Transphasic torpedoes have always been a last resort for Starfleet. If they were used it would be an last ditch effort to save the core systems of federation because the Borg could adapt quickly to the technology.
8:32 It's blurry from its own motion and the motion of the camera, but yes, the Falcon was at the Battle of Sector 001. Even more hilariously, if you ever read the Star Trek Vanguard novels, the Falcon (or at least, a small teardrop-shaped transport with a side-mounted command pod) makes an appearance there, as well.
There wouldn't be Akiras at Wolf 359. It's a post Wolf 359 ship. Even if it wasn't, the fact that the ship is armed with Quantum Torpedoes a weapon that IS post Wolf 359, means that it shouldn't be used. Now for the battle itself. Sending a ship back to stop the massacre at Wolf 359, likely dooms the Federation. As much as its a disastrous defeat, the lessons learned, helped them fight the Borg when they returned and likely contributed towards the Dominion War victory. It may be conjecture, but it's conjecture based on the facts.
9:58 it's a good job you requested help from the future. Clicking "distress call" would just send a pack of Ferengi. And you know they'd just sell you out.
@@Leondrius the aliens from ID4 if you count the sequel are pretty impressive. in the first movie their scout ship is already 1/4 the mass of the moon with loads of those city ships that are like 15 miles in diameter. in the second movie the mother ship is around the same size as the moon or 1/6 of earth and can create their own wormholes for their ftl.

@@cosmeticscameo8277 Borg ships are semi-organic. They have the ability to repair themselves. Even if they sustain heavy damage, they can recover. The Borg can also beam aboard the mothership, assimilate the queen or whoever, and take full control of their ship, essentially turning their ship into a Borg vessel. I don't see it going well for the ID4 aliens in any scenario.
UA-cam just brought me back to this... I forgot how old it was. However, the J and cube pretty much fought to a stalemate. The cube can regenerate, and the J has amazing shields. I agree with another comment... why weren't transphasic torpedoes made standard issue... or a spinal phaser lance? 😄
If it makes sense most of these mods are not usually designed to be scaled to actual strength of their era in terms of weapons. So most future ship mods with the exception of a few ones are more equivalent to older era ships.
The J doesn't strike me as a pizza cutter at all. Looks More like the thing used to get bread out of the old stone ovens from the medieval era. That honor goes to the STD ship Discovery.
So If you haven't been able to figure it out yet; I can tell you now that this battle made it clear on what those flashing blue torpedoes are. They are shield eaters. That's what took the shields down on the cube's 3 sides. The longer the target remains in the flash zone, the more shield it eats up. How this can be effective on any vessel smaller than the enterprise J, i have no idea.
You can see R2-D2 in Star Trek Into Darkness. Right when the Vengeance first attacks the Enterprise and the first hull breach happened, if you pause it just right you see R2 fly out of the exposed hull along with crew members. For this had the Enterprise-J actually went back and helped with Wolf 359 I would imagine that the battle would have been over in about 2 minutes flat, maybe less than that. Considering the technological gap difference of a Borg ship from the 24th Century and the Enterprise-J from the 29th(?) Century.
14:14 i'd doubt this ship would pass as having survived. Half the ship was literally blown off and the inside is not probably fine either. Because it has not exploded just yet, we must assume that the warp core is still in one piece, but is probably damaged and will explode in 3... 2... 1...
Borg cubes don't explode, unless they are hit by species 8472 bio weapons. The reason the one exploded in 359, was because they overloaded the repair system.
I expected better from the Enterprise J, being from the 31st century (700 years)? I always felt that a BORG cube should travel and fight point on versus face on to bring additional weaponry to bare on a single or multiple targets.
That was a battle... jeepers... That Borg Cube is a tough nut to crack... Well done Captain.. I paused and went to see what you said about the Millennium Falcon and R2-D2.. yes there where in the shots... I never even thought that wow... Well, so must mean the Galaxy is NOT SO FAR AWAY then... Just saying..! Now just have to swap the warp core for Hyperdrive since it is 50 000 times faster than warp.... hmmmm!!
The Excelsior survived? Its floating there with no nacelles, missing part of her saucer section but "salvageable" If I remember correctly due to the effects of the temperol portal both the Sphere and E had no sheilds, so that added to possible damaged inflicted during the battle did probably weaken it considerably
It's a shame these ships don't have rotatable torpedo turrets, or broadside torpedo tubes. Also, how big are the torpedoes of the J? Considering the size of the ships, the torpedoes look bigger than the Defiant class!
On the one side, the Enterprise-J didn't help much. On the other, the assimilated Picard was killed. The future the Enterprise-J came from was wiped out.
Also yes the millennium falcon was in first contact the digital artist at lucasfilm put it in as a bit of an in-joke and they never removed it. R2D2 is ok star Trek 09 when the Enterprise drops out of warp in the remains of the fleet sent to Vulcan you see him drift past the view screen in the corner it's a blink and you miss it scend
Am I the only one wondering how much structural integrity is required to help hold the outer saucer section together when turning quickly, to counter centrifugal forces? That ship is enormous. That is to say nothing about the humans or objects inside!
Great shields on the J Enterprise but otherwise I think its designed as a peaceful Galaxy crossing ship so thats why its weapons are not super powerful even do they are Powerful and I think the Borg would have won here if it was real as if 1 Cube could not do it they would send more just to get the tech from the J. I think this battle would have the Queens attention do and she would have the whole Borg collective to use to come up with a method of talking down the Js shields and disabling them so that they could beam on assimilate them all and get all that tech.
you would think the enterprise J would have had some kind of significantly improved torpedoes like interspacial or something stronger than quantum torpedoes.
Someone botched the job completely. The J should one shot a cube. They would have had borg technology (from voyager an 7 of 9) from that era for centuries. The J should fart some exhaust gases on a cube and destroy it.
In my opinion, Star Trek bridge Commander is one of the best PC games ever made. I've been playing it for over a decade. I don't know, maybe somebody has, but if not, somebody needs to model the UNSC and Covenant ships from the Halo Universe. That would be awesome.

Come on Borg.
You know that crash could be fixed by using Large Address Aware, there is a tool you can use to modify a target exe to use more than 4gb of memory.
If they can create artifiical gravity on a massive scale , they can create gravity based weapons. Good luck adapting to a barrage of singularities.
