,000 soldiers didn't get destroyed by our shit weather so they could help us.
I disagree with your suggestion about the US simply letting Cuba go. Sure decolonization was a thing, but so was the Cold War and America often alongside the colonial powers (most notably the French at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu during the First Indochina War) so they could keep their possessions, in order to prevent the spread of communism. That, alongside Cuba's strategic positioning in the Caribbean (being 90 miles from Florida as you pointed out several times) and the existence of Guantanamo Bay meant that it would remain in US hands throughout the Cold War. By the time that period of history ended, any movement for independence would have long since lost most of their steam, and Cuba would have remained a US possession into the present day with a similar status as Puerto Rico. That is if it already hasn't become a state (and Puerto Rico too, as a result) due to its closeness to the lower 48. Geopolitics, not morals, rules the day in Washington, especially at the height of the Cold War.
@@UnisRapper that depends on whether the Cubans will still want to be independent. Florida saw immense growth and immigration during that period, and there were many American interests on Cuba IRL. At that point, independence might not have economically sound.

If Mexico had not lost the most outrageous and unfair stealing and sacking to the us, Mexico would be one of the most if not the most important nations in the world, and even so, I can tell you that’s impossible because bolivar’s dream is manipulated generally, just seeking the integration of Spanish America to the British crown… and this is real, he went to London and sent a card to the king of Britain seeking said events, additionally he himself and other “libertarians” were masons which got their ideas from the matbly I think it was called which seeked the dismemberment of the Spanish empire through revolutions, this plan was called like that in honor to a Scottish general by the same name, he along Scottish elites as a whole was known for being a mason, just as Wellington was, also of Scottish origin, these 2 gave bolivar said ideas, they were also transmitted to him when bolivar was exiled to Jamaica for his pro-slavery ideals
JDB, Viewer of UA-cam no, he only did Germany, but here is my view based off of my knowledge and not American Propaganda Japan would have to win by draining American resources. So after that happens, here is what happens Japan and American tensions still run high, as Japan successfully kept Western Powers out of Asia. Japan becomes technologically superior, and keeps a tight hold on east asia. Russia still wants to work on their Soviet Union, but can never get to China or Korea, so they never become Communists, nor Vietnam. The Vietnam War and the Korean War never happens. Russia goes to war with Japan after recovering, but remember, Japan is now technologically superior, and at this point, has developed their own assault rifle, with German assistance, if Germany won as well. Japan and Russia go to war, then Germany declares war. America is still angry with Japan, since they cant make money in China anymore, and is debating to help Russia, but they don't like Russia's Communist Party. The Nuclear Bomb is also never finished because America couldn't afford it the way World War 2 went. This can go 2 ways. 1. America joins Russia America will join Russia, but still most likely is recovering from World War 2. They attack Japan, but start collapsing as the Spanish did, and start becoming a poor nation. They eventually drop out, and Russia, Japan and Germany sign a peace treaty. Germany however, will wait a few years, and then Assault Russia on their own during spring, and every one simply leaves Japan alone, maybe attacking of they want to take territory, but now Japan controls so much, and has so many people joining, no one can capture Japanese Territory. 2. America doesn't join and waits to recover America simply doesn't join and the same things happen with Russia, Japan and Germany. However, now a few years later, with Germany and Italy keeping Japan up to date. America attempts vengeance, but soon realizes, how Japan's troops are dug in for defense, and will stop fighting. Japan will eventually just be left alone, as Japan simply wanted Western Piwers out of Asia America will still make up lots of propaganda towards Japan, and still make up things like the Rape of Nanking (waiting for shitstorm) and a possible arms race may start as well, but Japan will have so many Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Filipino soldiers joining, they will be at peace and no one will want to fight them. They may become the most advanced nation ever, more advanced then they are today.
Reconstruction might have been better, but he'd have held onto to power longer, and the fact he imprisoned people without trial, destroyed printing presses was really bad. It would have set the tone for more abuses. Sadly, Wilkes Booth was right.
Risk is a game of conquering between empires. I would love to see you play a risk and create a entire timeline for it based on territory grabs and battles between territories. A risk extra long special.
***** What, don't tell me you seriously believe US propaganda lol, the USSR landed first, just never got out and went straight back home. So yeah, the 'first' man on the moon thing is true for the US, just the first ship and first one to land? No
The USSR had a habit of covering up failed space missions. They likely got to the moon first, but on reentry, the ship burned up (I think so at least).
Here's a multi part idea, what if the US had succeeded in taking Canada in either the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 and, what if War Plan Red went forward in the 1930s and how would this change World War 2?
The best part of this alternative history: Cuba would have never been ruled by the Castros, so my cuban father would have not had suffered the Castro-Communist dictatorship. Best regards...
Communist no matter where they come from are evil. The US should grant asylum to any Cuban who wishes to be an American, they know how valuable freedom truly is. Sadly too many in the US don’t seem to appreciate it.
@@556poor7 Authoritarian regimes in general tend to be evil. Fascism is essentially Communism with a Capitalist Economy and it still sucks. Striking the balance between Authoritarism and Anarchy is key, the US does that pretty nicely.
@@luisenriqueperezperez3193 Fascism is a mix of Nationalism and Socialism. For example, Hitler. He was, as we all know, _extremely_ nationalist. He did privatize a lot of stuff, but it was essentially crony capitalism, socialism but with extra steps.

7:44 not necessarily. Look at the cultural and linguistic evolution of the Philippines after it became a territory of th U.S. after the Spanish American War. The Filipinos LOVE the U.s., many things are modeled on the u.s. there, and English is widely spoken and is an official language.
What are you on? Filipinos speak mainly English because the USA illegalized it and because Spanish wasn’t such a widespread language, additionally the US army followed a doctrine to “Kill all above 13” basically ending most Spanish speakers
I am Puerto Rican and the debate is a big one a while back it was almost brought into statehood congress even planned the 51 star flag but last minute shrugged and chucked it out the window I think it should be brought into statehood because life is hard over there and crime is high and the poorer and lower classed population over there is high united states absorbing it would bring in welfare and better police and in bad cases the options of use of the FBI which would drastically reduce crime and making it a safer healthier environment to live in and it would have an important role in congress and the american government because of it's new stay and I know my views on things are a bit different because I am hispanic and our views are slightly different we are a tough wise population who needs a voice and help with crime independence would not last long such as like AHH(alternatehistoryhub) sated in the video if texas regained independence or never lost independence it would simply fall back to america which would cause tension @AlternateHistoryHub this is what I think would happen with puerto rico or what I think should happen
Matt Edward look man that sounds nice but I feel like in order to have Puerto Rico to become a state it would need to actually make a profit and also are you expecting the mainland USA being very happy about poring millions into there new state just so it can make mediocre amounts of cash and also I don't think it's ever going to make money if mass welfare is instructed there I'm sorry as much as it sucks adding Puerto Rico as a state would be like adding another Chicago with the same crime and poverty rates except without all the income it just isn't very practical.
The US isn't a charity, the US should only allow PR to become a state, if PR can offer the US something. PR is a bankrupt, corrupted country, with shit infrastructure. It's a shit hole. The US gov tried to help PR with the aftermath of a Hurricane Irma, but the leaders just accused the US of not doing shit, and their leaders just bad mouthed the US' leadership. When in fact, it was their own fault, and their shitty infrastructure. If anything, we should just cut them loose, and give them independence, and revoke citizenship from everyone who remains on the island. They voted for their leadership, if the leadership is bad, then too bad.
mrbisshie “but the leaders accused the US of doing nothing” That’s because Trump did exactly that about Irma: nothing. Also, Puerto Rico doesn’t get to vote in US presidential elections. So no, they don’t vote for their federal leadership.
France would be the most powerful nation in Europe today. Britain and Russia would be the main rivals. Instead of a revolution, France would most likely see evolution, like most other countries did. Since there won't be Napoleonic wars, Latin America might remain under Spanish or Portuguese administration, at least for quite some time.
+George Severn Actually there would likely be no wave of Liberalism. It was the traction from the revolution that lead to that evolution due to inspiring the intellectuals and peasants as well as terrifying many tyrants. We'd likely still have a few absolute monarchies in Europe to this day.
I'd imagine it'd be similar to how Puerto Rico is now, but a closer dynamic. There's already a huge Cuban presence in Florida, and a considerable amount outside the state, and in this scenario it would be even bigger.

+Salokin Sekwah I don't think he could have but if he did I think Rome wouldn't have recovered. He would have made a personal empire in Italy to expand his families in Iberia. It would be closely allied to old Carthage but would have some independence. It's hard to say what Hannibal would do once he beat Rome, it had basically been his life's goal and I'd guess he'd feel a bit lost and for a few years focusing on hunting down Roman's who fled the destruction of Rome, cementing his control over the peninsular and taking over any Roman allies cities in Iberia. He probably wouldn't head into Gaul much seeing as many tribes there were his allies but he might have played with the idea of doing a joint campaign with his allies in Greece and Macedonia or maybe head further East and make colonies in the middle east and further along the coast into North Africa. Much of his army was mercenaries and Gaul who would probably go home after Rome was beaten so I think he'd have to wait a decade or so before doing anything major but once he was ready he'd definitely be a powerful leader in the Mediterranean.
+Gareth Brooks-Martin How he could have done it is actually not that big of an impossibility. All that is needed to have happened is him not losing most of his army in the Alps.
+Salokin Sekwah That would be extremely hard to do in his situation since his army was insufficient to even encircle the capital. The Chartaginian fleet was outnumbered and couldn't have blocaded the port therefore a siege of Rome was pretty much impossible. If he somehow did however assault successfully, Carthage would win the war and the world would be a *much* different place without the Roman culture.
+Mykomatos As a lover of the Migration Era, that would be an amazing video.... I would pay money to watch that, maybe just a dollar, but a dollar none the less.... Do you know how how much that would have changed the ethnic make up of Europe on top of history?? Groups such as the Goths may have never settled in Spain, the Franks may have never migrated to Gaul and established France. The Vandals probably never would have established a kingdom in North Africa. Just so many possibilities.... The Huns pushed so many tribes West, it totally changed Western Europe from being predominately Celtic/Roman into being much more Germanic.
And his brother is now President, the Cuban exiles have failed completely. Having multiple leaders under the same government only strengthens their dominance and weakens any chance of an uprising.
There are 103.5 million people in the Philippines which would raise the American population from 324,100,000 to 427,600,000 million which is still 3rd if I mean if The Philippines was a state
The US will be investing lots of money in the Philippines since it was so close to Communist China and Vietnam if the COld War still happened which would make the Philippines more developed than it is today, maybe like Hawaii. Corruption will still exists off course made worse by lobbying and the two party system but hey atleast we have the 2nd Amendment and Popeyes
So, if America annexed Cuba, the island nation would have been way off better today than it actually is? Like you said it would have probably brought civil rights down into the country, Castro wouldn't come to power, thousands more of people would be alive and the USSR wouldn't have Cuba to place nuclear missiles on during the Cuban missile crisus. So imperialism/colonialism isn't necessarily bad as people think.
There is a racial equality movement in Cuba promoted by the government. And Cuba was far better off than Puerto Rico while the USSR was around and to this day still is in some ways. Their superior health system leads to way better treatment and less babies dying compared to US territories and the US proper as well as a higher life expectancy so perhaps there would be less people.
I suggest reading Guerra contra todos los puertorriqueños by Denis Nelson. This book provides a great view as to what has happened between USA and Puerto Rico.
Cuba should have been made a Commonwealth (territory) of the United States after the war, just like the other territories. All of those folks became American citizens with US courts and laws. And, by the way, the Commonwealth of the Philippine Islands did NOT win it's independence from the United States after WWII. Independence was granted by law passed by Congress before the war, but the process was delayed by the war. Great video, as always. Please keep the outstanding videos coming and God bless you, my friend!
The Philippines didn't win their independence. It was given to them. It was always the American intention to give independence to PI. It was a question of how to give them their independence without the country descending into a balkanized quagmire.
@@chesterlloyddoliente4649 true however, after the long war Americans admired the Filipino bravery during the 2nd world war and suggested Filipino independence peacefully with full US support, something very different 50 years after the 1st Philippines declaration of independence. Even now, The Phillipines and America have great relationship both politically(somewhat) and militarily.
i like to imagine that if the US annexed Cuba, it would become a state and the US will eventually be not only the mainland US, but also a lot of islands making up more and more states, like the philippines, cuba, puerto rico, hawaii, and more

I don't think a whole lot would happen other than the Spanish would keep their Territories. +ZUMBI Desempregado Holy shit. I didn't know that happened. But I don't think such an empire would last long, since it was a bunch of separated regions, therefore, hard to coordinate. Even it it survives wars, the regions would get independance anyways. Though Portugal and Spain might remain united in one large country for a longer time until falling apart - if Spain has regions wanting independance right now, imagine the combined nation.
The vikings discovered America. The British had an empire. If they didn't, why would they call it the "British Empire"? An Empire is a way of government that has an emporer or king, and that they conquer lots of land. The Spanish, at it's height in 1810, was only about 9% of the world, while the British Empire, at its height in 1920, cover around 24%. And does it even matter that Spain was once strong? Spain is an absolute shithole right now.

There was no need to use the term "White Hispanics" in this video...."White Cubans" would have been a better term to use while differentiating between Black Cubans. Just to inform you Cubans hate the terms Hispanic/Latino & almost NEVER use those words to refer to themselves...ONLY non Latin Americans use the words Hispanic/Latino most of the time. The terms Hispanic/Latino should stop being used completely in the USA because it confuses most Americans into thinking there is a race called Hispanic which is separate from "White" when in reality Spanish people from Spain are White while descendants of Spain in Latin America are White as well
+Coolchannels4you I feel like not much would be different from our timeline, except that there wouldn't be a racial superiority complex and/or slavery would have been different or nonexistent. It would be interesting to hear Cody's take on it, though
+Alex castwell Not much, he most likely would have been defeated by the Austrians or Russians later. He would have needed to defeat Russia in 1812 or build a fleet capable of rivaling the British and invade England to win the War.
+Alex castwell If he beat the combined British-Prussian force, a lot depends upon how decisive the victory was. Merely routing them from the field wasn't enough. He had to crush them sufficiently such that they were no longer a threat any time soon. Let's say that happens. He then faces a combined Austrian-Russian force. That might seem like it would be too much, but remember that he had rather good luck fighting the Austrians and the Russians did not have a good road record, I'll put it that way. If he could delay the combined Austrian-Russian force until his army was finished licking it wounds and been further reinforced (French soldiers were joining his ranks ranks in increasing numbers ever since his return), he could have beaten the Austrian-Russian force as well. What would likely follow would be a negotiated settlement, where France would get back some of the territory it lost in 1814, but Napoleon's empire would still have been effectively dissolved. Whether the Nap would have been happy ruling a smaller piece of Europe is an open question, but if he could, he still have had to dealt with German nationalism lead by a hostile Prussia, and a hostile Britain. The former could been resolved by closer ties with Austria (thus no Prussian Zollverein), the latter would have been far more problematic. Ultimately World War I, assuming it happens "on schedule" some 100 years later may have featured France, Italy, Turkey, and Germany (including Austria) against Britain, Prussia (essentially northern Germany), and Russia. The U.S. may have stayed out of the war entirely, or feeling the pinch of the Royal Navy on its trade ties in Europe, eventually went to war with Britain. U.S. invades Canada, and we get a nice rematch of the War of 1812, with modern weapons.

Simply, the only way for the 13 states to stay the 13 states is if absolutely no one in the states are interested in expanding west or south (Florida).
Kalvin Castro shut. up. nerd.
Tipperary then America would be a weak, minor power
The only reason we didn’t stay 13 states is because states that didn’t touch any British territory and only touched other states (Delaware, New Jersey, etc) couldn’t expand
Hawaii would be part of Delaware and Alaska would be part of Maine. There would be thirteen thick stripes covering everything to the west coast. There would have been a lot more wars between individual states/colonies.

"What if France won the Napoleonic Wars?"
ArcticTemper Yeah I guess thats true.
This one would be interisting.

The funny thing is: Spain was absolutely instrumental and deffinitive in US independence.
France helped america WAY more hell you could even say germany helped more since a German trained alot of American soldiers how to fight

@@cloroxbleachjr3047 that makes no sense
@@gerardthompson3851 if it was they wouldn't have lost dumb

But the US let go of the philipines too during the cold war and it was also in a very important location and was near communist china
@@UnisRapper Yes, it is also very far away from the US, unlike Cuba.
@@Geofiendlux i think the US will just let Cuba go but just keep tabs on it to make sure its not communist. like they did with japan.
@@UnisRapper that depends on whether the Cubans will still want to be independent. Florida saw immense growth and immigration during that period, and there were many American interests on Cuba IRL. At that point, independence might not have economically sound.

What if Japan won the Second World War?
The Axis would have won?
Mark AndroidReviewComicBooks Zschiegner II impossible. Americans reck and Soviet could clean up if we get tired
JDB, Viewer of UA-cam no, he only did Germany, but here is my view based off of my knowledge and not American Propaganda
Japan would have to win by draining American resources. So after that happens, here is what happens
Japan and American tensions still run high, as Japan successfully kept Western Powers out of Asia.
1. America joins Russia
America will join Russia, but still most likely is recovering from World War 2.
2. America doesn't join and waits to recover
America simply doesn't join and the same things happen with Russia, Japan and Germany.
However, now a few years later, with Germany and Italy keeping Japan up to date. America attempts vengeance, but soon realizes, how Japan's troops are dug in for defense, and will stop fighting. Japan will eventually just be left alone, as Japan simply wanted Western Piwers out of Asia
America will still make up lots of propaganda towards Japan, and still make up things like the Rape of Nanking (waiting for shitstorm) and a possible arms race may start as well, but Japan will have so many Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Filipino soldiers joining, they will be at peace and no one will want to fight them. They may become the most advanced nation ever, more advanced then they are today.

The US isn't a charity, the US should only allow PR to become a state, if PR can offer the US something.
PR is a bankrupt, corrupted country, with shit infrastructure. It's a shit hole. When in fact, it was their own fault, and their shitty infrastructure.
If anything, we should just cut them loose, and give them independence, and revoke citizenship from everyone who remains on the island. They voted for their leadership, if the leadership is bad, then too bad.

What if the Bourbons dynasty had not been overthrown during the French Revolution?
France would be the most powerful nation in Europe today. Britain and Russia would be the main rivals.
Instead of a revolution, France would most likely see evolution, like most other countries did.
Since there won't be Napoleonic wars, Latin America might remain under Spanish or Portuguese administration, at least for quite some time.
+George Severn also maybe no Louisiana Purchase, so France would still own parts of North America
+George Severn Actually there would likely be no wave of Liberalism. It was the traction from the revolution that lead to that evolution due to inspiring the intellectuals and peasants as well as terrifying many tyrants. We'd likely still have a few absolute monarchies in Europe to this day.

HAHAH EXACTLY. VERY GOOD POINT.
You should totally make an updated version of this.
I'd imagine it'd be similar to how Puerto Rico is now, but a closer dynamic. There's already a huge Cuban presence in Florida, and a considerable amount outside the state, and in this scenario it would be even bigger.
Puerto Rico and Cuba would essentially be sister states, I mean their flags are literally the same just inverted colors.
So basically, Cubans would be abused just as Puerto Ricans and Spanish industries and railways would be razed further, yes?

What if Hannibal sacked Rome?
+Salokin Sekwah
That would be extremely hard to do in his situation since his army was insufficient to even encircle the capital. The Chartaginian fleet was outnumbered and couldn't have blocaded the port therefore a siege of Rome was pretty much impossible.
If he somehow did however assault successfully, Carthage would win the war and the world would be a *much* different place without the Roman culture.

So imperialism/colonialism isn't necessarily bad as people think.
yippyyippy yoyo that's pretty hypocritical but then again America doesn't even follow common sense and create their won laws
What did I say that was hypocritical?
There is a racial equality movement in Cuba promoted by the government. And Cuba was far better off than Puerto Rico while the USSR was around and to this day still is in some ways. Their superior health system leads to way better treatment and less babies dying compared to US territories and the US proper as well as a higher life expectancy so perhaps there would be less people.
Love dis dudes videos!
Anything that the U.S would had done if Cuba was annexed would had been better that anything that Castro did, imagine the possibilities
0:53 as a Filipino, the Revolutionary front are The KKK katipunan (NTBC of kul klux Klan) because they started in 1896 to gain independence from Spain
What if John III Sobieski, who was King of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, would not come to Vienna in 1683?
PLEASE SUPPORT
The Philippines didn't win their independence. It was given to them. It was always the American intention to give independence to PI. It was a question of how to give them their independence without the country descending into a balkanized quagmire.
And quagmire it became
@@chesterlloyddoliente4649 true however, after the long war Americans admired the Filipino bravery during the 2nd world war and suggested Filipino independence peacefully with full US support, something very different 50 years after the 1st Philippines declaration of independence. Even now, The Phillipines and America have great relationship both politically(somewhat) and militarily.
Please do What if Spain won the Spanish-American war
'Cuba has been annexed'
Years later: Cuban missile crisis has been cancelled
i like to imagine that if the US annexed Cuba, it would become a state and the US will eventually be not only the mainland US, but also a lot of islands making up more and more states, like the philippines, cuba, puerto rico, hawaii, and more
As a Cuban. I would have actually preferred this over communism. I could visit my family and even live in my native soil. 😢.
What if the Mormon Church had successfully created their nation of "Deseret" in Utah, and the United States doesn't intervene in this alternate timeline?
He said Mormons, not Irish Catholics
As a spaniard myself, what if the spanish empire won the spanish american war? Would spain annex us territories or maybe even take back florida? Would the colonists still be fighting or would the government give the colonists the same rights as spaniards? Would the colonies also take apart in the spanish civil war?
Thanks and greetings from valencia,spain🇪🇸
I don't think a whole lot would happen other than the Spanish would keep their Territories. The Spanish army was about the same as the Americans at the time it was the u.s navy that won the war so their is no way a Spanish invasion could happen justifying them taking a state or even american teritories.
Wow, that is incredibly interesting. Hope to see it soon. Greetings from Iowa, USA
20 million dollars back then is worth around $614,640,000 in today's money.
Imagine a timeline where Spain keeps the Phillippines therefore is attacked by Japan and brought into WW2
What if Dom Pedro I, accepetd the Crown of Portugal,Spain,Greece and Bolivia? How Would the Brazil today?

+ZUMBI Desempregado Holy shit. I didn't know that happened. But I don't think such an empire would last long, since it was a bunch of separated regions, therefore, hard to coordinate. Even it it survives wars, the regions would get independance anyways. Though Portugal and Spain might remain united in one large country for a longer time until falling apart - if Spain has regions wanting independance right now, imagine the combined nation.
Then Castro wouldnt be able to build his ice cream shop :(
Spain 🇪🇸: "We'll give you 2 out of 7100 Filipino Islands."
America 🇺🇸: "Uh, bitch WHAT?!"

Spanish did not have the world's biggest empire. Ever. Britain, mongol, Roman, a lot of empires were FAR FAR bigger.
Im not even British...
I'm american
All of this started over a comment meant to be a joke.
I would much prefer this timeline than to ours.
Also, EU4 brought out the imperialist in me.
This is kind of nitpicky, but in the illustration, the Spanish representative is saying "If" (Si), not "Yes" (Sí).
hey, youshould do a video on what if the French won the Franco-Prussian war or What if the Austrians won the Austro-PrussianWar. Just a suggestion! Great videos as always!
The terms Hispanic/Latino should stop being used completely in the USA because it confuses most Americans into thinking
there is a race called Hispanic
which is separate from "White" when in reality Spanish people from Spain are White while descendants of Spain in Latin America are White as well
Many hispanic americans call themselves latino. It's not only non latin americans who use the term.
Geoffrey Straw It feels offended so it pulls facts out of it's ass.
Good to know.
But most people from South America and Central America + Mexico have at least 40% native blood in them which is quite a lot.
Nobody cares that you're offended. Get over it. It's just a word
What if humans never evolved different skin colours? In other words, what if everyone was black throughout history?
+Jarrett Wattenburger We would be just like the tribes in the middle of Africa.
+Coolchannels4you I feel like not much would be different from our timeline, except that there wouldn't be a racial superiority complex and/or slavery would have been different or nonexistent. It would be interesting to hear Cody's take on it, though
+Sentient tomatoes This is true. Oh well there goes my idea.
Jarrett Wattenburger Also to answer your question, I suppose that would mean we never migrated from Africa.
+Sentient tomatoes No, the way I thought of it was we migrated like we did in our timeline, but just never evolved different skin tones.
what if Napoleon won the battle of Waterloo?
**just a suggestion**
+Alex castwell Not much, he most likely would have been defeated by the Austrians or Russians later. He would have needed to defeat Russia in 1812 or build a fleet capable of rivaling the British and invade England to win the War.
+Alex castwell He would have just defeated one of the armies operating against him out of the coalition of most of the european nations.
Agree with most of your hypothetical until the end with British US war.
6:30 Castro might have become a professional baseball player or a politician.
"Its racial diversity would never allow it to become a state"
Um excuse me sir...have .-.you never heard of Texas, New Mexico, or Louisiana? Ya know three highly diverse states? No? Well that explains alot
Hey do you remember how those states either went through either ethnic cleansing or immediately putted every non white under a white owned business
@Nou how Lmao
Well they could have made the same with Cuba then
did you know that at the time of statehood;
New Mexico and Texas were sparsely populated and most had a majority European population
This is a no-brainer for Louisiana as well. They all spoke english, they all came from europe most of them. I hope you knew that in your uhh 7TH GRADE SOCIAL STUDIES CLASS.
@@nouhowlmao2809 you really don't know for sure since you haven't lived in that time period
@@VinceSlzr I recommend you do your research. Texas was almost non white at its conception, being almost entirely hispanic, black, and Native American. Texas revolution was basically a Mexican civil war. Hispanics fighting Hispanics. And no they were not “sparsely populated”, at least not by the standards of the time, having about 125,000 people and Houston quickly becoming one of the most populated cities in America.
Texans and New Mexicans were mostly Spanish speaking, news flash you smart aleck, Spanish IS A EUROPEAN LANGUAGE. So is French, German, and Russian. All languages heavily spoken in Louisiana, but mostly French, as Louisiana was purchased from France. Lol good job, you’ve proven to everyone here that you’re a fool.
What if the US never conquered the Philippines and gives it the same treatment as Cuba? Making it sovereign under American influence, what affect would it have to the Philippines and the rest of Asia?
Hah, Puerto Rico becoming a state is like waiting for Half Life 3 to come out.
Nifty video. Im a bit surprised the possibilities stayed so tame in this one haha. Jesus Christ be with you friends.😊
