Because motion pictures have a wider aspect ratio than the old NTSC TVs, the art department widened the angle between the nacelle struts so Emterprise would properly fill the frame. The modern SNW version has shifted even more, with a shorter "neck." Abrams, despite working in a feature, narrowed the strut angle. I guess it's a good thing the Abrams Enterprise didn't have her Into Darkness modification with the broadside torpedo launchers, port and starboard, or the fight might have been very different.
Abrams Enterprise was a lot bigger than the proper one, but the proper one also had phaser cannons, not beams after the refit, so she should have taken down JJ-prise a lot faster :)
JJPrise also has a different time line design Process. The original is designed a multi purpose cruiser star ship. The original had exploration as a top priority. JJprise is a warship. It's built to defend against a mining ship from the future. Exploration is a side hustle for it.

Don't want to be that guy, but this is not the the Enterprise A. The refit 1701 was in Startrek 1, 2 and 3. The A was in 4, 5 and 6. ;) Being that guy even further, despite the registry number, it does have the A bridge, from Star Trek 6. Sheesh. Off the top of my head, I can't remember if there are actually any visible external differences, between the original and the Alpha, bar the registry number.
Your Enterprise-A is very, very wrong: not just the phasers. We know the A can fire more torpedoes than that at once, and it should have a cluster of phasers on the secondary hull.
Gene Roddenberry didn't design the original Enterprise, Matt Jefferies did. Roddenberry just gave him some very basic guidelines (don't make it look like a rocket ship, I don't want to see flames coming out of the back).
If you watch star trek 2 wrath of Khan...the Enterprise A actually has rapid firing alternating phaser pulses. As seen in that film..so.in this battle the Enterprise A is not using the correct phasers..

The jjprise was inspired by the kelvin's encounter with the narada, which was modified with Borg tech. It's to be expected that the combat capabilities tech wise of the ship built to fight post next generation era Borg tech would be more powerful than a ship designed without that experience in mind.
Thanks for that information. I just looked it up and one of the writers said the Kelvin scanned the narada, so they were able to incorporate some of the technology. Fascinating!

He didn't have any input into it.

The existence of a ship as powerful as the narada made starfleet rethink their ships and made the constitution a exploring battle cruiser and gave her pulse phasers like the defiant would have. Only they gave the constitution 5 of them.
nreo caused starfleet to essentially jump almost 154 years of tech in just 25 years. jj verse can create ships that are 700 - 1500 meters big.... even in the prime timeline the excalibur class (enterprise_G) is only 1.2km and that's a ship from post 2400
I like the JJ Abrams version of the U.S.S. ENTERPRISE over the original version of the USS ENTERPRISE. Because the JJ Abrams version ENTERPRISE, has (to me at least)a cooler animated look to her.
But did they have to make the JJprise both as big as the Enterprise-D as well as....alien in design? The saucer, for the most part is fine, but I HATE the neck, the pylons, & the nacelles on the JJprise. The nacelles look more like a streamlined version of the Doomsday Machine than nacelles, and the pylons look like they're gonna snap at any moment.

Not only is it a modern version of a ship from like 30 or 40 years ago but I heard that the lore reasoning for it being that way was due to when the.. Nervada(was that the name?) went back in time it's tech was scanned by the Kelvin... and the Enterprise we see is them building a ship with tech they still don't fully understand which is why it ended up so big.
I mean, none of that is in the movie, so none of it's canon. Canonically, it's just supposed to be a different potential design for the ship we see in TOS. No more powerful. Not even bigger, that was purely a VFX thing the ship at the design stage was only a little longer because of longer nacelles. Just different because the design stage went a different way. After all, the Kelvin blew up. Its scans wouldn't mean squat, because no one ever saw them.

The Motion Picture era Constitution refit is perfection. Every detail is gorgeous, from end to end. ILM took the best bits of Matt Jefferies' original Connie and made it better. The JJ Enterprise is a corruption of the beauty and elegance into a bulbous, fat and disfigured bastardisation of the ship we knew. I will admit that the Bridge Commander lighting makes the JJ Enterprise look better than the film version, somehow, but it is still an ugly and disfigured Connie that should've been put out of its misery. And apparently the scale was messed up so it should be bigger than a Galaxy class as well? Just, no! Agh, so many things with that ship I don't like.
we're comparing a ship from 2258-2263 in jj timeline vs a ship from 2271-2285 range in the prime timeline. 1.) jj trek ships are supposedly reverse engineered from 2380s prime tech. 2.) prime kirk timeline ships have no such advantages and were all organically developed 3.) the fact jj trek timeline can create behemoths like the jj enterprise and vengeanc which are 700 - 1500 meters long... conclusion jj trek tech is higher if they are 20 yeras behind the prime trek timeline (kirk era) but have ships that are biggre than even tng era ships 100+ years later
@@keyboardt8276 it's a double edged sword. yes bigger doesnt automatically mean better but at the same time it does take engineering capability to produce such big ships. i was always under the impression that starfleet couldn't build bigger ships is because of their literal technology limitations even by the TNG era. they seemed to have a cap of 700 meters at least what we see on screen. bigger ship could mean more powerful reactor for more weapons harder hitting weapons etc.
The Ambassador class in the prime time had trouble because of its size . They solved that problem with a new computer system using Isalinear chip technology .
Yeah the JJ Verse Enterprise is insanely large, it's taller than a Galaxy class and longer than a Soverign class. I can't imagine how large a JJ-verse Galaxy class or Soverign class is going to be.
None of the mods for KM are compatible with BCR. And no one is willing to do anything about that. Or add more ships. I would love more STO boats, or ships from Klingon Academy and Starfleet Command. The Yamato-Class would be nice from SFC/KA and the Yamato II from STO would be _grand_ and more Klingon ships from SFC and SFC2? Glorious.
When the Enterprise was destroyed by auto destruct in the search for Spock and the crew looked on as it burnt up in the atmosphere. It was like the death of a character. The history of the ship and all the missions they had been on with it, and the places it took them. It really was sad and the viewer could feel somewhat, how Kirk and the crew felt at that moment with Kirk saying " my god Bones, what have i done?" The JJ Abrams Enterprise, i feel nothing for it at all. When its destroyed (i can't remember which movie it was) I didn't care one bit. I can't buy into the ship at all, it has a cartoon feel to it. Like its a Enterprise for the under 5s. But its not supposed to be that, its supposed to be taken seriously. Look at the tone and plot of the motion picture and the look of the Enterprise compared to the latest version. While not a perfect film, they didn't dumb trek down. Star trek has fallen along way!!!

I don’t understand the hate JJPrise gets. Could have been better I suppose. Have a couple of modified reboots, nothing extensive. One with her original marking which really make her pop. Wish I could post them here to show.
From what I understand the JJ Enterprise never had aft photon torpedoes. Then again the interior of where and what things were changed a lot between the three films. As we know, there were suddenly side torpedo launchers in Star Trek Into Darkness which honestly made ZERO sense. For the design of the JJ Enterprise...honestly a lot of how the ship is shaped still bothers me. For example the secondary hull...the huge ass warp nacelles and how much they are spaced. The ORIGINAL size of the JJ Enterprise was supposed to be A LITTLE bigger than the 1701 Refit Enterprise. The official astronomical size of the ship is outrageous. I refuse to believe the JJ Enterprise is bigger than the Enterprise-D and Enterprise-E. I really do love the brief appearance of the Enterprise-A at the end of Star Trek Beyond. The shape how things look on the ship were almost perfect. Not quite perfect but ALMOST perfect. I have a 3D printed model of the Beyond Enterprise-A and I absolutely love it. The ORIGINAL Enterprise Refit will always be the best and MY favorite Enterprise.
I love the jjprise, grew up with it in fact, i dislike the hatred of it, yes its pew pew phasers are pointless, and its very lens flarey, but all its positives are overlooked, and yes, i do hate its size, and would of prefered the official size to be. 360m, as it was designed to be, you need to look at the possitives of it, its engineering section is open, and looks more like a engineering section then anything after tos. Yes im biased, and i do prefer the snw enterprise as what it would look like if tos was made today.
To be honest I think it's more like a structural dampening field instead of a shield. It reduces the impact on the hull plating and reduces shield drain rate. Remember how the torpedo in the first jj trek hit its neck but didn't do a lot of damage?

The JJprise never seemed to ever have shields. Too bad the Tmp mod is so wrong. Wrong phasers, and its supposed to be 4 torp from front, and if its a later connie it gets an aft launcher. But looking at the colors, reminds me of ST5, especially the white impulse engines. Probably why its all wrong. 😂
if you watched the movies. jj prise shields stopped nothing and the fhashers did little. how do these games justify these power level when it wasnt seen on screen.
It’s so ironic because while everyone else is rooting for the Refit Enterprise… I’m like one of the few people who is rooting for the JJ Enterprise. The Refit is a good Enterpise don’t get me wrong… but honestly it’s my least favorite out of them all while the JJ Enterprise is one of my all time favorites. So it’s kinda satisfying to watch the battle where the JJ Enterprise smokes the refit. (I do love the refit though, and that’s the truth. Plus realistically since the JJ Enterprise is supposed to be an alternate version of the TOS enterprise, it would make sense that the refit would win the battle if they played their cards right.)

I love the TOS a bit more as I actually like her smoother design, but the discovery version looks amazing! It’s a bit of a mix of the pilot versions of the TOS Enterprise with added panel lining. Overall the discovery version is amazing and tbh I would love to see it appear in one of your videos someday! Maybe the discovery Enterprise VS the TOS Enterprise. That could be interesting!
Although gotta admit, the torpedo looks way cooler and realistic in Abrams trek. The blue glow is actually causes by thrusters! And it's not obscenely bright that acts like a flashbang

The Motion Picture era Constitution refit is perfection. Every detail is gorgeous, from end to end. ILM took the best bits of Matt Jefferies' original Connie and made it better.
The JJ Enterprise is a corruption of the beauty and elegance into a bulbous, fat and disfigured bastardisation of the ship we knew. I will admit that the Bridge Commander lighting makes the JJ Enterprise look better than the film version, somehow, but it is still an ugly and disfigured Connie that should've been put out of its misery. And apparently the scale was messed up so it should be bigger than a Galaxy class as well? Just, no! Agh, so many things with that ship I don't like.

we're comparing a ship from 2258-2263 in jj timeline vs a ship from 2271-2285 range in the prime timeline.
1.) jj trek ships are supposedly reverse engineered from 2380s prime tech.
2.) prime kirk timeline ships have no such advantages and were all organically developed
3.) the fact jj trek timeline can create behemoths like the jj enterprise and vengeanc which are 700 - 1500 meters long...
conclusion jj trek tech is higher if they are 20 yeras behind the prime trek timeline (kirk era) but have ships that are biggre than even tng era ships 100+ years later

yes bigger doesnt automatically mean better but at the same time it does take engineering capability to produce such big ships. i was always under the impression that starfleet couldn't build bigger ships is because of their literal technology limitations even by the TNG era. they seemed to have a cap of 700 meters at least what we see on screen. bigger ship could mean more powerful reactor for more weapons harder hitting weapons etc.
Happily, 2:01 is apparently showing that this mod went with the original 366 m length that the Abrams-prise was meant to have.

The Ambassador class in the prime time had trouble because of its size . They solved that problem with a new computer system using Isalinear chip technology .

Yeah the JJ Verse Enterprise is insanely large, it's taller than a Galaxy class and longer than a Soverign class. I can't imagine how large a JJ-verse Galaxy class or Soverign class is going to be.

When the Enterprise was destroyed by auto destruct in the search for Spock and the crew looked on as it burnt up in the atmosphere. It was like the death of a character. The history of the ship and all the missions they had been on with it, and the places it took them. It really was sad and the viewer could feel somewhat, how Kirk and the crew felt at that moment with Kirk saying " my god Bones, what have i done?" The JJ Abrams Enterprise, i feel nothing for it at all. When its destroyed (i can't remember which movie it was) I didn't care one bit. I can't buy into the ship at all, it has a cartoon feel to it. Like its a Enterprise for the under 5s. But its not supposed to be that, its supposed to be taken seriously. Look at the tone and plot of the motion picture and the look of the Enterprise compared to the latest version. While not a perfect film, they didn't dumb trek down. Star trek has fallen along way!!!

I play star trek online and I'm playing in the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-A
From what I understand the JJ Enterprise never had aft photon torpedoes. Then again the interior of where and what things were changed a lot between the three films. As we know, there were suddenly side torpedo launchers in Star Trek Into Darkness which honestly made ZERO sense.
For the design of the JJ Enterprise...honestly a lot of how the ship is shaped still bothers me. For example the secondary hull...the huge ass warp nacelles and how much they are spaced.
The ORIGINAL size of the JJ Enterprise was supposed to be A LITTLE bigger than the 1701 Refit Enterprise. The official astronomical size of the ship is outrageous. I refuse to believe the JJ Enterprise is bigger than the Enterprise-D and Enterprise-E.
I really do love the brief appearance of the Enterprise-A at the end of Star Trek Beyond. The shape how things look on the ship were almost perfect. Not quite perfect but ALMOST perfect. I have a 3D printed model of the Beyond Enterprise-A and I absolutely love it.
The ORIGINAL Enterprise Refit will always be the best and MY favorite Enterprise.
I love the jjprise, grew up with it in fact, i dislike the hatred of it, yes its pew pew phasers are pointless, and its very lens flarey, but all its positives are overlooked, and yes, i do hate its size, and would of prefered the official size to be. 360m, as it was designed to be, you need to look at the possitives of it, its engineering section is open, and looks more like a engineering section then anything after tos. Yes im biased, and i do prefer the snw enterprise as what it would look like if tos was made today.
you didn't use 4 firing arc's on the Roddenberry's version they were at full power, the fight should have been over much quicker.

To be honest I think it's more like a structural dampening field instead of a shield. It reduces the impact on the hull plating and reduces shield drain rate. Remember how the torpedo in the first jj trek hit its neck but didn't do a lot of damage?
@@Eradicator-jv9xr Always thought that was the major difference between TOS and TNG shields. The later using structural integrity fields to enhance hull strength. We didn't even see forcefields until the Enterprise B.

The JJprise never seemed to ever have shields. Too bad the Tmp mod is so wrong. Wrong phasers, and its supposed to be 4 torp from front, and if its a later connie it gets an aft launcher. But looking at the colors, reminds me of ST5, especially the white impulse engines. Probably why its all wrong. 😂
The TMP Refit is the Enterprise in peak swan-like elegance. The JJ-prise is just a poor, cartoonish immitation.

if you watched the movies. jj prise shields stopped nothing and the fhashers did little. how do these games justify these power level when it wasnt seen on screen.
It’s so ironic because while everyone else is rooting for the Refit Enterprise… I’m like one of the few people who is rooting for the JJ Enterprise. The Refit is a good Enterpise don’t get me wrong… but honestly it’s my least favorite out of them all while the JJ Enterprise is one of my all time favorites. So it’s kinda satisfying to watch the battle where the JJ Enterprise smokes the refit. (I do love the refit though, and that’s the truth. Plus realistically since the JJ Enterprise is supposed to be an alternate version of the TOS enterprise, it would make sense that the refit would win the battle if they played their cards right.)

@@RetroBadgerGaming that one is tied for second place as my all time favorite enterprises. It’s shares the second place spot with the TOS enterprise. I love the TOS a bit more as I actually like her smoother design, but the discovery version looks amazing! It’s a bit of a mix of the pilot versions of the TOS Enterprise with added panel lining. Overall the discovery version is amazing and tbh I would love to see it appear in one of your videos someday! Maybe the discovery Enterprise VS the TOS Enterprise. That could be interesting!
Although gotta admit, the torpedo looks way cooler and realistic in Abrams trek. The blue glow is actually causes by thrusters! And it's not obscenely bright that acts like a flashbang

The AI in this game is SO bad, whatever ship the player controls will usually trounce anything the AI handles as it turns stupidly and barely fights back.

Your joking right. The JJ Abrams Enterprise both inside and outside is just terrible and that man never should have been allowed anywhere near Star Trek. He did not care for the Franchise or even watch any if it. Even back then there was people with better designed enterprises than this that they could have used in the films.
Any have the mess that was JJ Trek and JJ Star Wars he does not seem to have got to ruin any other Franchises so I suppose that is good.
Best enterprise is original, A then E, D. Jjverse sucks they should have made it look like dj enterprise, or discovery enterprise but for jjverse as big as jjprise is. But Abrams wasn't smart
